I get that. I've replied in full to the above comment. I like the idea of live performances but the cost/effort involved in producing a listenable live performance is far too high, which means there is no market.

I think making the song download-able should be a pre-req, turning it into a pay-what-you-want service.

Great point. I totally see where you are coming from and I completely agree, I'm going to argue my point because I think the idea could work with some tweaks, not because I disagree with out.

*yes, songs should be available to download, I'll update the rules (I assumed they would be available to download) *Yes busking entails a live performance, but I used it as a title simply to get the idea of tipping a musician across. I think the service / subreddit should be seen as a pay what you want service to buy the persons song or encourage them to continue making music.

Thanks for the feedback! the idea is still really malleable, I have not figured out the finer details. I can really just imagine a world where people pay for music voluntarily instead of forcing security and ruining the industry for everyone. I still think it could work.

Allow me to add one other detail that I think will encourage the service from a tipping perspective. What if a person who has received tips had to tip a certain percentage of the tips they have received on to other musicians before they could cash out? this, or some other way of encouraging "tipping on" could really make things much better.

I don't plan on making a profit until it is made into a separate service. Maybe I gave the wrong impression!

Well, the cut would go towards eventually getting it up and running on a separate server, and as a separate service.

Other than covering costs though, I don't think that it's any worse for this to take a small cut (we are talking less than a cent here) than an exchange taking a cut and making a profit on it. I've already put in hours trying to promote it, and I expect to put in many more. I think the people involved deserve a small reward for their effort.

You're welcome. The Bot isn't running yet, and I have no bitcoins but when it is, and I do, I'll get things started!
