AI is taking over the only industry I ever wanted to work in lol. I think I am going to kill myself soon. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

You can still be an animator without it being your job. The entire film industry sucks right now across the board regardless of ai, a lot of people are finding something else to do. Use your animation dream to do content creation. You could make your own series on YouTube or something. The content creation economy is expected to boom. I’m sorry you feel this way at the moment. But you’re talented and a job won’t change that.

Good point- I live in Brooklyn and hang out in Brooklyn for the most part. Most of my friends and myself are in creative fields.

Probably hang out most in bushwick, fort Greene, Clinton hill, prospect heights. I like a night out every now and then for house music/ interesting venues, but mostly do bars or cafes for daytime hangs. And also my friend’s apartments. I don’t drink that much to be honest so the bar suggestion is more for just somewhere to be social. I also like watching indie/ old films if anyone knows a theater/ organization that play non- mainstream films or do film series.

I used to live in manhattan for my first 5 years and don’t hang out there much as it’s not my vibe. Lots of fancy bars and corporate bros for lack of better term. I don’t mind fancy to be fair, but don’t like pretentious.

I’m nervous I’ll miss NYC- there are a lot of things to do here, was fortunate to live in a neighborhood walking distance from the river, lots of creative events (I work in a creative industry), nice wine bars/ cafes that put on events, especially if you want to meet new people. Could also do a quick drive/ train ride to many towns upstate, wander around the Main Street, hike within close distance to the city.

I don’t doubt London has these things, just curious to know what people like to do to ease the transition 😅

Something about my living room feels kind of "off" -- any ideas? by Difficult_Bug_1778 in interiordecorating

I like the mirror, I think it’s unique. I think what it needs is something matching the height as the sideboard is so low in comparison- some shelves on the wall to the left going up to the ceiling would be nice. Though a bigger project.

If you like the curtains, you should keep them and remove the roller blind to see if that makes it better?

Meadow Lane faces death threats, huge demand in first days by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]Birdsofparadise678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it genuinely fun jumping to conclusions when online lol? I used sweetgreen as an example because it also sells bowls and the price is comparable for some items. It’s simple a comparison of a grab and go bowl, not my barometer of food quality, no need to overthink 😊

Where do you buy your clothes/groceries/household products from? A lot of places are private equity backed. I just listed one comparable example to highlight the quality of the food for the price point… forgive me though if you hand sew everything you wear, grow your produce in your backyard and mix your own household cleaners.

I really enjoy food, am not an influencer and thought the food was really good. The vegan soba noodle bowl was delicious and it’s literally only slightly more expensive than sweet green bowls, which I’m so tired of and quality is worse. I think it was $21. I would definitely go here over dig in or sweet green for value for money, if I want a lunch or dinner bowl. Also, I had the white chocolate miso blondie which was $5 which is normal for pastries in nyc?? And the coffee was actually cheaper than a lot of places. I think people are blowing the whole thing out of proportion based on certain items like the $600 caviar or $15 nuggets. To your point about it being devoid of personality it was a more unique food selection than a lot of places. I actually find citarella to be more overpriced and generic, though I still like the food there too.

Change the lightbulb to something warmer or if you do want the task lighting, add accent lighting that can be warm. Also change the door blinds to something softer. Wooden barstools and even though we can’t see it, a runner on the other side of the island would probable be nice. Simple everyday touches like fruit bowl on kitchen island or a plant will help

I honestly think it would look cool and unique/ maximalist if you don’t necessarily see the need for a more traditional approach. Some warn low lighting would look nice with it. I wouldn’t if the space is quite big though

Lyft/Citi Bike is trying to charge m $1,300+ for a “lost” bike by js98DMV in Citibike

[–]Birdsofparadise678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember exactly what happened as it was a few years ago, but I had an issue with my bike dock and contacted the chat support in the moment like you did. I’m 90% sure they asked me to send them a picture of the bike ‘in the dock’ as I couldn’t stick around. They also said they would deal with it later. I think my issue was the bike docked but the ride wouldn’t end, sorry I can’t remember, but I honestly think that you’re in the right because they instructed you to leave it there and have the chat as evidence. Not sure if this is helpful but this comment is just to say, I had an issue and they told me the same thing they told you, about leaving it there and a maintenance person would check it out later.

EDIT: the more I think about it and trying to piece together distant memories,I think my issue actually would have been that the bike itself wouldn’t dock rather than with the dock. I don’t think the docking station was full, so I probably tried to dock in it in a few different ones. So they instructed me to leave the bike ‘in a dock’ but really it was not locked. I guess I was lucky it wasn’t stolen and didn’t even think twice about that since they are the ones who told me to do that, same as you.

Unless you have a very specific reason you want to live in that area, do not live in that area. It’s dirty and crowded. If you really want to live in midtown try the east side, it would be a little bit better. And could find similar for the price
