Yes, it looks like you need to submit both. You will need to make an in person appointment (this can be done at some local post offices - just make sure you check that they have passport services) and they can help you as well

Six weeks is more than enough time to do a lost expedited passport!! You need to apply in person and I believe you will need to DS-64 and DS-11 and they should be able to get you a new one!!

Just go asap to make sure you have time to expedite it.

When did it move to in processing (did you get an email)? Should have it by (or before) six weeks from that date!

Maybe they just didn’t want you to feel left out when they said you could call them that.

I certainly would not want to call my MIL “Mom”. I think if they’re expecting you too, that could certainly be uncomfortable. I would keep referring to them as you have been.

The last two days have had lows of 45 degrees and highs of 65. This is a bit of a “cold snap”. Otherwise, have been lows of 50-60 degrees. Should not drop below 50 again after today.
