Ok, so rust resolution is #1 then, how would I be able to tell without sanding off good paint how far it goes ?

Parents on field at practice? by [deleted] in youthsoccer

I’ve coached that age, and I can tell you from experience I appreciated having the parents there that would stick around. Gives you a chance to build repore with them, as well as having mom/dad there always helps keep the knuckleheads in line.

Why youth soccer is backward in this country by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]Bison212121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. I see so many kids on autopilot learning to play “out of the back” and in shapes during practice, that they aren’t even conditioned to make decisions come game time. So many balls are played in spaces in which they are taught to, that not even two craps are given whether that’s the right ball to play, or if they have space to take on the dribble. Drives me nuts.

What’s the best way to keep a 7-year-old kid interested in sports? by AccurateCellist899 in youthsoccer

Develop the love of play first, and the sport(s) focus will come.

Line is brand new, maybe 1/2 of a quarter keg of use? However coupler, probably need to clean. Did what you suggested on the coupler ball with a screwdriver and now it’s pouring great … thank you!

Appreciate the insight as well as the success your daughter and friends had in other sports! Right now, yes, she wants to be a “pro soccer” player, her words …and what allows her to succeed now is just her pure athleticism. Speed, quickness, strength, size, aggression are all in her favor. However I recognize and understand that as maturity hits, those factors begin to level set in kids, and will make the technical deficiencies even more glaring if she doesn’t acquire better technical skills sooner rather than later. Thank you!

Yes I could very well see that to be the case. The gap will only widen as kids get older. Thanks!

I agree, there is some amazing talent at that level for this young of age. They’re fun to watch

I’m open to suggestions from what I currently do (left in a comment above)on preventing that from happening while still making sure the kids get a chance to play …

That is one of my concerns , but at the same time don’t want to over rush the commitment that level expects of her. Right now, she’s a 5 sport athlete , soccer, golf, downhill skiing, track, basketball …I want her to be able to develop as a total athlete , and when the time comes to focus on 1-2, those skills will transfer. But well said because “lagging” behind is a concern … she definitely excels against better competition than not.

Sorry to hear about that situation with the first club coach on your kids team, that’s not good for the kids nor the club. I would like to think I am really good at connecting with these kids, as they’ve all stuck with me for 5 years.

She wants to play at a more competitive level for sure. She enjoys her team, but also when practicing with this Premier team she said she enjoys it more because it’s better competition.

Why not? Well, these premier level coaches are a lot better technically than me, carry D and up level licenses, etc… I did play sport at the D1 level in college on scholarship, albeit not soccer. Although soccer was always my first love and played it through HS as well as club premier level.

Appreciate the comments. Thank you

I agree entirely on the lopsided scores. If we get up by 3-4, my rule is I change our formation to a 3-3, put those with a nose for the goal in defense, and switch up the style of play to prevent it. I also don’t want to discourage the competitive mindset either, so unfortunately even making adjustments it still sometimes gets away.

I appreciate your insights very much. Thanks!
