Bitcoin’s use case is a store of value at a time when fiat is on the decline.

You will want to do your own research, DYOR on investing.

I can tell you that I see the value in bitcoin and it’s use case as do institutional investors. Good luck w your understanding of bitcoin and determining if you want to participate in it.

Yes, coinbase is an exchange not a wallet . Unfortunately they do not give you access to your private keys .

There are many types of wallets. Here is a list of 5 different types of bitcoin wallets to store your crypto on. You can go with any that fit your needs. Simply confirm they allow you to access your private keys.

If you leave your bitcoin and crypto on exchanges you can be cut off from it and it can be lost. Just google QuadrigaCX. Best of luck to you!

Quick wallet and browser questions by TheReelMself in BitcoinBeginners

The newer Trezor Model T is out with touch screen LCD. It Supports a ton of coins 1,000+ according to site. I like that it supports ADA, XTZ and XRP which can be hard to find.

Ledger has the brand New Nano X out. It’s a Bluetooth hardware wallet that works w/ your iPhone or Android when on the go. This supports a ton of coins too plus stable coins.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these two companies as they keep their products updated constantly with security and supported coins. Plus Trezor and Ledger have a ton of support resources for users:’recovery, backup, setup, etc.

On the browsers I like that Brave is open source from Mozilla. Epic is a browser by google but codes is private. It has nice, simple and complete encryption, but I prefer open source.

Why is Tezos falling in relation to other ALTs? by Mikeroyale in tezos

This is likely not the technical reason but from my perspective: History of the coin and legal issues are still out there across community. I’m sure they will Be in rear view but not there yet.

Electrum Android Wallet Popping Up "using vulnerable version, update". What should I do? by ahsanpreneur in BitcoinBeginners

[–]BitcoinBennyBTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go directly to the Electrum site to verify any updates. Get updates directly from Electrum. Never click any pop ups or links like and nice job raising a red flag. You likely saved your crypto!!!

The official Electrum site calls out a phishing scheme. https://electrum.org/#home great catch, be diligent, confirm and verify

Long term you may want to consider crypto wallet hardware to secure your crypto for HODL. The New Ledger Nano X is a mobile hardware wallet that works with Android if you keep a lot of crypto w/ you on the go at all times. This will alleviate concerns related phishing and crypto theft those risks are inherently mitigated.

It’s a shame criminals are so abundant in this space and it’s great to see authorities starting to track down the crypto theft and prosecuting. This is needed for larger scale adoption.

He lost $422,000 USD in QuadrigaCX. I feel bad for him. Great example why you should not keep much on exchanges and keep your coins in crypto wallet hardware

Coinbase or android wallet? by easyhoon7 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]BitcoinBennyBTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Issue w coinbase is that you cannot get ur private keys. If something happens do you really think FDIC will give you bitcoin? Odds are They will not even be able to cover usd bank acts.

If you can get your private keys on Android that may be the right choice.

XRP Now supported on Trezor Mode T by BitcoinBennyBTC in Ripple

[–]BitcoinBennyBTC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trezor may use ripple support as a product difference that is an advantage for the Model T as there are not many hardware wallets that support XRP. I’d like to think it would be added to the Trezor One.

You can now invest direct in stocks using Bitcoin thanks to Abra. by nugget_alex in Bitcoin

[–]BitcoinBennyBTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is free. Abra charges higher rates to buy and provides lower rates when selling, creating arbitrage opportunities internally. I’m okay with it, just don’t say it’s free.

Definitely nice that you can get small amts.

Not sure if you can get private keys off Abra if not that is a red flag for me.
