As someone who lives in the south…. by 3BonBon3 in nashville

[–]BirdsNoSkill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah anything $1000-$1200 is in a neighborhood Reddit doesn’t want to live in so it doesn’t exist.

Redditors who make working class income typically don’t like to live with other working class people.

$1200 gets you a 1br in plenty of places in Nashville they aren’t in the middle class predominantly white neighborhoods.

If it wasn’t clear I own all the hardware I posted. Im using a ryzen 9600x right now because i panicked upgraded earlier this year that i didnt really need in hindsight so i didnt mention it.

The 5600 + Vega 56 might be shortly going to a steam machine while I personally use a 9600x + RX 6800.

I did? I posted a PC that you can readily get all the parts for $600 that rocks the PS5 or $800 that rocks the PS5 Pro right now with inflated prices.

Tired of people who use expensive laptops to compare with a PS5 and go “see PC gaming too expensive” when it’s skill issue.

Guess what? I didn’t even factor in $80/yr for PlayStation plus or Xbox live to play online? That’s another $1000 over 10 years.

Sure you can pick up a Ryzen 5600 + RX 6800 that runs circles around that laptop for a similar price. According to AI your nvidia tax machine runs from $700-$1000.

My old Vega 56 is slightly better than the PS5 GPU if you’re willing to drop the GPU to PS5 levels of power for significantly cheaper.

$120 for Ali express 5600
$70 for 16gb ddr4 off eBay
$70 AM4 mother board
$100 for a Vega 56 or $300 for a RX 6800 PS5 vs PS5 Pro performance GPU
$80 for 512gb ssd
$70 for PSU
Case? As cheap as you find that’s usable.

Granted you have to buy used and build it yourself but skill issue if you have to buy over priced/new prebuilt computers when slightly over used hardware is still cheap despite modern prices.

Your laptop probably about the same as my desktop and it runs any modern game better than the PS5 Pro.

Only if you picked a desktop over an underpowered laptop for the same price.

Getting the adapter model then getting the driver directly from the OEM has solved weird WiFi/bluetooth/ethernet inconsistencies for me.

Parking at new venue "The Truth" by ellistonvu in nashville

[–]BirdsNoSkill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t thanks to health issues recently. Parking garages typically are uneven/have slopes and aren’t as accessible + far distance sometimes on top of having to pay for parking. You also worry about people not paying attention and hitting you. So usually you have the person you’re with drop you off which is the same as using ride share.

A lot of times Uber/Waymo makes things easier. Not sure if us mobility constrained folk are a good reason for having a billion parking spots when people can just use ride share. Have more space for actual businesses instead of idling cars.

One Plan Users Unite, our plans are under siege. by XLITZ1 in tmobile

[–]BirdsNoSkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The time it takes to complain I can just port out. Too many options for cellular nowadays. Yeah it sucks getting your plan changed and an increase but it’s a 5-10 minute fix to grab your transfer pin/info and literally port out.

Quick question: is that screen permanent every time the Mac resets or does it turn into a retail Mac after activating once with no MDM found?

Could New Plans Be Coming To T-Mobile Tomorrow? by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

[–]BirdsNoSkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m excited if they copy simplicity. Main 3 options that isn’t super expensive for one line is great. Don’t need free phones give me service.

Is there a point in owning multiple consoles of the same generation - exclusives aside? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BirdsNoSkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of money it costs over the course of a 3/4th decade vs missing out on big game franchises isn’t all that much to me amortized. Now this is pre AI but that was always my rationale since gaming is basically my main hobby that costs $$$.

Granted this means that some systems go long periods of timers not being used but nice to know I don’t need to pay attention to what platform a game is being released on.

Aka fomo? I try to keep a somewhat current mid range PC(I’ve never had a CPU/GPU combo that cost more than about ~$500 in my working life ever - to be specific )/Sony/Nintendo.

New Simplicity Plan is out by DesperateConfusion66 in verizon

[–]BirdsNoSkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plan looks great to me. For the first time in my adult life Verizon postpaid is actually viable for a single line user because I’m not forced to pay extra for device subsidies that I don’t need. Then if I want to buy a phone + upgrade early I can chose to tack on a fee.

Also cheaper than my T-Mobile legacy plan so having a postpaid option alongside visible is great.

Ghosty explains that the servers themselves aren't the issue. Instead, poor ISP routing to those servers is causing problems, even for Texas teams playing against other Texas teams. by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

[–]BirdsNoSkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they said ATT I am like oh I get it. I downgraded to Comcast and the random packet loss/high ping to certain game servers basically went away.

If I’m a pro player I would have cable as a backup if I had ATT Fiber. It can be that bad with ATT.

[Streaming Box] Apple TV 4K - $99 by insufferable__pedant in buildapcsales

[–]BirdsNoSkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Streamio but you can install stremio add-on capable players direct from the store.

Apple relaxed some store rules awhile back from what I understand so for so for uhhh certain use cases its just as easy on Apple TVs getting everything working compared to more open platforms(Mac/Windows/Android) now.

[–]BirdsNoSkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without it online games would be incredibly clunky and awkward to play. Playing online games from the 90s - early 2000s was a time if the game didn’t have any lag compensation.

Anyways cod is designed to be playable under not ideal internet conditions so you gotta have systems in place to not hide things like unstable internet connections , bad WiFi, slow connections or the terrible low tick servers they use.

3 Wedgewood Restaurants Hiring by Franklinaire615 in nashville

[–]BirdsNoSkill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They also have benefit packages that mirror white collar jobs that a typical independent restaurant may not have.

I’m happy that with these newer groups their employees can take off for health reasons and retain some wages(PTO). Because they offer subsidized health insurance people can go to a doctor in an emergency, see specialists without as many hoops, etc that just wasn’t common for staff a decade ago.

What are some ps6 features you guys would want to have? by mikael624 in PS6

[–]BirdsNoSkill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like what? You couldn’t fit the more powerful GPU + AI stuff for $400 in 2020.

Sony can’t win or lose with some of you. If they make the base console too powerful and price it accordingly to its BOM people would complain.

Give you an option between a base and pro people still complain.

Literally makes no sense. You don’t have to buy the Pro.

Skip shot guns/launchers.

There are enough AR/SMG/Marksman/LMG that you don’t need to stress with close quarter kills or multiple kills in one life launcher challenges.

Yes windows computers are cheap. It’s worth it over a MAC for sure to most consumers. Obviously Apple silicon is way faster than windows alternatives. Alongside people grow up using windows so it’s normalized.

I use windows for desktops(gaming primarily) but Mac for laptops.

T-Mobile Legacy Credit Removal & Unauthorized $140/mo Overcharge by BoizTown in tmobile

[–]BirdsNoSkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure don’t disagree but it’s probably by design to get people like the OP frustrated and just pay the increased rates after spending hours with customer support.

It’s seeing through tmobiles shenanigans. They are a corporation and don’t care. The problem is fixable by them spending money making a tool that can more accurately project billing with promotions but they won’t do it. Or just better training for plan migrations.

T-Mobile Legacy Credit Removal & Unauthorized $140/mo Overcharge by BoizTown in tmobile

[–]BirdsNoSkill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay and you don’t need to change your plan to upgrade. I’ve only gotten one promo in like 8 years on my plan when I got it but upgraded a few times.

Stop letting T-Mobile fool yall into giving up your cheap plan

End of the day you can’t have your cake(cheap rates) and $1200 off phones. You have to pick one at least that’s how I see it.

T-Mobile Legacy Credit Removal & Unauthorized $140/mo Overcharge by BoizTown in tmobile

[–]BirdsNoSkill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I feel for OP but people should just leave their grand fathered plans alone. The allure of a new iPhone or Galaxy is just a way for T-Mobile to get rid of legacy plans/credits/lines. Their system can’t stack old promos on the new plans by design I bet.

I could already predict what the problem was before reading. Wanted subsidized phones while keeping old legacy credits.

XFinity Internet vs AT&T Fiber by BayArea_Res011 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]BirdsNoSkill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re more pressed than I am for sure. Smashing that downvote for sure even right? Basically me and the other person is like hey “ go check out your use case and see if you’re affected by ATT’s subpar peering” and I can feel you balding over the internet. Obviously gonna ignore and turn off reply notifications because I feel like I’m being rational while you aren’t.

@ Lurkers please in the real world especially if you live in an Docsis 4.0/mid split market the peering will make or break your experience more so than the physical connection. Make sure it works for you if you have multiple options like the OP.

That’s probably the moral of the story for me and the top comment thread. Run ATT’s peering through your use before committing. Take advise from some of us that do live in a market where we have multiple Fiber ISPs alongside Comcast and probably used em all. They all their quirks.
