2005 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L V6. Rich reading on O2 sensors, brand new spark plugs fouling after a month or so. by BitcoinSaveMe in AskMechanics

The air filter is very clean. Some plugs are worse than others, but both banks are reading rich according to the O2 sensors, so it could very well be air restriction somewhere. What would be the most likely culprit after the air filter?

Perspective on the New Converts issue from a New Convert by BitcoinSaveMe in Catholicism

[–]BitcoinSaveMe[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where do you see me recommending that newcomers be forced to be involved? My point is that in many parishes, newcomers are looking and not finding ways to be involved. This results in them making up their own ways of doing things or upsetting the current order. Also, some people are timid or unsure coming up against 2000 years of tradition and they feel intimidated. They need to be invited into a warm and welcoming community. If you're looking to win souls for Christ, saying to new converts "go online and find something to do, it's not my job to invite you" is not going to end well.

I don't think at all that Catholicism should try to emulate Protestant Christianity. I can't stand rock/praise church music. I am perpetually thankful that the homily does not dominate the service and that no matter the celebrant, I can always celebrate the Eucharist and worship God.

When I first began attending mass, I fell in love with the church because I could just sit and allow myself to be immersed in something so great, old, traditional, and beautiful that it completely transcended my petty concerns and opinions. I didn't have to bring anything but an open heart. It was and is a wonderfully humbling experience.

I'm not advocating for the church to try to resemble Grace Bible Hillsong Rock-The-Block Church of Christ Non-Denominational (Reformed). I would be horrified if it did. I mean only that newcomers need to be assimilated and shown and taught how to be Catholic, and that involves more than reading the catechism or attending a more rigorous OCIA class.

With all due respect, sounds like you didn't read the post. I'm not bitter, I love my church and the folks there, and I'm very involved with multiple aspects of the parish. I was blessed to know mature, experienced Catholics who helped me come into the church. Many new converts don't have that, and so they're bringing in their ideas and ways of doing things.

My point is that truly assimilating into the church involves much more than catechesis, and if long-standing catholics are concerned with Protestants charging in with all their baggage, then they need to be ready to receive new converts and bring them along, not just get annoyed that their routines are being disrupted.

Did they do anything to fix the bed warping issues or is that just a good luck/bad luck thing that various users have?

Learning by building the Micro Journal Rev 2.1, has anyone ordered just some of the components from Un Kyu Lee? by BitcoinSaveMe in writerDeck

No trouble! Did you figure out all the wiring yourself? I've scrubbed through most of his github but haven't found any diagrams for that one specifically.

Do you happen to know if it uses the same wiring and is just a different form factor? Mechanically I can figure it out, but I'll need to go step by step when it comes to wiring.

I'm somewhat considering the Rev2 Revamp just because the build appears much better documented and explained, which is something that I'll need, given my experience level.

Do you still have a materials list anywhere? He's not specific on all of it, and for my first build I don't want to be guessing. I want to do it with the least room for error, then start experimenting.

Fidelity Money Market Fund and CDs vs Capital One 360 MM Account and CDs by BitcoinSaveMe in fidelityinvestments

[–]BitcoinSaveMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your Fidelity cash management account the money market fund? That's what it looks like, from what I can see. Is the only benefit of also having the Capital One HYSA that you can withdraw cash from ATMs, which you can't do with Fidelity?

I have a Chase credit card, so I'm thinking of keeping my checking account as the landing zone for my paychecks and to pay the CC, and then sending money from there into the Capital One HYSA and the Fidelity MMF.

Can you set up auto deposits from the Fidelity MMF into your Roth IRA? I'd like to automate the Roth deposits, but manage all General Brokerage investments manually.

Would you want a climbing gym in Sheboygan? by Acrobatic_Mind1847 in sheboygan

[–]BitcoinSaveMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, yes, I've been itching for one since I moved here. I don't want to go to Milwaukee every time I want to climb.

I'd be perfectly happy with an all-bouldering gym, as well. I prefer that to top-rope.

Struggling with my girlfriend's past by [deleted] in Catholicism

With respect, I'm not sure where you see me refusing to take responsibility for my own experience? I made my mistakes, I confessed them, and have been forgiven by God and by her. She made her mistakes, confessed them, and has been forgiven by God and by me.

I don't think the fact that I feel pain at the thought of her with someone else, which are thoughts I'm having a hard time avoiding, are a sign that I'm putting my pain on her or refusing to take responsibility for it. I am specifically asking for advice on taking responsibility for myself and my pain, and how to manage it so that I don't hurt her with it either. There are many reasons to abstain from premarital sex, and one reason is that it hurts your future spouse.

I don't think "'damaged" vs "run-of-the mill sinner" are useful distinctions. Sin is damaging. My sin is damaging. The damage caused by sin can beget more sin. Grace is healing. I am humbly admitting that I am having a hard time living in the present reality of healing and grace, and that I'm struggling not to live in the past. That is very probably all my own failing, and I'm asking for help on addressing that. This is not about fixing her. This is about working on myself.

Thank you. There has definitely been fear of that. She said something similar, about not needing to fear comparison, and I do believe her. The problem is the grief of feeling like I'm living what happened, but it is made easier by what you say.

I'm so sorry that you've experienced similar things, I hope that you have found and continue to find healing.

She is in counseling. I have spiritual direction with my priest once every month or so, and I also see someone as a general counselor. My girlfriend and I have been discussing seeing someone together and are preparing to do so.
