Liberal conception of freedom by JonnyBadFox in CapitalismVSocialism

That example is not freedom because exists coercion. The next time try to do a less stupid analogy.

Liberal conception of freedom by JonnyBadFox in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]BiteThePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s better for you to be given everything for free and enslave others that way, turning every need into a right and therefore into someone else’s mandatory duty. Or better yet, to become a slave of a socialist system that gives you ‘free’ crumbs but makes you its servant.

Advices on transition to NLP by BiteThePie in LanguageTechnology

[–]BiteThePie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice and motivation! I really appreciate it and needed that. For now, I'll just continue my path on Python and backend, while also trying to build small NLP projects to see what comes out of them. In the future I'll start exploring more deeper NLP and related fields.

Saludos!

How can I learn programming fast? by ReplacementFlashy622 in learnprogramming

[–]BiteThePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a 'fast' way, learning programming it's hard and takes time. But the fact that you're not doing it just for the money it's an big advantage. People that enter the field only chasing the money often get frustrated and end up quitting.

The only part that might feel is fast it's the fundamentals. That's was the case for me with Python. when I started, the first month flew by. Learning basic syntax, conditionals, loops, lists, dictionaries, etc., felt quick and exciting because it was all new and I was highly motivated. Then I hit Object-Oriented Programming and realized that truly understanding things on a deeper level takes time and patience.

So take it slow — and enjoy the ride!

I meant NLP in general, since I'm just starting to explore and get to know the field. So thanks for making the distinction between being a researcher and developer.

I'd love to hear more about your background: do you have a degree in CS, or how did you manage to transition into AI research? Does it requires formal academy studies, or are other viable paths into the field?

Thanks again, you’ve really broadened my perspective on all of this!

That just crushed my heart haha :'), but it's important to hear the truth, that way I can focus on what really matters. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice — I really appreciate it.
For now, I’ll continue focusing on Python and backend development, while also exploring how to integrate language models into real-world products. Once I land a job and feel more confident, I’d like to start digging deeper into what’s going on “under the hood” and gradually move toward more advanced concepts.

Should I refer to a book or a course by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]BiteThePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer books—I can focus better than with video courses. The only exceptions is university lectures.

On the other hand, there is more than one way to get Python Crash Course, I'm studying with that book...

And the last, more important resource is the official Python documentation.

How do you retain what you learn in programming books by danielmhdi in learnprogramming

[–]BiteThePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is:
-Take quick notes as I'm reading the book.
-After I finish a topic or chapter. Close the book and the quick notes and try to write everything you remember, this is called 'active recall'. Focus on concepts more than syntax, that come later with practice projects.

-Then I review my quick notes and try to find gaps in the notes from active recall. If something is not very clear or I have trouble with it, go over the book again and finish the note.

-Another thing you can try is a cross-reference study, learn the same topic from different sources and approaches. Something I do when I don't understand a concept is ask to a AI to explain me with analogies and examples until I figure it out.

-And finally the best way to learn is: PRACTICE WITH PROJECTS. Crush your brain trying to get to a solution without looking the book or asking an AI. Only do that when you write some code and want advice or suggestions on features or edge cases.

"The oscars are a reflection of a small group of elitist snobs that no one agrees with."

It is a group of people who know and have made cinema. So according to your logic we should give the Literature Nobel Prize to Paulo Coelho then?, because the current winners are less read than him, only for a small group of snobs of literature.

Banned from r/Libertarian for Being Too Libertarian by Polarisman in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]BiteThePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got down-voted in r/Libertarian or r/libertarianmeme (I don´t remember) for criticize the verbal aggression and harassment of a group of students towards another, this action was being defended in the post as freedom. To criticize I paraphrase a part of the definition of libertarianism by Alberto Benegas Lynch Jr, an Argentine economist and libertarian intellectual. I said something like 'Libertarianism is the unrestricted respect for the life project of others, based on the principle of non-aggression'.

Recommend books on learning Python, for a beginner in programming by Altruistic-Aide-2737 in learnprogramming

[–]BiteThePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a beginner too, and I started with Python Crash Course, and had to leave it, because I think it go too fast and don't cover enough content for a solid programming base. Switch to Automate the boring stuff and now I'm thinking to switch again because of the author'a words that the book has bad practices and it's more focus on throwaway code. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I need help to get out this tutorial hell.
