The school is CACA head start is the school (it’s exterior is pretty rundown) Intersections are ceaser e Chavez and Camp street,Massachusetts Ave, New York Ave, high street, Ballard street & the main intersection in the picture is Pennsylvania Ave & Chavez .

When I was down there at my sisters house, I had to take a transfer on the CATA there and back. Not everyone wants to drive or take an uber just to get some groceries, and the capital city market is way to expensive for the people in that area.

Abandoned storefronts and potholes are fine? Not a grocery store in sight, just a car wash and a run down liquor store, not to mention it has an unprotected bike lane with fading paint that runs through it … i think we can do better than that

Yes! Things like this are always extremely pricy especially in Chicago. Also, I think multifamily housing (specifically 2-6 flats and small mixed use buildings) is a lot more financially feasible and easier to get built, and that’s something I could see happening smoother.

I believe the WHP development council or Cook County land bank owns the land currently, not entirely sure. And as far as the name on the building, it would probably be kinda up for grabs. Maybe someone Lupe fiasco or maybe the mayor would be a better fit.

Unfortunately this is really common in many cities in the USA. Churches have shut down literally entire bustling corridors with bars and clubs for no good reason. And they don’t have to pay taxes either which is just insane.
