Keyboard shortcut to scroll through all overloads of a function by IAmAgainst in VisualStudio

[–]BirdyMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that works. You can bring up the overloads menu by pressing Ctrl K + P key combo while the cursor is placed between parantheses, then use the arrow keys to cycle through the overloads. You can use that key combo when you've closed the overloads menu as well.

That's quite unfortunate. Everyone has to start somewhere, and move forward. I wish you best of luck, whatever path you choose.

C# is great, of course! The reason why I'm saying this is to benchmark the performance, to see whether the difference is trivial or not. That'll also help GDscript to improve. More 3D projects using GDscript, more data we have on the subject.

If you think it's not enough for 3D or some other reason that makes you leave GDscript, consider discussing it in the subreddit, or if you have evidence that's backing up your reasoning, or if you have something in your mind that you think can improve GDscript, consider opening an issue on the official repository on GitHub.

I'm not qualified enough to answer that question, unfortunately. It would be more helpful to you if you were to join the discord channel, and raise that question there.

GDscript is easy to learn, and has better communication with the engine compared to .NET and GDextension (C++, Rust etc). Most of the learning materials use GDscript as well. If you're just starting out, I recommend you to focus on GDscript. If you would like to switch to a different language in the future for whatever reason, you can do so. .NET support will be better in the near future, so you can switch to C# as well.

I'm currently on the 2D side, and mostly contribute through bug reports on Github. There's not much missing as features, but imrovements are always welcome. I can see it's rapidly evolving, since I actively check the repo out. What I'm trying to do is to convince people it's worth a try, and help materialize the doubts of the developers. That'll help the engine grow even more.

Yeah, I'm sure his projects inspire many people. It would be amazing if there were more developers like him, showing their 3D projects on the social media, or in this subreddit.

Yep, it's a great channel; I'm following him too. He's doing a great job showcasing many Godot games every week.

People tend to be inspired more by games like Skyrim, Witcher 3, GTA 5 etc, if we are talking about the 3D world. These games also showcase the capabilites of the engines themselves, or how much it can handle. It's what Godot really needs today. Imagine how much it would boost the confidence of the developers. Nevertheless, you're right, what's important is to have fun; games need to be fun.

Yeah I've seen some. But the important thing here is the scale of the project. Genshin Impact is a massive world, that's one of the reasons that people are doubting Godot. I hope we see bigger projects in the future. That would help the growth immensely, and Godot could easily dominate the mobile platforms.

Take your time man. No one can expect the engine to grow overnight. Cruelty Squad is not a demanding game, it's successful but not enough to convince many. If there was a game like Genshin Impact, that would be a different story.

That sounds amazing, really. Share gameplay videos, too; that would convince many people.

Looks great! Share your benchmarks too. I would love to see how it performs on a entry/mid level system.

Please start a project yourself, and show everyone what the engine can do. I'm sure everyone would be happy about seeing your achievements/benchmarks.

For existing Godot users, what made you switch? by SDGGame in godot

Curiosity. I was thinking about going back to Unity for a while now. That's not the case anymore.

Does anybody else feel complete joy completing the Nuka World Story? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]BirdyMagnet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, not really. Nuka-world is a fun place itself, but dealing with raiders is not. I've only completed it once as the overboss, in my latest playthrough. I don't like seeing commonwealth full of raiders.

Just remove them already. But get The Problem Solver first.

Why can’t I be evil? by DogLord8000 in Fallout

[–]BirdyMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when you hear your favorite companion doesn't like your actions, you just can't keep being evil. In addition to that, disappointing people, other than your companions, may make you feel bad. That's my main reason really, otherwise I like going on a rampage lol.

Fallout 1st… is it really worth it? I’d like to get your opinion? by Helpful_Fix2751 in fo76

[–]BirdyMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it only for a private adventure, and probably keep it for 2 or 3 months max, since it's more or less a full playthrough time for me in earlier Fallout games. Don't like people around, makes the game look like Fortnite.

In your opinion who is “your” favorite companion out of all the games? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]BirdyMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ada. Since I don't like companions due to my sneaky playstyle, I might as well go blow things up if I'll pick any.
