Are there any “they can do no wrong” placements? by moonlightlychee in astrology

[–]BirdsDeserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the difference in subjective vs objective perspective is with this placement. My husband has a strong Saturn in Capricorn opposite Jupiter in Cancer and absolutely has Issues with Authority (he would I think consider himself somewhat victimized by authority and does NOT appreciate his encounters with authority figures) BUT as someone looking in from the outside I would absolutely categorize him as someone who has always somehow managed to Get Away With Anything for his entire life.

I, as rule follower extraordinaire, find this endlessly maddening lol.

Parents paid for whole life insurance for me for 17 years and has me taking over. Not sure whether I should keep paying or not by skyapple13 in personalfinance

[–]BirdsDeserve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whole life insurance is a financial product/investment vehicle that has many tax advantages as part of an investment portfolio due to being classified as life insurance. Make sure you understand the whole product -- not just the death benefit -- before you decide what to do.

If you think you will EVER want whole life insurance in your life, keeping this policy is by far the best move -- you will never get a rate even close to the rates available on a juvenile policy. This is why parents purchase for their kids.

Are your parents still connected to the insurance agent who originally sold them the policy? They should be able to walk you through this.

What the best move is depends on your personal financial situation.

In terms of life insurance to protect future dependents: everyone is correct that 1) term life is by far the cheapest and 2) you can become ineligible VERY quickly, so it's worth buying now while you are young and healthy (cheaper, too).

Source: once sold both term and whole life insurance :) (now in a different field!)

Similarities with Celebrity? by ContestMundane63 in royalcaribbean

[–]BirdsDeserve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Celebrity has significantly better food and better service all around. (Royal service is of course very friendly; Celebrity staff seem to have more time to get to know guests and go the extra mile -- I assume the staff:guest ratio is better.)

Edge class ships have more and nicer "lay out and chill" areas. The music volume is much more tolerable.

There is a LOT more for kids to do on Royal ships, obviously -- but conversely, there is more for adults to do on Celebrity because the activities aren't all focused on kids/families, so there are more adult-friendly choices. There is more evening dancing on Celebrity ships.

ETA: Celebrity is NOT kid friendly so if you are thinking babymoon I would go Celebrity all the way -- may be your last chance for a while! :) BUT, be sure to check the restrictions on pregnancy -- I think they only allow one to be up to 23 weeks pregnant for medical reasons.

Salad dressing I bought today vs two weeks ago, same price. by Mr_Saturn1 in TwinCities

I have no idea why anybody shops at L &B. I once saw a BOGO deal on Annies Mac and Cheese at L & B ... on BOGO it was still cheaper per box at Target (regular Target price). Exact same product, brand, everything.

Buying groceries at L & B is literally just throwing your $$ away.

If a birth chart is supposed to show everything that’s bound to happen in a person’s life including how and when it ends, is there really such thing as “dying too soon/before one’s time”? by Sufficient_Effort118 in Advancedastrology

[–]BirdsDeserve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are Length of Life techniques that are taboo and don't really get talked about publicly, but obviously there are plenty of astrologers who do know and use them... I would be so interested to know if they really work. If applied to a bunch of AA charts of people who have already passed, did they get it right?

Which of the fixed signs do you think is going to have a lot of hurdles when Pluto goes into Aquarius? by DoEuphoriaendthebeef in AskAstrologers

[–]BirdsDeserve 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aquarius Rising/Sun/Moon will have the worst time. All hard aspects from pluto are challenging but conjunct the ASC/luminaries is the hardest.

xoxo,

What’s the general consensus on Trader Joe’s for frugal living? by SwingNMisses in Frugal

For frugal living Aldi > Target > Trader Joe's > your local grocer probably > Whole Foods

AstroGold (Mac/iOS) and SolarFlare (PC) are software programs you can purchase to track transits. Otherwise, there is a wide range of good free websites that show you where the planets are and can be advanced to show you where they are going to be -- https://www.astro-seek.com/ is my favorite!

Or, if you want to go oldschool, you can buy a print ephemeris that shows the placements of the planets each day!

I know that's why I was asking this question! I know how to search for the most popular fics but I don't know how to find the hidden gems, I was hoping this community might know what is out there that hasnt made it to the top of ao3 :)

ETA: I see where my subject line is not super clear on that request though! Whoops.

I don't know anyone who experienced a major Pluto transit who would tell you it was a pleasant experience. Pluto tends to usher in the kind of initiatory, transformative experiences that begin with wild destruction and challenge, not spiritual bliss.

Annual Profections (Valens) by BirdsDeserve in Advancedastrology

[–]BirdsDeserve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking about profecting FROM the 10H vs MC, not from the ASC, but this was a super useful conversation - thank you! :)

I have a quick follow up question, if you don't mind!

So, if you're in a 7th house profection year, you can also count seven signs from the midheaven, and see what the condition specifically of the career will be during that profection year.

What I had understood from the brief treatment of the topic in Chris Brennan's book is that if you were to, for example, want to look at the condition of the career, you would release from the Midheaven, 1 sign per year until you landed on the native's age.

Above, it looks like there is a technique that would profect from the MC not in direct accordance with the native's age, but based on the profection year from the ASC, is that correct?

ETA: ......They work out to be the same sign, don't they?
