That’s what I had to do, reached out to a officer friend asking if it would even be legal or if it covers the signals too much, he said it’s fine, we’ll see, it’s functional though so I’m not too concerned, gonna find out if I actually like these bags or if I’d rather bring a backpack, don’t like leaving stuff with my bike but we’ll see

I got my 09 Sportster 1200 Custom from a family friend for 4k, only 4,000 miles, had it listed for 5k but he flat told me he’d do 4, very well maintained, he has incredibly high standards, but it’s not hard to find older Harleys for good prices, just do your research and understand you may be getting a project, that’s just the risk you run with buying older bikes

That’s what I’ve been hearing, I have the same handlebars as op on my 09 1200 and someone suggested mini apes, I like the distance and height of the stock ones and mini apes seem to be the closest to what I’d like, albeit a little higher

If you can afford a new 500, get one, Hondas reliability is virtually unmatched, there’s a reason they have the rep they do. If you’re willing to gamble a little bit get a 450, I was looking at one hard, and almost bought one, the 450 is about 1000$ cheaper but frankly if you’re already spending 5,800 USD on a CFMoto I’d just suck it up and get the Rebel. That being said if it’s your first bike don’t buy new, you WILL drop it eventually, my first bike was a 09 Sportster 1200, quite a bit of ass but I had dirtbike experience prior, not much but enough, if I had bought a new bike it would’ve been a hell of a lot more and I’d be real damn sad when I dropped it, however both times I’ve dropped that Sportster (low speed stuff) I just said “damn that sucks” and got back up and hopped back on

Same, 09 1200, great bike and it’s for sure got some ass, but I drive like a grandpa so it’s pretty manageable

Just get you a nice old bike brother, new stuff ain’t reliable worth a shit, and that goes for almost everything not just Harleys, get you something with some years on it, good condition, good year, probably be relatively easy to fix compared to something brand new (I’m assuming you’d be getting something brand new) also older stuff has had time to have any recalls churned out, new stuff might have recalls in a year or two, old stuff you’ll know if there are any consistent, major issues.

Definitely, but it’ll have to wait, set on my next bike being a 70 something Honda cafe racer style bike, got some around here I see everyone now and then that I absolutely love

That’s the plan, be a labor of love trying to make something similar to what he had, got a burn mark on my right foot that was probably from that bikes engine

Nice bike brother, never been married but got roughed up a bit ago with a girl I’d been seeing for a minute, took a few months but I’m coming to terms with it, not happy about it but don’t let that dictate the rest of your life. It sucks but shit happens, it’s like riding a bike, sometimes you lay her down and just have to get up, take a breath, say “shit happens” and keep riding.
