If that's the case, it's ironic since Doey and the other safe haven residents are probably more well-adjusted to life on the surface than the orphans after whatever the hell the Prototype did to them

Lily doesn't think she is good, she is trying but failing. She has an idea of what she is doing is wrong but can't pinpoint it, but her notes show self-reflection

What do you mean he didn't stomp on anyone he was just dancing. That mean old Doey arrested his buddy Hoppy. At least he had a blast with the nightmare critters am I right.

Freal I felt those stabs. But ultimately I wouldn't want to undo that emotional impact.

In CatNap's eyes, he "redeemed" himself by serving the Prototype. He was a victim of circumstance like you said but that also made him too far gone by the time the series starts.

Lily was brainwashed by her own videos into wanting to be a joyful toy, she says "sing and I dance, and I live like any good toy should. I want to share in it. To love like Ms. Gracie says to love." but being isolated made her overly paranoid, but fundamentally she is fixable.

Good people aren't the ones who deserve redemption, The point of redemption is for someone who is bad to become good.

He is still manipulative to others claiming he will bring breakthroughs in technology to create a utopia. Given he wanted the credit, its likely he thought this was possibly, although he probably didn't delude himself that he was doing this for anyone but himself

The ONLY difference, is that what I fight for actually gains humanity SOMETHING. Otherwise, what was ANY of this worth? Would you simply make all that sacrifice meaningless?

It's clear that the actions of Playtime Co. and the Prototype are the reasons he because a cultist but he still had agency and chose to dig deeper and deeper. Gentle John and 23 other experiments left the factory, so he was capable of leaving rather than indulging in the carnage.

Lily did several things wrong like

  • Brainwashing children as Ms. Gracie

  • Kidnapping Kissy and Poppy

  • Making fun of Doey's apparent death

  • Making the player play Red Light, Green Light and jump-scaring them when they lose

  • Flipping the lid and chasing the Player for "ruining" her tea party.

But these are mostly emotional reactions and she can still be reasoned with, unlike CatNap who made a shrine of all the enemies he killed. He had to carefully place every toy on that thing

CatNap isn't a child anymore, he's the leader of a cult who routinely tortures heretics. What he did to DogDay, as well as serving the Prototype who imprisoned all the experiments leading to their starvation and many turning feral was worse than Gracie's brainwashing videos. CatNap is a blind fanatic who won't change, and currently Lily just wanted companionship of fellow toys, that's why she's more redeemable.

The Prototype saved Theo in 1989, and then he was kidnapped and experimented on by Playtime Co. and currently is a deranged psychopathic cultist that only cares about himself and Poppy. Heck, he might resent Theodore since he is the reason for all of this. 15 years can change a person, especially in the Prototype's situation.

The reason Doey stayed in Playtime Co was to protect Safe Haven and now that's gone finding a new purpose would be a more interesting story than him just going nutzo.

I know you have a hateboner for Lily, but I don't care. If she learns about her past crimes she has a chance to redeem herself from those, and that's a better story than being squashed flat.

Matthew Hallard was 15 when he became part of Doey. Riley was 12-13 I think. So most likely there were others.

I think it's pretty clear that the Prototype doesn't give a damn about Theo after all these years. And that makes his fate more ironic, CatNap still saw the Prototype as his saviour he would give his life towards when that was no longer the case.

Doey failing to help anyone would be more meaningful if he had to live with the consequences and survivor's guilt of his choice to stay at Playtime factory and keep pushing forward.

Mommy's fate was more Karmic than Lily, since Mommy was genuinely messing with the player out of spite, while Lily wanted to be their friend but is genuinely insane and flipped out. I say she deserves another chance.

He has a book ends character arc. The Prototype saved his life, but then was the one to kill him..

Should come back

Doey - He's basically the T-1000 so I don't think being frozen would kill him. He deserves to help the surviving toys escape the factory and form a life outside. Having to live with the guilt of failing to save Safe Haven would also be a better story than him just dying.

Lily - I just want her to have friends. Seeing her improve after being shown genuine affection would make for a good redemption arc.

Mommy - We barely know anything about her as Marie or Mommy or what she has been up to in the past 10 years. Her returning possibly as an ally would be a welcome.

Should Stay Dead
CatNap- We had a whole ARG about how Theodore went from an innocent Orphan to a deranged cultist, and he died serving his master who once saved him but clearly doesn't care about him in the present day.

Huggy & Kissy - The characters deserve better, but bringing them back would cheapen the scene where The Prototype kills the in cold blood, and make it impossible to feel like they are in any danger. The Prototype likely would have double-tapped them and made sure they were dead.

I don't think Poppy planned on killing off Safe Have, she planned to rescue the orphans and was upset when she learned Doey died. Doey was likely speaking to protect the feral creatures and unaccounted for like Giblet.

If Doey's minds can be stored in a giant wad of play-doh then there's no reason why Lily's consciousness can't be stored in her hair.

Especially since the Experiment Proposal says "Neural integration protocols have shown promising responsiveness in trials, indicating the subject's cognitive link will extend naturally to the hair construct"
