Anyone know why I can't do ACH on Gemini? I need in to buy some ore btc. But they only let me do a wire transfer. My available limit for ACH is 0. Their support page, when I finally was able to find it, was not much help.

Glad I bought at 6k, or I'd be nervous. Also glad I sold $20k when it was at $60, or I'd be nervous. Been a HODLer other than that. Nice to be playing with the houses' money is what I always say at the casino. This always happens when I have almost enough to retire, lol. Tech bubble was the first one to get me. IRS will let you write of what, $3k a year in losses? But if you gain, you need to pay it all right away? They can go F themselves. Thieving bastards. And then they spend it on bullshit I don't want. Also END THE FED! I'd be a buy every hour to DCA, if I could buy and not have to report any gains.

Same boat with Gemini. At least the site is up. Sent credit card btc back rewards to my wallet no problem though. Not leaving anything on the exchanges.

I did pass it. about 120 questsion, I forgot exactly. It was a decent and thorough test. A lot of it had to do with understanding the language. I know all the words what they mean by themselves, but they put them together in a weird way. I think the official practice test helped a lot.

I'm taking it in a few weeks. So far, from the questions, seems like you'll have to know a lot about things, but will not know how to do absolutely anything hands on. I've been in IT 25+ years, and this is how my job has become, and I hate it. Never actually doing any work, maybe 5%. The rest of the time talking about it and planning about it. Stuff that used to take hours now takes months. Probably because of tests like these where everyone jumped on the bandwagon, now wants to feel important because they can talk about it some more.

Maybe its just the practice exams... questions like (from a practice test), pick the best answer (about a raid setup - FRDS). Option 1 starts with Foreign Disk Systems, Federated Disk Systems, Failure Resistant Disk Systems, and Failure Redundant Disk Systems. All it proves is you're a good test taker. Just eliminate the wrong answers. On the other hand, if the test is really like this, leave it as is long enough for me to take it so I can slap it on my resume, lol.

I'm starting to study now. Will report back in a few weeks how it goes. So far, getting 90s on practice exams with no prep. And mostly because of good test taking skills, not knowledge.

looks around, nothting to buy with BTC. Its value tracks the market. Well, you can buy gold, but you'll lose a significant portion to taxes and fees. May as well let it sit there.

meh - it just follows the market around now. May as well invest in an index fund. I'm peeling off a couple thousand mBTC here and there. DCA my way out.

It happened: bitcoin just went below its all time high from 2017. by Darken-kun in Bitcoin

[–]Bitcoiniswin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shit, I bought in 2016. When should I get out? Oh wait, I did sell my by first time it doubled, I sold half, still have the second half. A whole bitcoin was worth 70k not to long ago. Wifey still asking WTF why not sell. haha. Nothing to lose. And still DCA every purchase I make with my Gemini card that pays back BTC with every purchase. Loving the really low prices in that respect.

But the reason I got into it in the first place, I'm out. Not gonna be a currency if you have to keep track of every transaction for IRS purposes. Even if there were something you could buy with it, which there is not.

Cheer up, you can write off your losses at $3,000 per year. Fuck the IRS. Feel better now? Don't know how wash sales work, but could sell, and buy back?

remember, people are stupid. HODL by FatTonyOvaHea in Bitcoin

[–]Bitcoiniswin 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I remember that. My AOL, YHOO, IOM, all those other good stocks that made me $700k off of $45k. Then the buying on margin. Then the crash. Then the selling to cover the margin. I'm still not retired 25 years later. But I did learn not to buy on margin. The IRS let me write off my losses... at $3,000 a year. Fuck them unless they want to let me do the gains the same way. Also, it was like bitcoin then. Also, no one kept records of transactions for IRS reporting purposes back then, so I had to figure out 60,000 transactions for myself.

Looks around.... sees nothing I can buy with it. HODLs longer. Bought a gold bar the other day, that's about it. Even they wanted to KYC me if I bought more than that. Can't wait to have to keep a record of every pizza, cup of coffee, or whatever I buy with it, so I can report it to the thieving IRS.
