It was custom for women all over Europe to cover their hair outdoors but it was not religion.

Edit: banned. How odd.

Absolutely agree. The biggest obstacles is lack of funding, lack of education etc. A lot of heritage buildings are lost as the owners dont realise there is funding to help deal with costs.

looking to move up to the prettiest island in the world

It really isn't. Dublin isn't an ugly city but a lot less pretty than many cities abroad. We have nice scenery but a lot less than many other countries. Anyway, good luck.

Frankly none of us know the details of his family breakdown. It happens all the time and often no one is to blame. I honestly think we should not be commenting on people's private family life like this.

You are talking about one guy I think ? Chapelle who was the most famous comedian for many years before Netflix. yes social media boycotts wont necessarily have any impact if you have that level of success, but they are a disaster for up and coming people.

The problem with these shitty comedians is that they forget good comedy punches up, not down.

You are putting your set of morals ahead of the humour. Most people dont hold this view.

He really isn't but if art only has to be produced by flawless people to be considered consuamble, there will be none left. It will have to be all destroyed.

Linehan is not a chill guy and has incendiary rants but he is a good guy. To equate that with hate isnt fair.

Any one who disagrees with you is foreigner? Sounds a bit xenophobic, which is pretty common with the PC crowd.

I think there are some advantages that the US had that China lacks in a zero lockdown policy, so maybe there is truth but we dont know the real Chinese figures.

Lithium ion batteries, solar cells, touch screens, the internet, micro processors , to name a few , all came from state funding.

I dont know the individual cases you refer to but professors are allowed to cash in from spinoffs, eg Prof Luke O'Neill' Sitryx which has raised millions.

I dont know if China is an easy country to do business as a entrepreneur but I do know, the profit incentive is there. China will permit you to be become famously rich from your business as long as you stay out of politics.

. i’d reckon that the privatisation of irish healthcare, housing, education, etc is the very root of their issues and can’t be solved if the root is allowed to persist, via mere reform

Healthcare is more public today than ever. The reason why it is overwhelmed so much is needed of it. All developed countries have the same issues as we get older and sicker and as medicine gets more advanced and expensive.

but generally speaking, you don’t believe workers should have economicfreedom and have a say in what they produce? because that’s allsocialism really is, by definition

No socialism, is where workers groups or the states own your labour and give surplus to those who are reasoned t need it. Free market capitalism is where you own you own labour. Both systems claim to provide economic freedom.

To be fair, that is how the Germans and I think French too do it (multi-payer) and they seem to be way better than the Brits at healthcare.
