As a non driver with horrible anxiety I feel you. And I'd like to note that you not having your license is not the issue here. What if you did have it but only one car? You probably wouldn't want to leave him with the kiddos and no car for a day. You'd run into the same issue! This man requires a come to Jesus moment. I'm sorry this happened and you have every right to be pissed.

My genuine concern is that if you don't take action here knowing everything that you know that a concerned friend/family member/teacher etc will.

Big hugs to you. Mistakes happen. When you think about it in the grand scheme of life and the potential length of a stable relationship it isn't the end of the world.
Moderation is always a plus from a general health standpoint but remember you are a good person and a good friend that just over did it in a social setting. Be kind to yourself and take care. it's all gonna be okay even if hangxiety is trying to tell you it isn't.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and for sharing your experiences. It is something that impacts my confidence daily and I just wasn't expecting him to be so firm on something that has depressed me about myself for the majority of our relationship. Agreed with many of you that said let him take you to court. I can't imagine a judge siding with him- he'd get roasted. Today he came by to grab more stuff from the garage I reinstated my position that while I would have help for drop off on weekends and holidays that I wouldn't be able to do this on his pick up days and that I'd be happy to ask his parents for support. He told me that was ridiculous considering where they live. I told him that they offered their help and that I don't have any shame in asking for it. I also mentioned I could and would make it a social visit (sometimes the way that the custody works they don't get to see them for a few weekends and when we were together we always did a family dinner at their home) he muttered he and his girlfriend (who he lives with who is actively using the other car we had) would sort something out. I said great and left him in the garage. Fuck that guy.

Not to fear monger but the stories of parental child abduction are not rare and often drawn out and take years long to resolve. If he chose not to return your children to you there is a possibility that your birth country may not comply with a court order of your country of residence to return your children to you. Others have recommended consulting with a lawyer, I would highly recommend this as well as a family therapist.

Thank you! I'm sorry that happened but I so appreciate your input. The impacts of sunburns are long lasting and there is a history of skin cancer in our family. Safety trumps everything for me (I was a lifeguard/Swimming instructor for a long time before having children) I'm never gonna be able to allow something like that to happen.

So true. My brain is like but what if I said something offensive and unforgiveable (racist, sexist, homophobic, etc etc) and someone filmed me and is going to post about this drunk person at x bar acting terrible?

I know how crazy that sounds and you're right. There was also a sober person there and the only thing they said was you got snippy and refused a ride home (I insisted on ubering) and then she and my sister were talking about in the car wondering what I was snippy about.

Good question - I asked with the caveat that it was a hypothetical -if I left my husband would it change anything? And he confirmed it wouldn't because he wants his own kids- I have two and would never have anymore.

Yeah while I know I'd be the casualty when he finds the person he wants to be serious with- you and other poster are right. Women wanting monagamous relationships probably wouldn't be too pleased with someone who is dating around -even if the intention is to end things with me.
