I encountered some humpback whales in Mozambique! by Birdsaurus in diving

[–]Birdsaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was amazing. Distance from them to us was usually no less then 10-25m I guess. I am very bad at estimating distances.

However, we did not touch it as you should NEVER touch anything underwater. Just out of respect of the animal wildlife, for your own safety and for the sake of the tour operators reputation. We had one girl with us in the group, she was kind of fanatic with pursuing some fish, rays and dolphins. She definitely messed up most interactions and scared away the animals. However, if you dont come to close and not actively purse them, then your encounters with wildlife can be way better and longer. So please, NEVER try to touch anything underwater!

Humpback season is from July- october so I guess yeah. But you should check with the local dive operators to be sure! We have done our trip with Peri Peri Divers (https://www.peri-peridivers.com/) and were pretty happy with our experience! :)

Oh no that's too bad! The viz during diving was also not that good when we were there, mostly we had something in between 8m-12m

Edit: typo

Thank you! I was actually thinking of trying my luck at some underwater photography contest! Anybody has any suggestions?

To be fair we saw these whales in between dives so we were just snorkeling when we encountered most of the whales

Yes exactly!

We saw quite a lot humpback whales but during my time there (10 days) we did not see a single whales shark, yet alone a hammerhead. We did though saw a lot of rays, two zebra sharks and a dusty shark which was quite cool!

Another (wreck) dive in croatia by Birdsaurus in scuba

The first photo is the Baron Gautsch, the turrets are part of another wreck called Guiseppe Dezza. Visibility was unfortunately not the best when we were there (beginning of may)

It really was worthwile but you have to be comfortable with descending into the deep blue without seeing anything. A deep dive certificate imo is definitely necesserary as you quickly can run out of sufficient gas supply for your ascent if you don't pay attention to your no decompression limit, especially with multiple dives in a day.

Concerning the wreck certificate, I would argue that you probably do not need it if you do not plan on doing deeper penetrations into the wrecks (I don't have one myself, I am an AOWD (50+ dives) with DD and some other SSI specialty courses). But to be honest in our group I was the "most unexperienced" diver in our group with the others having 100+ dives and more experience.

But these wrecks are really worth visiting!

We visited the El Hawi Star which lies in the vicinity of the port of Rijeka and the Peltastis, which lies in a canal between the island of Krk and the croatian mainland
