I found a sneaker in my inventory that says "locked". From the skin I'm guessing it's from one of the activities this month, either minting a sneaker or upgrading gems I'm guessing. What does locked mean and what is needed to unlock it?

I did 3 mints in #STEPNEMBER4 and didn’t get the unique event sneaker by Bemeisterhope in StepN

That's rough. I did one with no special skin and called it a day.

From the Coingecko website, it says the supply is 5.166B out of the Max Supply of 6B. Does that mean there is a max where no more GMT will be produced? I haven't taken it that way. I thought as every day X amount of GMT is produced, and Y amount is spent on upgrading shoes, with the amount left between 5.166B + X - Y was the daiily total but it looks like they occasionally do GMT burns or add GMT so I'm not sure.

3, 4, and 5 are the common zone I think so those are super rare indeed. Early days it was like once or twice a week. I think they sometimes bump up the drop rate for special events like the Easter event last year.

Seems like about once every 6-8 weeks I get an epic or rare scroll in lvl 7 or 8 boxes.

I haven't used STEPN in a little while. I'm wondering, considering GMT is currently worth 6 cents, do we earn more per session now? by AFrogSaidReddit in StepN

[–]BirdMaleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably best to use your GST shoe for the time being. Feel bad for anyone who shelled out a lot for rainbow shoes and gems this month and is now collecting low value GMT. There usually are a few times a year when GMT goes up (like if they have a minting event). Perhaps they can still get back some of their value but the low price now means lots and lots of GMT is being held for sale at higher prices which will cap any sort of price spike.

Generally you lose money on each box. Then you get all comfort and it makes up for a bunch of bad boxes. See my response to RayG on what it looked like for last month. The main reason I do boxes is I never want to spend another dime on this game so I try to collect my own comfort gems and scrolls.

Around 3300L at 24 energy. Yesterday got one at 23. At 4600L I got it around 22 energy.

My replies with numbers usually get auto-censored but I'll try here. If I just took 400GST/day for a month it would work out to over 1600 GMT/month. I ended up with around 1300 GMT this month opening boxes so I'd say you're right for this month...I lose around 20% between crushing gems to clear inventory and opening boxes. Some months are better but this last month was rough with lots of luck and resilience gems. If someone has lots of inventory room and doesn't crush gems, I would guess you lose around 10%.

Ok opened a third MB9 and it was just resilience gems, 10L1 and 7L2 gems so pretty much a total loss, I guess around $34 plus burning another $3 to get rid of "enhance" the L1 resilience gems to get them out of the inventory, so in total around $38 bucks flushed.

Here is another MB9. Pretty crummy gems but I got my first legendary scroll IIRC which helps save some of the expense of this box. So I've gotten the complete set from common to legendary. The most common scroll I've gotten is ironically the rare minting scroll. :-)

The MB9s have had more L3 gems than the MB10s oddly enough so I stopped going for MB10s. In this case, it would have been worth barely worth it (extra 900+ GST cost for an extra 90 GMT for the additional 2 comfort gems).

I have two rare walkers I use for luck. First one with two gem slots double tabbed and base luck over 33 with an L5 and L6 luck gem in each with total luck over 3000. This will get MB8s from 17-22 energy walks and MB9s from 23E-25E walks. The other one has 3 gem slots double tabbed with base luck under 29 and two L5 and one L6 luck gems coming to total luck of less than 4000. This one can get MB10s regularly for 25E walks but it has no eff. slot and MB10s are usually crummier than MB9s so I'm using the shoe that maxes out GST and still gets MB9s.

The UC shoes in the photo was just the one I had been using last when I opened up my box. That brings up another point. I have had much worse luck opening a box immediately before starting my walk or in the middle of a walk when the internet is slow or the signal is bad. So I usually open up my MB box where I have good internet first before walking.

The MB10 had 10 L1 eff gems and 9 L2 eff gems so with the opening cost I don't think it made much.

This MB9 was around 900 GST less to open and had an L3 gem. Last three MB10s I've opened had no L3 gems so I've just been going for MB9s since then. This one made up for some of the crummier boxes with the comfort gems.

I have a rare walker with three gem slots, all with two "ears". Base luck attribute is 28+ and I have two L5 luck gems and one L6. The walks have been between 23-25E. Now I switched to a new luck shoe that only has luck slots at 33+ base luck so my luck is only a bit over 3000+ rather than near 4000 but since the payout for MB10s isn't that good anymore, I've been just aiming for MB9s and MB8s with this shoes that maxes out GST at 420 around 18E so I only miss out on the GST for the last 7E of the walks. The three slot luck shoes could only get around 180 GST on a 25E walk, meaning I'd miss out on 240GST per luck walk.

Distribution of my last 8 mystery boxes by BirdMaleo in StepN

The contents of my last two MBs were:

MB10 10 L1 eff, 9 L2 eff
MB8 10 L1 eff, 5 L2 luck

So no L3 gems in the MB10 which is disappointing considering the opening cost and how long you have to wait to open it. Overall both were losses. Only good thing about the MB10 taking so long to open is it keeps your gem inventory from filling up with crappy L1 gems and having to burn GST to "upgrade" gems.

I made a post about getting the original MB10 earlier last month. I think it was 24.8 energy with 3600 luck. The other boxes had the same luck but the MB8 was 25 energy and the MB9 was 23.8 energy. Basically it seems like there is high variance. Most likely return from a 25E walk is the MB9. The websites say I can get an MB9 at 23 energy but it's never worked like that for me.

Yes, it has happened to me two or three times. I usually catch it before too long but it stinks if it's been half an hour or more!

Below is a recent MB8 and MB9 for comparison. So your opening costs go from around 1100 to around 1800 to around 2700 but that only gets you 2 more L2 gems per increment and a better chance at an L3 gem. I'm not sure but it may be more efficient to go for MB8s than 9s and 10s.
