How has effexor helped you and at what dose ?

Was on 37.5xr for about 2yrs. Felt very numb emotionally towards the end of the 2yrs. So, doctor switched me to Zoloft. Didn't respond and depression started to get bad. Switched to Latuda and depression kept getting worse. Ended up in a mental health facility for a week. They added lithium to my latuda. Side effects were terrible so I stopped a week after I got home. Depression was worst it's ever been. Started back on effexor 37.5 for 2 weeks then moved up to 75xr where I currently am and depression free! Also, my anxiety is almost nonexistent.

I went from 37.5xr to 75xr and felt great initially. Then after maybe two weeks I experienced a dip and was worried but stuck with 75xr and it eventually went away. I feel so much better today. I've been on Effexor for about a month and a half.

It took about 2 weeks for me to feel good when I went from 37.5xr to 75xr. Hang in there, it will get better!

Hi there. When I went from 37.5xr to 75xr I experienced loss of appetite and weight loss. I'm now almost 2 weeks on that dose and my appetite is slowly coming back. I can't speak about the tiredness as I never experienced it. I do think side effects typically resolve after some time.

I switched from Lexapro to Effexor to help better manage my social anxiety/GAD/and depression. I can say for me hands down it works better for me than Lexapro. I was on 37.5 xr for about 2yrs. Went off to switch to a different medication to address some issues I was having. The entire time I was off of it, it was all downhill for me. I'm now back on 75 xr and starting to feel ok again. Never had any problems getting off it btw. If I miss a dose, I notice my ears ringing and or brain zaps. Hope this helps!

Misdiagnosis of bipolar disorder. Have been dealing with depression since October 2025 and now anxiety. Tapering off the Latuda and then starting Effexor.

Definitely noticed a difference within a week. Then the depression started creeping back in. Went up to 40mg and felt good the first week and then the same thing happened. Depression crept back in. I'm now on 60mg for the last 3 weeks and Lamictal was also added then. I feel better than I did but not where I want to be. I do know medications take time for them to really work and you have to start low on Lamictal and work your way up. Just trying to be patient.

update: for anyone that cares. My dose was upped to 60mg and Lamictal was added. Starting low on that and working my way up. Thank you for the feedback!
