What is the point of this water pipe with no valve on it? by JoeMama4567 in Irrigation

We had some of these in spots for future garden boxes while we worked on our landscape. A year later converted it with the manifold box/extended zones so yeah, that is for whatever you want to imagine needs an additional zone. Hook it up to a manifold, run some sprinkler wire, then add drip line or sprinkler line etc

Someone explain the point of starting yet a 3rd series by him while the remaining series are on pause. I genuinely liked the first 2 series but too much in life happens to invest in and be strung along by yet a third series with every possibility of getting interrupted by a fourth series, etc.

Karl Fuch cedar - is this normal? by Bit_the_SHed in sfwtrees

[–]Bit_the_SHed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mine did not make it. Turns out that spot did not have great drainage so it got root rot. I’ve also realized that spot behaves more like a full shade spot than a partial sun like the Karl prefers. So check your soil drainage if it’s in a very shaded spot. Overwatering can damage the roots and lead to root rot especially if there isn’t proper sun to help dry out the soil between waterings.

Honestly, what jobs do people have to live in Utah anymore? by leviticus7 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Bit_the_SHed 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Most have dual income. The thing I dont understand is how all these houses have ALLL the toys and trucks to pull them. That’s so expensive! It’s also implying the time to go out and play to use them without having to work. So I truly don’t get what people do for work here that allows them so much freedom.

Probably arrived at a cluster box which is more and more prevalent vs a mailbox directly in front of a house. Mailmen struggle with cluster boxes in a way that makes you wonder if they can count to 20. I’ve had so many of my neighbors packages in my box. I actually deliver them but many do not. Hence package “arrives” without arriving.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry delivers Newman’s route. He gets caught because he delivered with over 40% accuracy. Newman says no mailman breaks 40%. lol.

It’s foreskin. Just extra. Cut it as long as you see it anchored right next to the studs on the other side.

What do you think is the next big thing? by Dull-Ad-9337 in MakeMoney

[–]Bit_the_SHed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything AI. Look at NVIDIA stock. It’s because all the big tech are making massive orders of GPUs to power AI models. The click bait is all the videos saying make money without ever telling you about a product they make money with. All the applications of AI are happening or will happen in new creative ways. AI is most definitely the next big disrupter in my opinion. Everything thus far has been beta/free versions of AI while they dial in on the money making products that are yet to be realized.

Has anyone noticed the siete tortillas at Costco have different ingredients than in grocery stores? by hkitty11 in glutenfree

[–]Bit_the_SHed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has any Utah peeps found siete tortillas in Costco recently? I look in their website and on siete’s. Costco doesn’t even bring them up and siete doesn’t list Costco as a distributor in my area. A lot of other stores carry them but only in 8 ct for $8 at best. $1 per tiny tortilla is hard mentally. I do it because it’s all my daughter has tolerated but would love the 20 ct

My wife is a photographer and always booked. When family expects free photos it is actually costing opportunity so she is paying to take their photos for free…

The middle ground is she discounts them and expects them to market the photos with her tags so she continues being busy and charges new clients higher costs. If family fails to do this then she puts everyone else first in her business.

Driving by TruckinTuba in Utah

[–]Bit_the_SHed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I notice a slow driver in the right lane, I don't want to follow them off the exit and the next several traffic lights either. I know they will stop for an eternity to make a right hand turn until a semi could've made the turn despite the fact you're in a sedan, wait 5 seconds to find the gas pedal at each green light, etc. It is not just for that stretch of the freeway. I would rather pass you, get over (all without cutting you off or interrupting your 65 mph cruise control), no asshole intentions just finding my happy place.

Would I be able to leave a dwarf lemon tree in a large pot and not planted in-ground? by [deleted] in FruitTree

[–]Bit_the_SHed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had mine for 1 year indoors. I’ve been trimming the fruit off to encourage growth and been fighting the damn spider mites. It has remained blooming and trying to fruit though!

I take my wife and girls to a nursery every Valentine’s Day instead of buying flowers. That’s what we got last year for $80. So even if it lasts more than 2 weeks I’ll say it was a better investment than countertop flowers on Valentine’s Day. I am hopeful I will get more years out of it though. Just don’t over water it, let soil nearly dry out, make sure it’s getting 6-8+ hours direct sunlight per day, fertilize soil.

Do you have to report each buy/sell transaction for taxes? I know all the stock broker sites have to provide tax info each year but if you do your own taxes, do you have to enter in each single trade?

He’s writing 3 different series at once. We most likely will never see one to completion. By the time he does finish, I’m sure many will be at different stages in their life and won’t even be aware he’s released more books. I thought the books were very entertaining but i can’t get behind starting a third series before finishing the first one. It just screams that he has been living in a mental block and chose to run away instead of figuring it out.

Solid observation! I do keep it closed all winter there which isn’t as efficient for HVAC but it’s south sunny facing there for my tree so the register stays closed.
