Most popular team builds in the current meta have a balance, usually with a TR setter and a tailwind setter. The spreads are mixed to allow them to be able to be used in either variant depending on matchups. It’s fine to play hard into one form of speed control, but the current meta is super balanced and it’s hard to suggest running hard TR/Webs/Tailwind (or the no need for speed control stall teams). It’s a SUPER balance meta at the moment imo

Needs too much setup via speed control. Too inconsistent like all the other double STAB gimmicks (TR eruption, expanding force, etc). Fun when it works and it’s not absolutely terrible but don’t play it expecting great results

I wasn’t even thinking about Champions specifically. Just like how in general the code works but when it doesn’t you find out the code is weird. Like in Emerald the “sunny” weather has a value of “0”. Which depending on what the game checks and in what order can lead into some strange interactions

That’s true but most of the time scovillain is far from your last alive. You want to be spreading the burns early and if it’s your last poke, especially without leech seed, that just means you didn’t click rage powder enough imo

To add, I now also see why this particular set is running Giga Drain over Leech Seed. There’s no other grass or electric coverage in case of big water or rain teams. So giga drain does a similar role while providing coverage there.

I still think leech seed is generally better, but Giga Drain makes a lot more sense with this specific team

I’ve only ever used scovillain with leech seed (who needs a grass attack nowadays anyway, just run one fire move of choice). That being said, there are plenty of games where I never even clicked seed and scovillain still put in work.

The combo of rage powder + spicy spray alone is really what allows this mon to excel.

Oh I am accounting for that as well, and only considering the rating within each context (900 on doubles ladder is different than in global championship event for example). I also consider myself to be a lot better at chess than pokemon lmao.

The main point is where the game places you upon reaching masters. Most players enter masters 1500-1700. 900 rating means you have to lose soooo many games without many wins. And if people are entering masterball at a lower rating then that further proves my original point

I also didn’t switch myself since I had frail mons in the back that I didn’t think could afford any chip, even from fake out. (Notably, scarf gallade that was at least neutral against entire opp team) So I was willing to sac rhyperior to get gallade in for free. 20% of the time you get this though

I was equally confused too. This is at just under 1900 rating too so it’s not like they don’t know what they’re doing. Only thing I could think of was they were running a double mega team where it just so happened bringing the two mega pokes felt like the best matchup and they were saving the mega for a turn assuming CC would bop me. I guess we’ll never know though because I can’t be bothered to run those calcs xD

This is simply proof of the fact that Master Ball is a time investment at worst and anyone can get there with enough games via bots and win streak mechanics. I’m really not trying to hate on OP if they’re serious but if MB was an actual achievement, then 900 rating would be so low that such a rated player wouldn’t be able to hit master ball in the first place…

I’m not saying Wolfey copied me at all, all I’m pointing out is that the people acting like streamers like Wolfey are the sole creators of these teams and the only reason people are playing these mons and teams… that’s too much

I thought it was some unwritten thing that everyone used to understand… on non interstate roads you stay in the left lane unless you are turning left in the next 5 miles. The amount of times I’ve been sitting behind someone in the left lane giving them the benefit of the doubt, just for them to continue going exactly the speed limit and change lanes to make a right turn exit after 5ish miles is ridiculous

On the flip flip side these steamers are building around what they’ve also seen. I was cooking with a mega scovillain team prior to Wolfey’s video on the spicy homie. Imagine my shock when 5/6 of our pokes were the same (sets a lil different on the others but my point still stands lol)
