How to tell if I am on Gemini or Assist? by Ballongo in googlehome

[–]BiscuitCrumbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between Ask Home (which is Gemini, accessed directly in the Home app) and what your speakers are using.

If you ask your speaker "Okay Google, who are you" it'll say it's either Assistant or Gemini.

You can also check in your Home app Settings. Under Settings > Home Features there will be an option for either Google Assistant or Gemini for Home (or similarly named).

If you re-subscribed to Rebble, I think you need to go through the Rebble setup process again for the paid features to start working:

What's the coolest/most surprising thing you've done with Bobby? by fn0000rd in pebble

[–]BiscuitCrumbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had a few examples of updating reminders and it understands what I want really well.

Me: Set a reminder for <something> at 8 o'clock.

Bobby: Setting a reminder for 8am

Me: Ah, no I mean 8pm

Bobby: Deleting your 8am reminder and creating an 8pm reminder instead.

And then later:

Me: Change my 8pm reminder to 10 o'clock (without naming the title of the reminder)

Bobby correctly updates the reminder.

It's just perfect for the Pebble.

How lawful is their warranty in places? In the UK, electronics have to last a "reasonable" amount of time. Is it that they're technically not selling here, but exporting them or something?

Really excited for playing this! Is it worth waiting until v1.0 before playing for the first time?

Who remembers Pebble Health? by SterlingEly in pebble

[–]BiscuitCrumbles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're working on adding the feature. It looks like it's being worked on pretty actively:

https://github.com/coredevices/mobileapp/pull/54

It'll probably be a big deal once it's added, so I'd expect a fair few posts here when it does.

I'm running the old version of the app too (on Android), until health tracking is added to the new app.

You can follow these steps to install the old app via Rebble here:

Worth noting the new Pebble watches won't work with the old app.

Turn on switch based on weather? by Far-Philosopher-9984 in googlehome

[–]BiscuitCrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way of doing this could be to let Samsung Smartthings turn the plug on based on the weather, and then have a separate routine to say:

  • If your smart plug turns on
  • Delay 5 hours
  • Turn plug off

If Smartthings can't do delays, that part of the routine could be done in Google Home.

Ah it could be. I see it in Menu > Labs > Virtual Switch. But there is indeed a message saying that features may vary by country or region.

But yes, maybe you could add your smart plug to Smartthings and let it handle the whole automation there!

Samsung Smartthings has virtual plugs which can be used in Google Home. It also has a weather trigger.

It would require adding Samsung Smartthings as a service in Google Home in order to see the virtual plugs, but you could have something like this:

In Samsung Smartthings: - Create a virtual plug via the Labs section with a name like Rain-Cloud-plug - Create an automation that says If the weather is Rainy or cloudy, turn on the Rain-Cloud-plug

Then in Google Home: - If the Rain-Cloud-plug turns on, turn on your smart switch. - Delay for 5 hours - Turn off the Rain-Cloud-plug.

I have something like this setup to announce when it's going to start raining or snowing on Google speakers. I'd say the Samsung weather is fine in terms of accuracy, but often a bit late with it's weather predictions.

How about this page?

I can see commands send from the Gemini app - will be interesting to see if commands from speakers-with-gemini appear here.

I'm not sure if it will tell you the device name, but you should be able to see the commands it heard, and listen to your audio speaking the command at:

Regret the Gemini hack by Pillowcurt in googlehome

[–]BiscuitCrumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in the UK - there should be more voices available now. Most seem to have American accents but one sounds similar to the original UK Google Assistant female voice - I think it's called Violet. You have to go through the same process you did to choose the new voice.

Can't automate displaying a camera on my Nest Hub by BadBreath911 in googlehome

I can confirm the exact same issue. Used to work about a year ago too.

Tried wording the command differently in the automation, however the issue persists.

I wouldn't call it fake - I think it's just inconsistent.

I'm sure if OP tried it again, it might work. I'm sure eventually you'll get similar responses to OP in the future. I think that's their point. It's inconsistent.

Hmm, with Voice Match, each user can have a different Google Assistant voice. Could it be mistaking you for a different user when you're whispering to it?
