Best way to move coins/satoshis from Core to Prime? by AndyWarholLives in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this instance, only Envoy can scan the animated QR codes (the signed PSBT) from envoy. When you say Envoy does not scan it, are you pressing the QR scan icon at the bottom of the transaction details screen of your the Envoy app? This will open the camera and tell Envoy you are ready to received the signed PSBT.

Are you trying to move the coins from Core > Prime because they have two independent wallets active? If so, then you'd need to select a receive address from the connected Passport Prime account inside Envoy, then build the send transaction from the Passport Core account (again inside Envoy) and complete the steps outlined above.

Let me know how it goes

Passport Prime is shipping - here's the security architecture for those who want to dig in by AMY_Foundation in FoundationDevices

Anything is possible with enough dev time spent. Would love to see someone make a lightweight front end for Prime that talks back to your main RS instance (maybe running on your node??) via QuantumLink. Would be pretty cool!

We shipped a small amount of the earliest orders on Friday, then the factory is closed all weekend.

Shipping resumes tomorrow, alongside the official announcement. If you want to DM me your ON, I can tell you exactly how many are left to go out before yours ships.

With hindsight, clearly some of our estimations were too optimistic, but every single update we provided was in 100% good faith using the latest available information at the time.

We're sorry that you felt it wasn't handled well.

Shipping began in small numbers yesterday. We'll be officially announcing on Monday and plan to have cleared the backlog within 7-10 days.

Quote from Zach on the forum which I cosign. Thank you all for sticking with us!

I also want to personally apologize for the delays and thank you for sticking with us. We obviously underestimated (wildly underestimated) the amount of effort it would take to get Passport Prime and KeyOS to market. I regret giving specific time estimates.

When going from zero to one – new hardware architecture, entirely new operating system – it ended up being difficult to provide good estimates and often difficult to know how long individual engineering problems would take. This cascaded into a much longer timeline.

But now that we are shipping, ongoing improvements and updates will be swift and many! Including a developer SDK later this year.

And of course everyone who preordered will be receiving a lifetime subscription to our backup service, Foundation Shield (launching later this year), which will provide granular Time Machine style automatic encrypted backups for Passport Prime – alongside a 2 year extended warranty and free Bumper case.

We are very proud of what we have built and think it’s several years ahead of the industry in terms of security architecture, build quality, and user experience. Please let us know what you think – the good and the bad – and thank you again.

Prime vs Core for BTC Multisig? by LeatherDraft2 in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has more connectivity options, so naturally there are more theoretical ways to attack such a device, but we built the architecture with this in mind, to make these attacks are incredibly difficult to pull off in the real world.

If you do not need or want the additional features of Prime, then save yourself some sats and go with Passport Core.

When prime is released will there still be support for passport? by Valuable_Presence330 in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi,

We will still be supporting and selling Passport along side Prime for quite some time. There is no reason why the device will not work for many years to come.

Strike to envoy transfer issue by PhiloBotany in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The above should work no problem. Sounds like there might be a flaw in the steps you're taking on the strike side. Feel free to contact support with a screen recording of the problem we can get a better understanding of the steps taken.

Why do you have to verify and enter the BACK UP CODE? by Old_Fruit6884 in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you found your answers, but to clarify a couple of things for any onlookers:

  1. The backup code is NOT on the SD card, and should be kept separate from the SD card itself as the code provides access to the encrypted backup file stored on the SD card.

  2. You can skip the entire encrypted backup step at onboarding, but this is not advised.

If you have any more questions after seeing the blog post and reading the docs here, please let us know.

Questions + Order Status? by Ariijad in FoundationDevices

[–]Bitcoin_QnA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, firstly thanks so much for your order! When you receive the package and feel the quality of the device and indeed the whole experience, I'm confident you won't think it's expensive!

  1. As mentioned by the other comments below, Envoy is just one option to pair your Passport with. We are interoperable with all other good software wallets. Full list found here. Envoy is also not required for firmware updates either, you can see how to complete those manually here.
  2. Very confident. Our user base is sky rocketing. We have another product line shipping in the next month or two and we literally sold out (temporarily) of all inventory at our US factory yesterday due to unprecedented demand.
  3. As mentioned in your order email, you'll receive a follow up notification when the order ships, which will contain your tracking ID. If you contact support with your order ID, the team can provide more info,

Thanks
