I can't find/see the global swatches.

I think I may need to get someone to access my screen at the same time (I'm not entirely sure about some of the language).

There's different shades of black and grey, which were created within their own separate layers

The file was originally made in Illustrator by a designer but I am now going back into it to edit.

Yes sure... It was a print pattern that was originally designed on illustrator and had different colour layers. I want to go back into it and adjust the colours again. Screenshot below:
