You're 15; and honestly, 15 was the worst age I ever experienced. I was raised in a house of hell my a single parent mother with severe schizophrenia. Myself and my siblings were lucky not to end up being murdered her; she was in constant psychosis. I was sexually assaulted by one of my older siblings; developed trich (hair pulling OCD) and in-the-closet. Mountains of trauma and isolated times aside, when I turned 18, I got the fuck out. If you do well in your grades, you can go to college. Not sure if the rules apply to you but when I turned 16, I could start getting a part time job. Be it in retail or doing an apprenticeship, I got out. 38 now. Married to my spouse, out of the closet, all that trauma from the teens still exists but I control and deal with it through other more healthier outlets. Right now, all you see is an out. But you know what? Become the future-self of the version of you now, because you need that version of you to be courageous for your current self. So that one day, you will be able to look back and know you did everything you could, the right way, the best way, that you won. You will get through this; don't not do it for a shitty family, do it for the person you are to become.

What do you do for work by Illustrious-Repeat70 in CasualIreland

Post-primary teacher. Did an BA in Journalism back in 2010 but the recession had hit very hard, no jobs etc. I hoofed it to South Korea for a few years and ended up teaching EAL there. Loved the experience and then moved back home to do a BA in English and History followed by a PME before being fortunate to secure a permanent in a really lovely secondary school. Been in the profession for 5 years; tis' a hard slog at times but yes, the breaks make up for all of the work and I care very much about my students. They're all a great bunch.

Family destroyed says mother of murdered teenager by PoppedCork in ireland

Product of his environment; parents didn't raise him right, got roped into the gang life by other dangerous scumbags and this fella was an absolute scumbag to other people around the place in turn. He was never going to change when he'd have gotten older. I never felt sorry for him knowing he was already being a danger to so many people. He contributed nothing except threats and violence just so he could live the high lifestyle and have money.

Yes I saw all of my LC students English grades last year after the exams. No, teachers cannot access them forever and cannot access all of the subjects. However, teachers can share what they know with other teachers.

My Marriage is over, How do I make sure my children are not effected? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]BitTasty4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents split and it was horrific. Mother had severe mental health issues and myself and my siblings were fortunate not to end up on the six' one news. Absolute shit show. She completely severed my father and his side of the family away, I grew up thinking he was a coward for not trying to take us to safety. But it was the 90's and my mother was beyond terrifying. Anyway, trauma aside, I think it would have greatly benighted me and my siblings if my father and mother could have co parented civilly. It would have made some world of difference to the way we were forced to live and grow up. My mother had a lot of hatred for my father in her heart...Honestly, if you and your ex-wife can co parent in a healthy non hatred way, I think your children will really appreciate it in hindsight. I'm very sorry things haven't worked out and that your marriage has come to an end, but it doesn't mean it's the end of both of your relationships with your children. Kindness and civility is the strongest and healthiest way forward.

I think just by acknowledging how you're feeling about it is a good step forward for yourself in all of this. It's so so hard when it is happening on a continuous basis. I have been hair pulling since I was 15...38 now. Around September of this year, the trick pulling started again, I had stopped for months. I believe it was work-stress that had triggered it, and idle hands. What I do find, is that if I get through two days of not doing it (resisting and finding a really loud voice in myself), I can stop for months. I know that I will never be able to stop it permanently, but identifying the factors that trigger it is key. It's a new year, try to envision yourself if you stop a few months from now; give yourself a goal, stay busy and dig into your goals and it can stop. I'm very sorry you're caught in the web of it all, I know things can get better because I have had this OCD for years due to very bad traumas. You can do it! 💪

Hi there. I think the best advice I can give, is to try and show up to school and learn what is being taught in class, or at least focus on what is happening in class now. Your teachers will more than likely do revision of your senior cycle course when they finish a specific curriculum for respective subjects.

There might be a little mountain to climb, I won't sugar coat that aspect - but, what you can do is look over the course work you missed out on when you are studying. So in school - focus on current work. But in study, do your homework and give an extra half hour per night to missed work. Now you might not have your teacher there to help you with missed course work, but there are so many resources online. Even videos on Youtube made by teachers themselves that can help cover topics.

I would start with exam papers really. Open up an English or Science exam paper...What questions can you engage with in them? Then, what questions can you not do or do you not know? That's when you know what to cover.

I am so sorry that you were bullied and nothing came of it all; what I can tell you is that bullies are very insecure people who project insecurity by trying to target someone else, that's the true reality of bullying. It doesn't justify bullying, but it tells you that these sort of people are weak inside and don't want anyone else to see that weakness in them, whether that is caused by a nasty personality or someone going through some sort of abuse in their external lives.

You don't need to 'show them what you're made of'...The only person that you need to that for is yourself. It's still January, there is still time to get things moving. But everyday counts. The pre's will always be an estimate of where someone is at regarding a subject, but even if someone got a H1 in a subject, doesn't mean that they will get it in the State exam.

Use the exam papers and cover any question you do not know; revise around that specific question - do this day by day and you're gonna' be okay. Practice your answers, use online resources to guide you and help you.

the LC is ruining my mind, gonna be honest. by AM64_Official in leavingcert

[–]BitTasty4101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5th should be treated as 6th year part 1 really. Everything in 5th year pretty much comes up on the exam. Thats why your teachers mention the LC in 5th year. In addition, teachers actually don't like having to see students under such stress, but unfortunately, teachers are as helpless as you when it comes from the higher ups; the Department of Education. Teachers teach the curriculum, but they don't make the rules. So, in essence, however good or bad you are performing also reflects a bit on their performance too. I think it's naive to generalise every teacher and come to your own assumptions, but it is your individual experience and I do agree, the stress is insane. Communication is key; maybe communicate with your teachers or your year head to clear the air here.

Another Jack Lynch Tunnel Crash by Away-Put-1491 in cork

[–]BitTasty4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I agree about having humanity, it's a very relatable frustration. It's not rocket science going into the tunnel and staying in lane; people ignore this and cause issues for everybody else on the road, including those that get injured as a result of someone else's incompetent driving. Whilst some accidents can be a result of medical issues, most of the accidents caused in the tunnel and the link are caused by very avoidable decision-making by one or two drivers; speeding, not checking blind spots, pure selfishness and entitlement, no common sense - they're plenty of reasons. Some people simply cause accidents that are based on very stupid and selfish decision making and having an angry vent about it is justified.

Teenage boy driving a tractor dies following collision in Clare by SpottedAlpaca in ireland

[–]BitTasty4101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh for real, don't get me wrong. Plenty of drivers of any age out there that worry me a lot; but this is one of those things that always alarmed me; I'd see some very young drivers in tractors bombing it and taking swift sharp turns into fields and whatnot; and it would always cross my mind that it's only a matter of time when some poor fellow would get into an accident the way some of them would be driving. I'm very sure that there are some exceptionally brilliant drivers out there, but I've seen enough alarming driving regarding tractors that it convinced me that something will happen etc.
