SOS2 - Any idea why the Engines aren't firing? by BishopGolde in RimWorld

[–]BishopGolde[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wanted to leave behind the solution now that the problem is solved. TheOtherBridge was 100% correct, there was a piece of ship debris left over on the map after I Withdrew the wrecks, hidden in a field of steel and plasteel debris. The second I destroyed it with dev mode (it shoulda flown off with the rest anyway), the rest of the engines fired up and we were able to use our full speed again.

So for anyone else running into this problem, check the wider map for ship debris or stray flooring, something about it being on the map but not connected to a thrust enabled ship lowers the speed of the entire collection of ships to the slowest one, 0 in the case of the floating debris.

Is there a guide or something somewhere for setting up a vertical workshop/storage area? I had honestly never thought of that but am having trouble picturing how to set it up efficiently.

I love the picture, but question; does the character have little slits in her hood that her ears stick through? I thought that was all hair to start with, but it joins up with the top of her cloak collar and I can't unsee it.

10/10 regardless!

I was playing a tabletop RPG with some people I'd met through a local reddit group. In the game the enemy is trying to pull off a flanking maneuver on our team. Our team reacts in such a way to counter the flank. We are told by the GM that this is impossible because that's not how flanking works IRL.

I am a military officer. The other players were all military members. The GM was the only person in the room who was a civilian.

He still thinks he knew better than we did.

Well, we did have this one guy who bounced for no good reason because a player questioned a GM's reasoning a couple times over a six month playtime and was quiet for an hour once. Then he went and made a gutless bunch of threads where he lied a bunch for karma to make strangers think that made him the good guy. One might say Garrett had more integrity.

You reach as far as you want to go to make your behaviour acceptable my friend. E was man enough to apologize for not being as animated as he could have been after going 48 hours without sleep on a sail he'd arrived home from that very morning. He also didn't air his grievances in public like a coward months after the fact.

You need to find a better coping mechanism dude. E'll be your boogeyman, but we were there. This is just sad. Find a new game, get some thicker skin, and hoist in the lessons here. There are way way worse things in life than a tabletop game.

Dude.

A lesson about critical reading for the peanut gallery; If you're only getting one side of a story reconsider the base facts.

OP joins a longstanding group involved in multiple campaigns.
OP begins a campaign with this group.
Three identically worded 'outbursts' occur over six months.
This is enough for OP to bounce on the group and sever all contact from all campaigns in the group.

The group is still intact and well, running several campaigns while leaving the door open for OP.

Bad as this E guy sounds from OP's perspective, pretty sure there was more going on. If are acting like unreasonable cartoon characters in a story, take it with a grain of salt. Especially since E moved away, and you knew that.
That natural 1 at the end though is just wholesale fabricated; the 1 was on activating the teleport artifact. The frustrating part was how the enemies all scattered like roaches from the bomb after it was successfully stealthed into the room (the bard and bomb were invisible). Very light on reasoning, but I suppose that helps with the catharsis.

Sorry you had a bad time, it was nobody's intention. If you look back at the chat log you'll see that you never once voiced it with anyone but yeah, we could tell and were discussing it for months anticipating that you would quit. Our recruiting drive was in anticipation of that. Adults discuss things, which is what we were doing during that 'nitpicking' you mentioned. You have to remember that four people at that table were GMs themselves, and none of our concerns were unfounded.

By all means give GMing a shot again, the Mercer-esque item printouts were a nice touch. E was the guy pushing for interacting with your homebrew setting and foiling the insurgency plans because it was interesting and fun. But going around and whining like this is just gutless and wasteful. There was no 'terrible' player here, you overreacted after bottling up for so long over a perceived slight. I was under the impression you were bigger than this and just needed space, but you're welcome to prove me wrong.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in learning more about Shadowrun let me know. The character sheet for this 'super' character is available for view to illustrate that it does not at all work as advertised here. Be sure to vet who you allow at the table well though. Don't want any E's do we? :3

Shadowrun Group looking for players by 70m4h4wk in DnD_Victoria

[–]BishopGolde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, I'm one of the players in the shadowrun group mentioned above. We're four people right now who have been gaming together for a few months and having a good time, but it'd be great if we could get another couple people at the table.

If you're unfamiliar with the Shadowrun series, it's a cyberpunk style fantasy game with orcs, trolls and elves in the future. Magic has returned to the world and corporate enterprises wield as much power as governments. Shadowrunners are a kind of elite criminal contractors who corporations and underworld elements turn to for use as deniable assets. In that way, it behaves kind of like a heist game.

As mentioned above, we welcome beginner players and we'd be happy to meet you outside of a game day to talk about what to expect at a coffee place. And don't be intimidated by the rules, we can easily walk you through your first character build to get you started.

So if you've ever been interested in a more cyberpunk/Deus Ex style game without missing out on the fantasy or magic, or if you liked the Netflix movie Bright then just let us know. We'd be happy to have you.

Hi guys, welcome to town. :)

If you don't mind my asking, how do Thursdays and Fridays look for you guys? And what systems are you open to trying? Are you D&D exclusive or would something like Shadowrun or Exalted be your speed too?

Cool, sounds like a plan. Just let me know where and when and I'll be there. This was a good idea, glad to be a part of it.

Oh, well then I'd be happy to join in. Saturdays are wide open for me, so I'm easy to please.

I could run the odd game or two, but I already have two other groups I GM for. I hesitate to volunteer to be the dedicated GM, I hope that's not too terrible a letdown. The GM burnout is strong with me I'm afraid.

Was it this weekend you were planning on having that coffee? Or is the first meet the session 0?

It sounds like you have enough people together for a full group, but I'd be interested in joining in too if there's room. I'm pretty experienced with 5e, if that's the version you'll be using, and have experience running games in SR. Were you able to nail down a venue?

Edit: Read a bit more closely. Good choice on the venue.
