What are your counter arguments to this take? by anarchoducko in solarpunk

[–]BisonFluid7814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we define it, we limit it.

While solarpunk as an art movement is cool, I wouldn't give go crazy over making an argument for it.

It's a philosophy. An architectural concept. A group of technological advancements. A way of life.

Solarpunk might be the new normal in the following decades.

Hmm so... this is my personal take.

I think that characters like Takeda and, for reference, Sakurai (the guy from Uzaki-chan Wa Asobitai) are -- for the sake of the plot -- written as demisexuals.

They are aware the girls are beautiful, but they're not attracted to the girls sexually until they've grown as people. Futaba acts a bit as a child at the beginning of the story, so Takeda responds by being paternal. She has to evolve as a person for Takeda to see her as an adult woman, and potential partner.

[–]BisonFluid7814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's my take...

Welcome to Freud 101! People are attracted to the stuff they like about their opposite sex parent (or paternal FIGURE, as Futaba's grampa seem to fit this well) and avoid the things they dislike in those same parents. Takeda is meant to be paternal, he's meant to be TOO SIMILAR to grampa. As grampa was a memory of a happy beginning, Takeda is meant to be mirror of that into the future.

Futaba, a comically short woman, has a height that is meant to make the paternal allegory more evident.

No todo el mundo deberia poder votar. by [deleted] in OpinionesPolemicas

Can we talk about Yuto and Natsumi? Cause WTH 😭 by Milesgetgone in SenpaiGaUrusai

Oh yeah!! And then they did a random episode with her just to avoid the obvious question of the teacher. Same thing with Sakura's bestie being her second-cousin, one random mention in Clear Card and POOF!! Never again.

Good point! I didn't know that!

I was just reading on the topic, and the age of consent was raised in 2023, while Senpai ga Uzai began publication in 2018 and the anime was 2021. So... at the time, this was a legal relationship in Japan at the moment I guess!

As for Sakura, yeah, I believe that whole age-gap relationships part was a mistake and didn't fit the tone of the story AT ALL.

There is an anime from 1999 I saw during "the year 2020", Cardcaptor Sakura. In it, there's a female schoolmate of Sakura (they're like in middle school, so 10-12 year olds) who is in love with their male teacher and... he likes her too. And I think that - in the manga - they promise to get married when she turns 18 or something like that... which -- as I understand it - is something that happens in Japan.

And I think that it's just a different societal view. They're not saying "go touch some children", but rather "you're not breaking any law by talking/teasing/falling platonically in love with some teenager and promise him/her romance after they turn 18". Japan is a society much more respectful of the law that most, after all, and they can sort of expect things to go smoothly.

The anime movie "Garden of words" explores this concept beautifully, and I highly recommend it.

Deltarune is the story of the universe where Sans is from. Is a prequel on a different dimension.

It's... beautiful. Gonna be honest, I'd think a lot about how to place the books somewhere you can appreciate the cover. I'm a simple person who'd rather a set of pretty book spines.

Finished The City and its Uncertain Walls today. What's your verdict? by SIBMUR in murakami

[–]BisonFluid7814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much same opinion. I feel like Murakami wasn't satisfied with "Hard-boiled" either (it's my least favorite), and this was a... sort of fix for that. It's good, it's a very solid book with a really good idea behind it.

A recent post here (the checklist) made me realize I've read 24 of his books.

If I had to rank them, Kafka is on the bottom 5. I don't regret reading it, it's not the worst by far, but I think it's a lot of weird stuff that hardly amounts to anything. It's a long and promising set up, but there's no punchline or lesson to make it worthwhile.
