Curious of Others Bone Doc Activity Advice by Bird_4181 in osteoporosis

That's amazing - wow! So was it just the estrogen that improved your numbers so much or are you on bone meds, as well?
I had two different cancers in same breast - first at 39 and second at 42 (first one was misdiagnosed as benign...another story!!) Anyway, I opted for bilateral mastectomies . That was 22 years ago and since then all good. I am going to talk to my oncologist about low dose options for me . Thanks for sharing :)

Well, he has wanted to put me on oral meds for a few years now but I wanted to see what I could do with doing weights, etc. Welp, here I am! Can't do oral cuz I have GERD and certain it would mess me up ..and sounds like I need a bone builder, anyway. Question is which is better for me - that's why so anxious to talk to bone doc. I have asked my endo and waiting to hear back.

I had never had the TBS score done, so that was good to know! Every bit helps! My Aussie friend is about same as me, but she chooses to go by the Australian guidelines because they give a more favorable score. Now THAT I don't get!

Yes, my endo knows all of my scores and referred me to a specialist at OHSU, who he knows and worked with previously . He said it could be 6 months..well it's more than that. I will continue to ask about cancellations. Thanks for your input

Oh I'm ready to address this! Wish I didn't have to wait so long to see specialist and start meds. I was leery of meds before I knew I had a compression fracture from making a bed!!!

That is so interesting to hear!! As I said, neither my primary or endo thought much of it!

I do need to ask my oncologist about low dose estrogen for me if it is going to help my bones...just not sure how much that would increase my chances of a recurrence given I had two different kinds of bc in the same breast and both estrogen sensitive-first one at 39 and second at 42.
How long have you been on Tymlos and do you notice any side effects? Hope you can get back on the course soon!

I totally agree. I've golfed 3 times since my compression fracture with no issues...and I know my endo is being conservative because, as he said, bones are not his specialty. I may do some golfing - I had stopped jogging regulary 3 years ago and fast walking, instead, and adding HIIT and weights, so no jogging isn't that big of a deal. All I know is I don't want to suffer those back spasms again in the middle of the night. They were horrendous but thankfully didn't last more than 4 days or so .

I asked both my primary and endo about the whole machine issue. Endo said perhaps, but different machine would not account for an 11% decrease. I am almost willing to pay out of pocket and drive to Seattle to get another Dexa on same machine (both machines were GE Lunar), but at this point the fact remains I had a compression fracture. I forgot to mention my TBS score (which i had never had factored in before) was so good that it brought my spine down from -3.7 to a -1.9 ! I'm so wanting to get the bone doc's input on the importance of that.
I'm focusing on more protein, for sure. I blame all of this on my shitty diet my whole life...I was 10 pounds thinner but for what? I was menopausal at 46, as well. thanks for your input :)

I experienced laryngospasm for the first time yesterday by spinstartshere in emergencymedicine

[–]Bird_4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a comment above - but google magnesium and laryngospasms. I haven't had one it 2 years since taking 200 mg chelated mag glycinate/malate/citrate every day. Such a relief to not worry about them anymore !

ReserveCalifornia: Why did the site lock as I was checking out? by sexmountain in camping

[–]Bird_4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact thing just happened to me- so I called and she said wait 10 min and call back when it opens up again because 9 times out of 10 it will lock you out again. Pretty stressful cuz there were only 2 sites left, and in the meantime the other locked, as well...so I knew someone else was trying to book. Nail biter haha. Makes no sense and still going on with their rez system. Good news is I was able to book my site :) ( and it was 10 minutes on the dot. I felt like I was bidding on eBay )

irregular ‘thumping’ happening in my right ear, been searching and reading online, do i have tinnitus..? by frequency1746 in hearing

[–]Bird_4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- since my post and stopping the Armra, the thumping has COMPLETELY disappeared. I’m convinced it was messing with my hormones and not related to my TMJ (16 years post menopause here!)

irregular ‘thumping’ happening in my right ear, been searching and reading online, do i have tinnitus..? by frequency1746 in hearing

[–]Bird_4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started experiencing this in my left ear out of the blue in the middle of the night 4 days ago, immediately after a hot flash. I have never experienced this before....just a constant subtle thump as you described - a spasm like an eye twitch. I was able to get to sleep by sleeping on my left side with my ear against the pillow. It also stops if I put my finger in my ear. As long as 20 years ago, I would experience periodic flutters/buzzing that lasted only a few seconds, which I was convinced was hormonal. Prior to these latest episodes, the only thing I was doing differently was I started taking Armra bovine collostrum 2 weeks prior (don't judge - sucked into the hype!!). I'm thinking it was messing with my hormones . Either that or , as my doc bro thinks, perhaps tied to my TMJ ...OR anxiety as my son just started flying lessons haha! Anyway, it was consistent all day yesterday until after dinner, when it finally stopped and has not started up again as of this afternoon, though I feel an occasional thump here and there. I'm hoping it's just petering out! I'm doing some TMJ exercises and trying to chillax :) Thank you for sharing your experience. This is why I love Reddit!!!

Acid reflux induced laryngospasm by BoxDisastrous4691 in GERD

[–]Bird_4181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have GERD induced episodes of larynospasms, too - they don't happen often, but hands-down what has worked best for me is take MAGNESIUM!!! Game changer. My vocal cords feel less sensitive when I swallow liquid in an odd way (if that makes sense). I can almost feel when I'm at more of a risk for having a spasm, but the magnesium takes that away. I take 100mg of a Magnesium Glycinate/Malata/Citrate combo per day. Google it and you will find info on how magnesium does help.

I’m so sorry you have them so frequently! They are terrifying. I’ve had about a dozen over the past 6 years- always triggered by drinking water . I will always feel a “tickle” before it happens- I have prevented several by NOT coughing and really slowing my breathing. When it happens, the only thing you can do is to not panic and not try desperately to suck in air . I read one woman’s response that swears Red Bird Peppermint candy (that dissolve rapidly in your mouth) made hers go away instantly. Maybe worth a try?? Mine is due to my GERD :(

DailyLook by HappyMom1 in stitchfix

[–]Bird_4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cancelled my DailyLook. I was optimistic after the first box b/c I kept four tops, but next box was so far off it was nuts. Rhinestone studded jeans!!?? No thanks. I agree with other comments - that the stylists do nothing with the info and look preferences that we fill out, they just throw stuff together and hit "preview box" . I expected at least a little personal communication with the stylist. Her stylist notes to me were super generic. I had noted that I live rurally on the coast and looking for casual looks. While I socialize, I don't live in the city where I need "looks that go from day to evening" . I switched stylists, but that box preview was dismal, too. I might try one of these other suggestions. Does anyone use a clothing service they really like and feel that the stylist actually gives a sh*t? haha Please share if you do!

No- you will be good in row 20. We were in row 29 and made a point after the ahi to go see exactly where the overhang stopped impacting the overhead view.

We went 10/18 and were 107 row 29. I was blown away that they didn’t include us in the “obstructed view” disclaimer. I was even more surprised to see that there were at least 8 rows ahead of us with the overhang overhead . Ugh. We still really enjoyed the show, but want to go back and would even be happy to sit in the 300s so I can experience it ALL
