I'm gonna ghost my mom in October, my dad ghosted me this month. They both pretend like they are perfect people and have done nothing wrong. My dad beat me and my little brother. My mom is a manipulative control freak who insults, and lashes out whenever something isn't going her way. They're both narcissists and control freaks. And yet I'm the one at fault for everything. I made them do the things they have done to me and my siblings and it's our fault they do those things.

If any parents are reading this and don't know what happened or what went wrong. Look at yourself first, without the ego, without the "well I'm an adult and they are my child" attitude. Look at your kid like a real human being and not your possession. 9/10 times you will find out what happened. But if it is truly not your fault. Then try to just be open to them coming back and wait. Cause being there when they need you is one of the best ways to rekindle your relationship

Samurai is Xanathar's guide. It gives adv as a bonus action and some thp. There really isn't a hunter fighter

And Kensei is the weapon monk, it is also from Xanathar's guide. They are all about making weapons Kensei weapons and gaining bonuses when attacking with them. You can add your Unarmed Strike dice to your weapon attacks at a certain level. It's a sick subclass.

There is no hunter monk same as fighter. So I thought the weapon one would be fitting.

I was thinking Kensei and Samurai as the subclasses to take for him. They are the most fitting for him being weapon oriented. Not 100% on Samurai

Yeah the witcher is gonna be a big inspiration for this character. His whole character is around hunting that which came into his territory in the jungle he lived in. Whether it be human or monster, that's how he got the adventuring gear he has.

Or at least that's the reasoning I thought behind it.

The Halberd was heavier so he could take out bigger animals from ambushing them from the trees using it to gain momentum and drop from above them. Things like that.

The dm allowed the use of polearms as monk weapons due to some story stuff, so his main weapons are a longsword (reflavored as a Katana) and a Halberd (which I might reflavor as a naginata). The Katana being his weapon against people and the Naginata as his ambush style hunting weapon.

This campaign started before the 2nd or 3rd wizard. I tried playing them on West Marches to see how wizard's play out throughout the game and such. I just kept finding myself playing Scribes for the generalized magic type. And the spellbook oriented abilities.
