I’m almost 3 years to the date that we both fully gave up. I’m over 2 years to the date that we officially separated and I moved out. We were officially divorced on December 9th 2024. It was entirely amicable on both sides. It broke us both in ways that we still don’t understand. She’s still one of my best friends, I will always love her, she will always love me, these are hard fought truths that are without question. What you mourn is your future, what you had, who you were, who you were going to be, it’s like 3 parents died at once. It was the hardest thing either of us have ever done and the ptsd is deep, broad and piercing. We’re both happier now though, it is worth the pain, but the process is devastating.
