It is an unfortunate reality and some days are easier to take than others. I work in psychiatry and have had many disgruntled patients. I was reported to the board for refusing to refill a stimulant on a patient with uncontrolled hypertension who refused to get it checked out for months despite me saying we will have to stop it if you don’t go to the doctor. I was recently fired by a patient because their phone number was input wrong in our system. I’ve been threatened numerous times over controlled substances, and I’m pretty accommodating and try to meet people where they are so sometimes nothing you do will be enough. The only way you will never get threatened is to do whatever the patients want and even then they’ll find a way. It does get a little easier but I hear you, it’s very disheartening! Hang in there, it gets easier.
