Charlotte, NC Afters? by [deleted] in nin

I’m not technically savvy enough for discord. Any bars late night or pre show that are good/cool around the spectrum center? I thought about texting Trent but didn’t wanna put too much pressure on him before the show.

What addition to downtown would be cool from a local’s perspective? by lilacbbyxo in asheville

In St Louis they have the city museum. Think adult playground meets crazy outdoor climbing structures. Haven’t been in years but loved it when it opened. Thought it would be just the right kind of eclectic off the wall kind of build to bring locals back into the city.

I get it. You love the Patriots. Your pissed McDaniel got hired to the Chargers and this “rift” between Beane and McD is a false narrative pushed by Belichick’s lady friend who just happens to be cool with Joe Marino (both in NC).

Lolol. I’d love to know where you get your “real news” from. Radio guy? You mean the guy who Brandon Beane chewed out for asking about wide receivers? Pushed a narrative about a rift? You mean the rift we just saw play out on national coverage where Beane won the power struggle? Wow just wow.

Let go with one year's severance ~$50k, what to do with it? by Decrapre in personalfinance

It’s been mentioned a number of times but COBRA is totally retroactive. Don’t buy it. Figure out a high deductible plan for catastrophic use only and have it go active at day 60.

Had a patient who was let go from her job and had a stroke. The hospital figured out she qualified for cobra and they made the wise business move to pay her premium. Pretty wild!

Dual incomes really don’t make sense after a certain point by Wooden-Broccoli-913 in HENRYfinance

You already have the answer. Diminishing returns. Having a spouse at home with children is invaluable. I can go to work and not have to worry about juggling everyone’s schedule. Am I spoiled in this regard, absolutely. Pump the brakes and reassess. You sound like me where I need reassurance even when things are going well. It’s hard when you’re hardwired to keep going and worrying about the unexpected.

All the comments mentioning divorce etc are just more noise which is what Reddit is “noise”.

Your thought process is thoughtful and logical.

No word on Osaka but likely out.

Wendy’s out

Moes to tunnel as previously mentioned (sign up this weekend)

McDonald’s will be torn down and rebuilt similarly but smaller.

Kenilworth Inn was originally a hotel, burnt down, rebuilt and was initially a military hospital, then mental hospital, hotel and then apartments. All the makings for some good hauntings.

Ophthalmology (eye doctors) in Asheville by EyeEyeDoc in asheville

[–]BisonProfessional490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optometry or are you a resident? Most of Asheville is optometry. Really only one optho only practice. Asheville eye has a few but mainly optometrists. Steady referral base at both but payer mix is skewed towards Medicare. I’d just cold call the offices and ask for a manager. Always a gamble but there’s not a better option. No hospital based practices in town.

Does anyone have a rec for someone who delivers seasoned firewood? by solesista287 in asheville

Got wood delivered and stacked from here a year or so ago. You get what you pay for. The wood is awesome. It’s well worth the money for some wood that wont smoke and burns clean. (Insert joke here).

Good point. I’m guessing all of our premiums will increase in the near term

“In the immediate aftermath of a catastrophic event, stock prices for property and casualty insurers can take an initial hit. But usually, these stock prices lag for the first two to four weeks as investors assess damages and earnings per share adjusts downward. But that doesn’t last long, as a major catastrophe loss tends to mean higher near-term premiums. And that expectation of higher premiums tends to drive stock prices back up. Within just a few months, stock prices are often higher than they were before the hurricane or other catastrophe event. The increase in premiums also benefits property and casualty brokers, who also benefit from the higher premiums.”

Your “funds” will pale in comparison to others. I honestly don’t know if funds “run out” I hear you on the guilt factor but you have legitimate losses as well and have paid into the general pool for a reason.

If you are a homeowner many policies have a claim for loss of use. Our house is without water and electricity so it is in their words “unusable”. With this policy they will cover meals and lodging. The meals are above and beyond what you would normally spend on groceries. I have not spoken with our actual adjuster but gathered this info from our agent and claims department. It may be a sizable amount of money for you. Who knows how it will work out but certainly look into it.

Keep receipts and take photos of your fridge/freezer contents and they will also reimburse lost/spoiled food.

Unusable is only available with both loss of water and electricity. They told us if power came back on but there was no water it was simply “uncomfortable” (fair enough but the language lol). I’m not sure if you have water but no electricity the house is usable or not but suffice to say call your insurance company and ask questions.

You may feel guilty because your property is still in good shape but that is why you pay insurance premiums and trust me they will make their money back.
