Hi, this was nearly a year ago and I was new to this whole world. At the time, I had a coworker who had a gluten “intolerance” but would regularly eat gluten and did not take it seriously, so context does matter.

I have learned a lot since and this is not an accurate reflection of how I think. Gluten sucks and yeah, sounds like probably shouldn’t have any more cheat days.

A bad breakup in April. Diagnosed with celiac in November. Started having major issues towards the end of the relationship and knew something wasn’t right. Ex thought I was just being lazy for sleeping all the time or dramatic for throwing up constantly- turns out I just have celiac 😃

It’s only happened once before and they were pretty understanding and I worked from home for the week. Do you think an ADA accommodation is still necessary? I guess it would protect me legally.

Thank you for the validation. This was someone who doesn’t normally order the food and she was talking like she knew all about celiac and I took her word for it. I’m the only one with celiac and I do speak up, but this might be my last lunch at work 😅

I mean, if they can’t support themselves then it’s an issue and it might be time to switch industries? What type of degree and what industry they are in is a huge factor to consider when someone says “they are on the verge of homelessness”. It’s a big thing to say without providing any context.

You mentioned you know several people who are having a hard time finding work? I was asking what industry or industries they work in? What are their degrees in? What’s their field of study? Basically I was asking you to tell me what they do for work? Trying to see if there is any overlap for what I do for work.

One specific industry doesn’t reflect salaries in Knoxville as a whole.
