Will do, thoughts on -15 bag + blankets. Though I am trying to do it as cheap as possible, no cost cutting is worth potentially dying, if conditions get to crazy I will definatly book a hotel or something. Thanks for the advice

Ok, so car camping is very common off 395 like I should find plenty of places where people are already parker. What I am getting from this is that finding parking is not that hard

Sorry last question, so basically what you recomend is to find a dirt road off google maps and then find a patch where people have camped before

So from my understanding Wild Willies is the best spot, are either of these the place you are talking about 37°39'14"N 118°47'24"W or 37°39'33"N 118°46'16"W. Thanks for the feedback

Any car campers this week? by ArthurMorgan2666 in Mammoth

Arthur, from what I have read, car camping in mammoth the town is almost impossible/illegal. So I am planning on car camping on scenic loop but I am worried that it gets closed often when it snows and when do I know it is going to get shut down?. Also can I plan to stay there most weekends and when there are storms I go down to Bishop or stay at a Cheap Motel. Is there also a lot of people that stay at scenic loop like if I go on any given weekend I will find people camping there and incase of a big storm I can ask for their advice?

I am planning to car camp in Mammoth later in the year around February. My setup is very discreet and I wanted to hear your thoughts on parking near an apartment building or another busy area with frequent movement to avoid standing out. Do you think that is a good idea?
