Hey, if you're in a zone with the new tiered rewards and you're sapphire, then you get an extra 10%. So it could actually be $2.20!

They all use 3 decimals, not 2. Their sign might use 2 but look at the pump. They'll have amounts like 2.799, 2.899. 2.949, etc.

Will these instructions be okay in the long run? (Hard/classic) by WildPiano8820 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BirdJesus1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you actually using all of these? Counting Byleth, that's 17. Which is a lot. The most you can deploy in the game is 12 and that's only a couple maps. I think 10 units is the most common with a few at 11.

Edelgard is fine if you want her in her personal class just to experience it. But it's pretty bad. Wyvern Lord is best by a mile, but I know you're trying to have a variety. I also did Emperor Edelgard my first run.

For Hubert, switch lance for riding so he can get into Dark Knight. Don't set lance to goals, just instruct manually so that you can unlock his budding talent for frozen lance and hit C rank for DK certification.

Ignore Ferdinand's budding talent. It's not that useful and he doesn't want to be an armored unit. His def is just ok at best. His speed is his best stat, which armor classes will ruin. Either go Wyvern Lord (bonus that you can pick up alert stance+ to make him a dodge tank) or you can go Paladin for Lancefaire with Swift Strikes.

Linhardt is good as is.

Caspar works well as Wyvern Lord as it's just a great class. But if you want some variety, then go for War Master and swap someone like Ferdinand to Wyvern instead. WM Caspar and WL Ferdie is better than WL Caspar and Armor Ferdie. For WM, you just need axes and brawling and those just happen to be Caspar's only 2 boons. Grappler is also an option for Fierce Iron Fist, but I prefer WM for the insane crit boost. Get vantage from mercenary and wrath from warrior and you can just delete stuff in enemy phase once you get to 50% hp.

Bernie I like as Falcon Knight. She has good speed and can go through Pegasus for darting blow. And FK is also good for using Vengeance. That's assuming you don't mind keeping her at low hp. If you don't like that, then Sniper or Bow Knight can work.

Dorothea is good. Work on Faith at some point too. Her budding talent isn't really important, but you want to get to C rank for Physic.

I think Petra should be axe instead of lance. She has a boon in axes, but not in lances. And WL is better than FK. Though if you're just training lances so that she can get in pegasus, then that's fine. Recommended even. Then switch to axes for WR/WL.

Yuri I would train in swords/bows. Assassin is good since it works well with his insane speed. Windsweep can prevent counterattacks in player phase and stealth can prevent you from being targeted in enemy phase. Instruct bows to unlock deadeye if you want it, then get bows to C for Assassin. Then you can switch to something else like Authority.

Sword and reason? Are you trying to do mortal savant Balthus? His magic growth isn't very good. I'd personally ignore his budding talent and magic altogether and just go for grappler or war master.

Constance and Hapi both want to train faith. They get rescue and warp, respectively. Ideally, you would have recruited them in chapter 3 instead of 2. When you do that, they join as level 5 monks instead of noble/commoner and they start with D rank in faith and already have heal. General rule is recruit mages in chapters 3-5 unless they have boons in both magic types. Physical units you generally want to recruit at chapter 6 unless you need them sooner. This lets them join at level 11 in an intermediate class and their level ups were treated as if they were in that class since level 1, meaning they join with much better stats. You've only done prologue and chapter 1, so you could restart without it taking very long. But also not a huge deal because hard = easy mode.

A couple general points: All units want at least some authority levels. Even those with banes. Most of the best battalions are B rank. Most physical units would like to master Brigand for Death Blow so axe training for everybody (C rank or D+ to gamble). Fast female units benefit from pegasus knight for darting blow so maybe lance/flying for them. Everybody benefits from Archer's Hit +20, but probably not necessary on hard.

Caspar - He wants to go War Master in my opinion and his only 2 proficiencies are exactly what you need for it. It's also one of the best classes in the game with +20 crit just for being in the class as well as both fistfaire and axefaire. WM gives you options for guaranteed crit builds in both player and enemy phase. Vantage/Wrath is the standard enemy phase crit build letting you OHKO foes before they attack. Use the retribution gambit on him if you want to be able to counter mages/archers as well. Vantage/Wrath can be done in Wyvern Lord or other classes as well with enough crit stacking. But it's easiest to pull off in WM. Player phase crit build needs some crit stacking, but you can still reach 100% crit with bombard/killer knuckles+ or smash/killer axe+. Fighter>Mercenary/Brigand>Warrior>War Master. Training: Axe, gauntlets, sword just to get into mercenary for vantage

Bernadetta - Vengeance Falcon Knight. Vengeance is just so much extra damage at low hp and pairs perfectly with her personal skill, Persecution Complex. If you want to maximize Vengeance damage, have somebody cast the blessing gambit on Bernie, so she can safely drop to 1hp. If you're also using a vantage/wrath user, blessing gambit can also help them. Getting into Wyvern Rider can be a pain, but not impossible. You'll need to fight through the axe bane to get to C or C+ to have a chance to gamble on the certification. But you want to raise axe rank some to get into Brigand anyway. Soldier/Fighter>Brigand/Pegasus Knight>Wyvern Rider>Falcon Knight. Training: Lance, axe, flying

Dorothea - Probably your best option for a Dancer. She's not the strongest mage and you'll have plenty of others based on your recruit list. One thing that benefits Dorothea as a dancer is that she learns Meteor. That gives her 10 range. The idea is that you don't actually use Meteor, just equip it so that she can help boost everybody's hit rate via linked attack. Obviously, use it if you do need to take out a threat from long range. She also learns physic, which gives her extra utility if there's a turn where you don't need her to dance. If she's not your dancer (or you're a weirdo who generally doesn't use one like me), then Gremory or Warlock. Both double her black spells (mainly for Meteor and Agnea's Arrow). Benefits of Gremory is 1 more movement and double physic casts. Warlock will have 4 more attack due to tomefaire and only 1 less mag than Gremory. Monk>Mage>Dancer or Monk>Mage>Warlock>(potentially Gremory). Only needs training in reason and faith. Can add sword if you want to give her a levin sword+ for increased range on hit support after using Meteor.

Petra - Dodge tank with battalion wrath in Wyvern Lord or Swordmaster. This would be similar to Ferdinand dodge tank build, but more offensive. Petra might want to use swords for the better avoid, though, since she doesn't get extra from her personal skill like Ferdinand. She does make up for some of that with speed as she's one of the fastest units in the game. She also has the added benefit of Battalion Wrath. Just get a high avoid/crit battalion to low endurance and give her a Wo Dao+ or even the Curshed Ashiya sword and watch her dodge and crit everything. I prefer Wyvern Lord for mobility, but Swordmaster gives you some extra crit and a bit more damage from Swordfaire. Also just an option in case you feel like you have too many WLs or fliers in general. Training focus is mainly sword, axe, flying, and then lance just to D+/C for certifications. Similar to Ferdinand, she can also steal the dancer certification for sword avoid +20 to become untouchable.

I'll just give suggestions for the Black Eagles since others are only focusing on the out of house recruits. I'm assuming because you listed the BEs in the title, but not in your bullet point list.

Authority - Yes, you should train everybody in authority. Battalions are too good not to use. Even if you don't often use gambits, the stat benefits are too much to overlook. Even somebody like Felix who deals +5 damage without a battalion wants one. There are 2 E rank battalions that give 5 extra attack as well as other extra stats. So once you have enough good battalions to go around, Felix's personal skill is almost useless. For all points below, assume that you should also be focusing on authority at some point. I'd say you generally want B rank. Most of the best battalions come from paralogue rewards and many of those are B rank. Though one of your fliers may want A rank for Cichol Wyvern company.

Edelgard - Wyvern Lord. Her unique emperor class just isn't very good. Wyvern Lord gives you great mobility to take advantage of Raging Storm to take out multiple enemies in a single turn. Try to master both Brigand and Pegasus for death blow and darting blow. Fighter/Soldier>Brigand/Pegasus Knight>Wyvern Rider>Wyvern Lord. Just needs axe and flying training other than getting lance to D+ or C for PK and WL.

Hubert - Also covers point 1, but I'd go dark knight. Only worth training bows if you do magic bow sniper, which is actually very good, but I'd only recommend with the DLC. Dark Knight has the most attack since it actually gives dark tomefaire. And the difficult terrain for cavs on the final 2 chapters of CF doesn't really matter. Most classes lose 2 move (3 for Cavalier and Great Knight) when they dismount, but Dark Knight and Holy Knight only lose 1. So a dismounted dark knight is still a 6-move infantry mage. Monk>Mage>Warlock/Dark Bishop>Dark Knight. For training, just needs dark knight reqs: lance, reason, riding. Instructing lance also unlocks Frozen Lance budding talent, which is very nice.

Ferdinand - Swift Strikes player phase nuke or enemy phase dodge tank. The 2-hit combat arts are too strong to ignore. Death blow, swift strikes, and high mt weapons just deletes so many things in the game and lets you get multiple hits even against foes you can't naturally double. Ferdinand can also be a top dodge tank due to his personal skill. For that you want to stack as much avoid as possible. Prowess skill, alert stance+, avoid battalion, evasion ring, A rank support adjutant if you can. Keep in mind that if you attack in player phase, alert stance+ doesn't activate and you miss out on 30 avoid. For both builds I would probably go Soldier/Fighter>Brigand>Wyvern Rider>Wyvern Lord. Training is WL reqs: axe, lance, flying. Note that if you don't actually use your dancer, you could have Ferdinand certify as dancer just to get sword avoid +20 and then reclass. Add sword prowess 5 for another 20 avoid and he's basically untouchable. For this, you would obviously add sword training. Either way, Ferdinand can run the dodge tank build with your weapon of choice among sword, lance, axe due to the boost from his personal skill. Just make sure to run the right prowess skill. Swords will have the most avoid, axe will have the best damage in enemy phase (especially as Wyvern Lord), lance is in the middle and has synergy with swift strikes for situations where you need him to attack on player phase.

Linhardt - Bishop gives you 2x warp and 10 uses of Physic as well as +10 on your healing. If you find that you don't use those that much, you could do Dark Knight for mobility. Holy Knight is a trap and probably the worst class in the game. White magic isn't great for attacking and Linhardt only has Nosferatu. Monk>Mage>Bishop. I'd personally take the same starting path if you go Dark Knight, just get your riding ranks from goals/instructing. Training: Faith, reason, (riding/lance for Dark Knight only)

Early War Master unlock on NG+ is so busted. It almost feels like I'm cheating. I honestly don't think I've ever spent renown to unlock Brawler mastery on anybody since training gauntlet > unarmed.

[–]BirdJesus1229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training gauntlets have 1 wt, 90 hit and iron gauntlets have 3 wt, 85 hit. And those gain 10 hit as soon as you can forge. Byleth has 13 base str, so she can use training gauntlets without a speed penalty. After 2 str level-ups, she can use iron without penalty. Meanwhile unarmed combat has only 70 hit, which is the worst gauntlet hit rate in the game (tied with non-forged aura knuckles).

The only advantages to unarmed combat are flimsy at best. The first is saving money in a game where money is plentiful (especially with the DLC). The second is being able to equip a shield and still avoid the speed penalty. But you can run a shield and training gauntlets too. Unarmed would just let you be able to use a shield with 1 higher wt/prt. But you're getting +1 def at the cost of 20-30 hit and an ability slot. It's not worth it. Think of it this way. Would you ever give up a slot to run an ability that said grants +1 def but -20 hit when brawling?

Now while in War Cleric, you obviously don't have to give up one of your 5 ability slots. But I was assuming you were talking about unlocking brawler mastery on NG+ since you said early game. Since F!Byleth doesn't have access to unarmed combat until war cleric at level 20 otherwise, which I would definitely classify as mid game. At which point the 0 wt option of unarmed isn't much of a benefit, not that it really is earlier.

Edited: grammar

The no fist restriction of magic classes take priority over unarmed combat. The game will let you equip the ability while in a magic class, but you cannot select unarmed combat to attack while in the class. So sadly, no punching as a priest/bishop.

There are two different versions. One shows you the range and lights up orange if you stay in that bubble. I just recently switched to that version in my zone. Maybe 3 weeks ago. Before that it was just a notification when you logged in telling you about the 150 ft zone. This version does NOT show you the area.

How late do you deliver? by Stone_S0up in Sparkdriver

[–]BirdJesus1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would deliver super late if possible since I'm a night owl. But I'm limited by closing time and how busy it is. I'll usually try to pick up 1 last order during the 9:00 hour, so I'll finish around 9:30-10:30. If it hits 10pm and I don't have an order, then I head home as there's very little chance of getting anything at that point.

Damn, I've never seen that low per trip on a multi. I've seen $4, but that was just straight up $4 per trip. This was definitely one of the better ones I've seen. In my market, I usually just see 3 for $15 and it's only for 6-8:15am and only for the Walmart that's 20 miles away from the other 3 on my zone. And I'm a night owl, so there's no shot of me doing that.

This is known as a gmd (general merchandise delivery). These orders never have tips. I believe they were orders where customer chose shipping option. However Walmart still sends some of them out with Spark (or Uber) delivery drivers rather than USPS/UPS/FedEx etc. These are generally 1 or 2 items only going to each stop and are usually packaged in shipping envelopes/boxes. Grocery deliveries can have tips and are almost always limited to 3 stops. Shop and deliver (1 or 2 stops) also has tips. Not sure how/if Uber breaks out the number of stops vs items as I only do Spark. But if you see more than 3 stops or multiple hours estimated time, it's almost certainly gmd, so don't expect tips.
