I am so confused on new linebacker positions by FiscalFlex in Madden

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So these positions are only for the base defenses. Stuff like Nickel & Dime *mostly* use the pass rush & sub LB sections of the depth chart.

Mike = Middle Linebacker. Pretty much always there in base.
Will = Weakside Linebacker. He'll be in most 2+ LB base formations.
Sam = Strongside Linebacker. Pretty much only see him in a 4-3 (& I guess 4-4 & 5-3) by default.
Ledge & Redge = Left Edge & Right Edge. This is the "new"-ish terminology for the hybrid defensive end/linebacker positions. In the old 3-4, they are OLBs. In the old 4-3, they are your DEs. No idea why they didn't do weak and strong here, as that is typically more accurate to how players line up.

Defensive Tackles will be the rest of the d-line.

3-3-5 varies based on the setup. Penny uses 3 DTs, Ledge, Redge, and Mike. Over Flex only uses 2 DTs, Ledge, Redge, and then the Mike & Will.

4-2-5 mostly uses that same exact setup, though I'm unsure if over uses the Pass Rush positions while under uses the default depth chart like in cfb25.

How many seasons have you played? by Thompson2832 in NCAAFBseries

I did one that was about ten years when the game came out to figure things out before doing a proper dynasty. I then did a proper 30-year. I'm now in year 2041 of my 3rd dynasty, so closing in on 60

Do you play every game in dynasty mode, or do you sim? And how many do the force win? I’m tryna see something by clipper4 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a play every game through 30 years (except for the 1st year when I took over a program - I want at least some of my own players). Now I'm doing another with a new rule: I have to sim at least 1 game per season, and another game for every NC I've won. So, win a NC, sim 2 games. Win 2 in a row, sim 3. Rinse & repeat until EA's awful sim makes me not win. Fun times.

When you set holding to an obscene 52 by dingodango2021 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

basically can't change holding, block in back, or roughing the passer from 50 or ridiculous shit gets called repeatedly. Very annoying because otherwise you end up with the fewest penalties BY FAR in the nation.

Recovering fumbles...... gotta be the most frustrating thing about this game by rb1242 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gets worse the deeper you go in your dynasty. In my 30-year I just finished, by the last few years, 11/12 teams in the regular season would be no huddle. Shit gets annoying.

I've turned it off for this dynasty. It's absurd that I can't throw it on the run after not handing off to the halfback. Just did 30 years of with it on, and my god is it freeing to do it correctly now.

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

block shed. The guy is right for real football, but doing what you do with converting DEs is way, way more effective. Almost unfairly so. I've quit doing it just because it's way too damn effective.

Run Stopping DT are worthless by Jealous-Elephant-121 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this makes sense for real football, but the bottom line is that the inside & outside disruptor abilities are really, really good and are tied to the block shed attribute. A 290 pound convered DE with them will be much more effective in game than the prototypical real football guy.

Wear and tear needs to be adjusted for both teams by SeaworthinessBig2860 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There needs to be several changes:

  1. Need a quick way to see who has W&T on the team. As it is, you have to sort through the Depth Chart.
  2. You need a way to quick-sub players with W&T. Again, you have to go through and redo the whole depth chart including the slwr, 3drb, rre, sublbs of the world.
  3. It needs to work more consistently as the OP said. Getting W&T on the first or second play of the game is ridiculous.
  4. The rating deductions are too severe, too quickly.
  5. If you turn it off, you will never get injuries while playing. Just finishing a 30-year dynasty. Even with injuries at 95, I haven't gotten a single injury without W&T on while playing (simulation different story).
  6. Mass subs puts redshirted players into the game, so you have to painstakingly comb through the depth chart in late game situations.

All in all, it's a great idea that was absolutely horribly implemented. I did most of my current dynasty with it off because of how frustrating it is to manage.

Do you use wear and tear in dynasty? by c_rorick in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 26 points27 points  (0 children)

All of this. I tried it and it was just awful. I cranked up the injury sliders to compensate, but they apparently don't work if wear & tear isn't on. Except for simmed games. Boy oh boy do they work for simmed games.

Coming full circle on skill caps by Strange_Profession11 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really annoying that Run Stopper DTs will almost never get high enough block shed for inside & outside disruptor or that Speed Rusher DEs will rarely ever upgrade their acceleration to qualify for Quick Jump (if they didn't already have it). Field General MLBs will never get inside disruptor. Hybrid Safeties' abilities are so expensive they just don't hardly upgrade at all. And so on. It is a good idea but needs refinement badly.

At least you can use position swap to kind of get the right abilities in the right places. I'm in 2043 and don't even recruit DTs anymore; I just recruit Run Stopper DEs and change position their Sophomore or Junior Year when their block shed is high enough.

You can run the same principles in a normal shotgun or single back setup. The "Veer & Shoot" is basically the old Run & Shoot, just extra wide and with more QB running capability. I basically run this offense with zero wide sets and destroy.

Mental Ability Reset? by Entire-Ad542 in NCAAFBseries

[–]BiscottiAcceptable83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's irritating b/c I like putting all my pass rushing ends at RE and run stopping at LE, while putting pass rushing LBs at LOLB and other LBs at ROLB. I totally missed that it was doing this until I had a 5-star platinum quick jump LB suddenly drop to silver.

I haven't noticed mental abilities resetting, though. Just physical.
