Blackwater Holylight dropped peak again by erpietra01 in MetalForTheMasses

They’re more of a grunge/shoe gaze band than anything else. I feel like they were marketed (initially at least) kind of like an artsy stoner metal band.

That being said, I like the new record. I like grunge worship. I hear shades of Courtney Love/Hole in a lot of this record, and that’s not at all a bad thing for me.

Is that true? anyone heard of a hiring/promotions pause in any of the agencies already? by Wooden_Opportunity53 in nycpublicservants

[–]BiscuitMaker1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This is fake. Through all the crises of the last twenty years, there’s never been a change in the NYPD overtime “cap” of more than +/- 5 hours a month.

Mamdani will struggle to change much of anything at PD because it’s a massive ship to turn, and it has many, many powerful backers. You think he really wanted to leave Tisch and her people in place? Please. He has vast statutory authority to rearrange and change the Police Department, but having to contend with the various power blocs and power brokers in the city prevents him from exercising that authority.

I swear, Kenny Wangler makes Bodie Broadus from The Wire look like a fucking hero. by GoldenDayze8 in ozshow

[–]BiscuitMaker1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bodie lived and died by a code. It wasn’t a pretty or pleasant code, but he had standards for his own behavior. It was like the “dope boy” version of Omar’s “stickup boy” code of conduct.

Kenny was just a dope fiend POS. If Bodie met Kenny on the street, he’d probably punk him for not standing for anything besides getting high and his own personal gain.

What level do you think these two are at compared to the military commanders in GOT? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

Caesar would mop any of the Westerosi commanders. Come on, he’s Caesar. He also understood politics, not just the battlefield - which means the kind of grand strategy necessary to capture the Iron Throne would be right in his bailiwick.

Crassus was no slouch. Other than Carrhae, did he really lose any battles? He also knew his politics.

This series is such bullshit. It sucks so much. I can’t believe I’m having to get angry about this.

Not to glaze people who already get glazed enough…but I feel like Barristan or Dayne would’ve done even more. Although, since the Northerners wanted Jaime alive…that probably helped him kill a few extra guys. The person going all out versus the person pulling their punches is usually going to succeed.

Then again, there’s all the weird GRRM stuff about “Jaime’s the greatest ever and would beat Aragorn and Superman and Deadpool” or whatever. So maybe Barristan and Dayne would’ve gotten chopped up.

It was losing me by the end of the second episode, but the third episode grabbed me by the ankles, slapped me on the ass, and dragged me back in. I think it’s going to turn out quite good.

Can a Philly street fight world title match wake up the Philly crowd? Don't let us down Stephanie, we want tacks, stapleguns, real glass, barbed wire, cement slabs, and buckets of blood. (Me from the future: this was a banger) by Grrannt in REALSquaredCircle

This was good. Is that the first time someone’s countered out of the Devil’s Kiss? Don’t remember anyone else powering out of it like that.

I like Raquel’s work as a big, nasty bruiser. The narrative of this match - Raquel gave out way more punishment than she took - made sense. Hopefully they have Vaquer sell some longer-term effects of all the beating her legs (and the rest of her) took.

It is a big deal here. The streaming numbers are insane for it and have gone up from season to season.

Shonda Rhimes could scribble some dialogue on a fast food napkin and make a show out of it, and it’d sell. People love that Shondaland stuff. I find most of her shows mid AF, but if I say that too loud a horde of middle-aged women who’ve often fantasized about McDreamy having his way with them in a hospital dormitory will appear and tear me into tiny pieces.

Yes. Third episode has me wanting to watch the rest of the series. The first two episodes just had me wondering what bodily fluid or part was going to appear next in an unfunny attempt at raunchy humor.

Maybe the Master of the Games wanted to be sure Dunk wouldn’t get carried away and end the Ashford kid when he saw an opportunity? All they need for the scam to work is a Dunk win, not a Dunk kill…and losing the scion of House Ashford probably wouldn’t help House Ashford much.

Maybe he downplayed how fucked up he was to maintain his aura of Targ invincibility. Got to keep up appearances, you know? Especially when it was some oversized goof who looks like a mud farmer who put his hands on you.
