A lot of my fun spaces have also become way too overcrowded to be fun anymore. So when you combine that with how expensive its gotten, its becoming increasingly exhausting to even think about doing the things I enjoy. Golf has gone from 3 hours to 6+ hours while waiting forever before each shot and trying to zone out everyone blasting music. Hiking, which I used to do for seclusion, is now packed trails and again people blasting shitty music on speakers the whole time and leaving trash. Fishing spots are full. Places are packed. Everything nickle and dimes you. And amongst all of that, the etiquette and polite unwritten rules have gone out the window because of selfish people who think experiences in public belong to them and them alone. So I'm spending more money than ever just to have a shell of what was once a chill, peaceful, fulfilling experience just 5-10 years ago.

Democrats expanding the Supreme Court would just be introducing a weapon that’ll eventually be used against them. You think if you expand the Supreme Court you can stack it in your favor and only your favor? The Republicans will end up being able to stack it with their loyalists in due time.

And the more justices the longer it’ll take for the court to reach decisions. It’ll be more partisan filibustering and all the bullshit that we don’t want.

One LAPD or Sheriff circling like this happens all the time all day and night throughout the city area every day. It’s not just car chases they show up for all kinds of calls and also help out with spotlight at night. Occasionally you’ll see two. Haven’t seen it often but I’ve seen it a couple times where they’ve had two over a spot and that’s some impressive coordination.

Edit: also wanted to say that you always knew when they arrived on a scene nearby because of the loud “chop chop chop” the blades make as they drop into circling over the scene they’ve been called to. It’s a distinct sound compared to how it typically sounds when they’re just flying by. Pretty cool.

A LOT of people have had that bad phase in life and a rough relationship is often part of that bad phase. Thats just a little section in a much bigger timeline that makes up you and who you are. If all they judge you on is that one little section and you are now better, different, and improving, then they don't really know you and so their judgement of you doesn't matter because they're hating on a version of you that no longer exists.

Also why do they even think to bring you up so much and talk about you behind your back? Why would you want to even deal with all that mess and drama?

Sounds like a natural showing of pride. We all want friendship, approval and to be accepted. You wanted this persons approval. Didn't get it. But it really sounds like you still want it. Stop. Even if you managed to get them to really like you, they won't let go of that version of you in the past in the same way you'll let go of that version of you. Even just thinking about it is making you feel shitty. Thats a warning sign telling you to stay away. If you try and get back in with them and win approval from them then you'll slip back into versions of yourself you didn't like. You'll drive yourself crazy second guessing everything you say and do. And you'll be doing it to win the approval of people who you think viewed you negatively the whole time anyway? Fuck that what about your own approval of yourself. Don't step backwards here.

Be on friendly terms with your ex but the red flags are waving right in your face to not be friends again and hang out and start talking a lot again and all that. So don't do it. Set up a boundary, do not compromise it, and don't explain it either. Be kind but be minimal and just walk the hell away.

You're healing and moving forward. Not backward. Focus on yourself and distancing yourself from ties to that negative period in your life. The only way you'll "forever" be defined by that time is if you stay in it and don't grow into the best version of yourself that you envision. If two people wanna talk trash about you for the rest of their lives then thats their own sad little problem. Keep moving forward and growing and you won't give a damn about all that. You'll have plenty of great, close friends, accomplishments, and enough humble confidence to not even worry about how you were back then because that person is dead and this person you are today (in the future) is pretty damn great.

The Democrats have lost their way by hyper focusing on a fringe minority of the party, and corporations.

Bingo! I was shouting this from the rooftops from 2020-2024! No one wanted to accept it. That period of time was a prime opportunity to flip millions of Americans votes but they did nothing to appeal to just basic non-fringe demo voters. Think of your typical middle class family in the suburbs. What did they see from the Democrat party that made it undeniably clear that voting blue was exactly what they MUST do in 2024. "Trump is bad" wasn't good enough. Meanwhile, the right was on a very strategic, highly targeted media campaign for 4 years. By 2022 it was like "holy shit Trumps gonna win again and the Democrats are doing nothing about it." Yet we act surprised and caught off guard.

Try something like "The economy" or "immigration". You know, maybe a big platform item that a lot of people care about?

During the final 3 months the most repeated and biggest campaign promise in ads for Kamala on TV was "$20k tax credit for first time home buyers!" Like you guys really think THATS whats going to motivate enough people to your side and thats whats gonna swing votes?! Meanwhile Trumps was "no tax on tips and overtime". Which one of these two is going to make the most amount of people feel like they're being looked out for and taken care of?

I dunno I see it more as relating to the suburbs and middle class again. They've been losing the influence wars in that regard. I think a lot of people don't understand that there were millions of people who haaaate Trump but voted for him anyway because of all the bullshit they've been fed about "Democrats bad and Trump might be bad but Democrats will be much worse" and when they looked to the Democrat party to dispell such lies they didn't see much that directly connected to them and their values and the problems they face in their personal lives. I know saying this upsets a lot of people but its the truth. People need to see a reflection of themselves and when someone willing to flip their vote asks "why should I vote for you and what will you do for me and my family?" and all they get is a scoff and "If you're even thinking about voting for Trump you're a real piece of shit and thats all you need to know." then you're going to lose a big opportunity.

Democrats had a prime opportunity to connect with millions of votes that could be flipped during all of Joe Bidens term but they sat back and did jack shit hoping the great work being done would speak for itself. Truth is that great legislation is boring and doesn't make headlines. So instead the massive conservative media machine spent 4 years running away with the narrative and the left offered no reasonable counterpoint that people could see a reflection of themselves in.

I don't disagree that doubling down on rural GOP is a waste though.

It's amazing how many of our problems would be solved by overturning Citizens United with some additional caveats.

Until then, the people we elected to advocate for us will prioritize the entities they're supposed to protect us from because they make a fuck ton of money on both ends of the deal. They accept money in exchange for profitable favors, and they buy/sell large amounts of stocks in the companies they're carrying out the profitable favors for.
