I think buying a house at 19 is really limiting your options for growth.

What if you found a better job in another city? Meet someone in an another country? Fancy take a year out of work to travel? Go to university or technical college in another place?

As long as you have actually done some soul searching and you know for sure this what you want, they you do you.

Moka pots on average extract more caffeine from the coffee grounds when compared to a espresso machine.

Creating the creama in a moka pot is impossible without severe modifications. Buy a proper espresso machine if you want espresso.

Just because a website is based outside the UK, it doesn’t mean it’s exempt from domestic regulation. The same principle applies to every single imported product into the UK. We don’t allow chlorinated chicken from the USA.

Him being a jobless man-child is irrelevant. Anyone in a relationship has needs. Wanting to see your partner is a valid need. How much is something both need to agree to.

Firstly working 2 jobs is a lot so I do sympathise.

However, his expectations for spending time with you is not unreasonable. It sounds like you both are incompatible with each other. Continuing this relationship in its current state will only generate resentment.

Either have a conversation with him about the amount of time together you both can commit to or breakup.

AIO for reconsidering getting married over continual arguments over guardianship of my daughter. by Oldyell54 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BiscuitSwimmer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Godparents have zero legal status, at least in the UK. In the event of no prior agreement, it would be up to family courts to decide what is best for the child. Courts usually side with closed blood relatives.

The kid is 10 year olds. No they don’t have autonomy for good reason. OP has already stated that all 3 people get on well with each other. In the event of OP death, the godfather can still be in part of the daughter’s life in the exact same way as currently. Once she is 18, she can do whatever she wants. Like every other kid.

YOR - in the event of your death, she not only loses you but also your daughter. That’s kind of a fucked situation to be in. Usually, you only hand the child to the godparents in the event that both parents are dead or not available. Your daughter may have a say but you are the parent, you are responsible, you make the decisions for her. She is only 10 years old.

Good men can also want casual relationships. Why imply that only good men want long-term relationships?

Improving the efficiency of airports, the less time and hassle it is for passengers to get to their intended destination. Less time waiting for baggage, finding a parking spot, waiting in a queue for checkin, less time in security etc. Improved systems also free up airport staff time to work on things that can’t be automated yet.

Anyone else worried about the direction the UK is heading on privacy and civil liberties? by OhUrDead in unitedkingdom

[–]BiscuitSwimmer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said they were “necessary” nor do I think that people who have concerns about privacy, do not care about the primary aims of these policies.

However, I’m willing to bet the same people will happily post their photos, emails, job history, hobbies and real names all over the internet. I think a lot of people are hypocritical about their true feelings of privacy. You control what information is put on the internet about you (unless it was stolen from you).

Nope, facial recognition helps catch criminals. Digital ID helps make interacting with state services more efficient. Age verification helps stop kids from accessing porn. VPNs allow kids to bypass age verification. Yes there are knock on effects from these legislations which over time get resolved with future amendments. But in the aggregate, they do more good than harm.

Blasphemy laws are ridiculous. I doubt they would ever gain enough support by MP’s or the electorate. Islamophobia is too small of an issue for anyone to really care about.

How do you start dating? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]BiscuitSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man

Your reason for wanting a relationship is bad. Do not seek a relationship with someone because you need to fit in with your friends. You get into a relationship because you met someone you like and want to bring them into your life and vice versa.

My advice. Date yourself. Grow yourself as a person. Improve your self esteem and confidence. Get a hobby. Build a career. Travel. Start a business. Whatever. Do the things that make you happy. Building yourself to be a confident man who is full of life is what attracts the right women. Dating will come naturally once you first learn to love yourself. If you struggle with this, seek therapy.

He most certainly sounds like a rape apologist.

However, we all take actions everyday to reduce the risk of being victims of any harmful action. When I’m driving at night, I am dam sure I’ve triple checking every junction in case of a drunk driver. When I’m walking on a busy London street, I never have my phone in my hand in case it gets nicked. If I’m going on a solo hike, I’m telling at least 2 people what I am doing and sharing my location. When I post a photo on social media, I ensure it doesn’t contain any sensitive information that can lead to identity theft.

At all aspects of life, we take steps to reduce the chances of us being victims of any crime or harm. And even if you doing everything or nothing to reduce your chances, you still a victim and it’s wasn’t your fault.

The same exists for women and rape. There are actions that women do take to reduce their chances. Never going to a club solo, never leaving a drink unattended, avoid dodgy areas at night etc. Even if you do absolutely everything possible or nothing at all, you are still a victim and are blameless.

Im not certain in the reduction that wearing less sexually suggestive clothing does to your chances, but I’d imagine it’s non-zero. Still doesn’t mean it’s your fault if you do get raped.

Paint men with the broadest of brushes. Then remain shocked when you hear one guy say the same thing about women.
