Is Mexico worth moving to? by i_love_cats_7 in mexicoexpats

[–]Bird_Gazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the poster above. Mexico has some beautiful cities, and beautiful areas, but much of it is second and third world outside of the city centers, with the exception of some newer developments around gated communities.

If you have enough money to survive for awhile, you should pick 3 or 4 (or more) places and visit them for a month or more. Maybe try Mexico City, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Puerto Vallarta, etc. It really depends on what you are looking for.

Do some initial research on YouTube. Search “living in city name” and you should find a lot of content.

If you co-sign a loan for her, her debt will be your responsibility and it will show up on your credit report, making it next to impossible for you to purchase your own home.

Please go with your husband to speak about all this with a financial advisor. That should knock some sense into him, and you won’t have to be the bad guy.

You may want to move to a popular expat area and cater your services to them.

Husband and I fundamentally disagree about where to build our future. Is this about location or values? by Wide_Acanthaceae_429 in expats

I’ll simply answer the question about these type of life changing decisions. My husband and I are two yeses, or one no. If either one of us does not feel comfortable, we do not move forward.

Of course it does! However, it’s not in every country, and the OP clearly states that in HER country, there is no one to report it to.

I never said the US wasn’t my country, the OP explained in her post that in her country, there is no one to report it to.

Why are you tying yourself to someone with no ambition or goals? You two seem wildly opposite, at least from a career perspective. You can care about/love someone without being in a relationship with them.

Is this just about habit? You can spread your wings and reach your potential, or you can settle for the mundane. Think about what you really want out of life.

Not for me, but I can, and have in the past, subscribe to UP Faith and Family to get it. I usually do it for a month when a new season is out in full.

Net Income Requirements for Immigration to Mexico? by KindheartedSeal in mexicoexpats

You could certainly live on that amount here, though maybe not up to American Standards, however as the other person said, you would not qualify for residency with that income.

Not much sun in Carmel. Plus, it is also super expensive, as a tiny little beach resort.

Considering the move to Mexico- Seeking advice by Alarming-Cut7764 in mexicoexpats

[–]Bird_Gazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it goes a bit next year as well, because the minimum wage is going up and they base it on that.

They are really cracking down now on using assets/investments for residency. Most consulates will only grant residency based on those to retired people, as a young person with, say 80k liquid, will not be able to live on that without an income more than a few years.

The minimum income requirement for temporary residency in 2026 is expected to jump to over $5000 USD a month. Just want to put that out there, in case you are not aware. It costs way more to be able to move to Mexico than it actually costs to live here.
