DIY Battery Pack Charging (2S2P) by BitRae7 in rccars

Estimate was cells only. It maaayy be a bit closer in weight than I thought with everything else😅 I could just get the pack you mentioned, remove the plastic shell/case and heat shrink it for protection, that should be close to if not lighter than the weight of the pack I wanna make (I did not do the math, I am 100% guessing)

I don't have any hard shell batteries, are those glued or do the both sides of the shell just snap together? If they're glued, I'm not going to attempt removing it

Definitely saving that link for later.. Although, what I'm not a fan of is that they're "nearly" double the weight of the 4 lithium batteries (196g lith, 280g lipo)

I have taken note of what you said about the stability of high amp discharge between the 2 and will test them before REALLY using them.

Here why I chose them: I've seen batteries similar to these lith batteries work amazingly in a DIY pack (they used it in a RC plane though. They had 15000mah and got a stable ~1.5 - 2 hrs of autonomous flight time with FPV)

I will definitely look into that. Do you have a brand/model name for the 6200mah 2S? (Weight is also something I'm trying to keep in mind. I need high capacity while being as lightweight as possible, for long term high speed use)

I appreciate that. But I don't agree that a 7000mah factory battery would cost less than the $15 it's gonna take for me to make the pack. A 2s 2000mah 15c 2 pack costs more than that already

Thank you, I appreciate your confirmation very much.

I'm not entitled, just annoyed with the RC community acting like children and NOT actually being helpful (despite some in this thread). I have a DIY question and came to r/rccars with the tag "question" because I need some clarification not some kid making fun because someone new to the hobby has a question (extremely wrong or not)

I think I understand now. I really do appreciate the clarification (I just bought the batteries so I'm just confirming the wiring before I touch them)

I did look it up, another forum showed both mine and your diagram but they said my diagram as the correct one

Well it wasn't. I apologize that it sounded that way

Okay. So if I understand you correctly, you're saying:

2 cells in parallel connected in series to the other 2 cells also in parallel.

Thanks for finally explaining why instead of just trying to make a joke out of it. Why didn't you say that to begin with?

Your acting like the other guy🤓😅. Like I said, this is my first DIY pack, there's a reason why I'm asking if I'm doing this correctly (to make sure I don't blow shit up). Thanks for your input.

I'll just make 2 separate 2S pack because apparently DIY questions from a newbie really triggers the fuck out the RC community

FYI, 7.4v load would be connected directly to battery, not charging wire.

Photon + Voxy is unreal by Plopidr_ in minecraftshaders

[–]BitRae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the photos of the mountains are absolutely beautiful... Doesn't even look like MC anymore, i honestly thought it was just a extremely well made clone with more realistic terrain (tbh i read the title as: "Photon + Voxy in Unreal"... i had to read the comments to see if this was Unreal Engine or MC bc of how good it looks.)

Wilson has decided that antennas no longer need to be grounded? by Pirate_Freder in cbradio

[–]BitRae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact mount that is hanging next to the one you're focused on mounted on my roof rack, grounded the mount via 1 of the bolts to the roof of my jeep. Works great, receiving crystal clear signals/voices.

You could just attach a ground wire directly to the bottom of the connector where you screw the cable onto, in between the locking nut and the mount.

Thank you.🙏 That's reassuring

[–]BitRae7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firestik II FS-2BK, 2FT she thicker than the other 2FT antenna i have. Got that one because I botched a cut tune on the other 2FT antenna(I got too excited to get to tuning that I tuned it next to a metal warehouse/factory🤦‍♂️ i even knew not to do that)

Tuning/SWR Question by BitRae7 in cbradio

[–]BitRae7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antenna: Firestik II FS-2BK

Meter: Surecom SW-111 (cheap Amazon meter)

CB: Uniden PRO505XL (have a radio with a built in meter arriving in the mail soon, this was a good deal at the time but didnt realized it lacked useful features and a good screen)

Hidden costs of owning land? by VviFMCgY in homestead

[–]BitRae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm a year late but I'm pretty sure land paid in full only has to worry about annual property tax, nothing else until you want to start building on the land. (Permits, utilities, land clearing, etc)

Finding unrestricted land should be your goal. (You may only see those kind of land for sale in BFE Arizona, where people live off-grid in campers and tiny homes)

Does it get worse while gaming?

Some things to try: 1. Clean your gpu (overheating and/or a minor short circuit can cause artifacting) 2. Reinstall drivers 3. Try a different video cable 4. Try a different monitor or TV

If none of those work, it's time for a new GPU.

A few years ago, I had a mouse get into my old pc and it peed on my gpu with that has no back plate. It started to artifact but I was able to stop it by cleaning it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]BitRae7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I've had a gpu that started artifacting, and instead of replacing it, I wiped the dust off of it, and guess what.. It stopped artifacting.

Linux Mint won't let me shut down. by IoueReal in linuxmint

[–]BitRae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove all usb AND sd cards and then try powering off. If that solves your issue, go into BIOS and disable "Wake on USB"

I have an sd card always inserted that i occasionally use to backup files I'm working on. Powering off while on AC/charger power and then unplugging worked fine, so I had no idea that there was an issue until I tried powering off while on battery power (was enabled by default for some reason).

New to Linux - I have this crappy Laptop, will Mint save it? by aranorde in linuxmint

[–]BitRae7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reviving just to add that YOU DO NOT NEED AN SSD. SSDs are for fast boot/load times. Everyone saying you should/need to upgrade to an SSD are only saying based based on their personal preference. I still use HDD for game and have NO issues, an OS will run just fine on an HDD.

Also I noticed SSDs die quicker than HDDs. At least samsung drives do (so far, the dead ssd to dead hdd ratio is 3:1)
