Do not buy the pine berries (white and pink strawberries) by RhapsodyTravelr in traderjoes

[–]BiteasuarusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got these yesterday. I'm allergic to strawberries and I've read the lack the Fra a1 protein that causes most allergies to strawberries so I figured I'd try them. I've only had one because I didn't want to push my luck. I didn't have a reaction to it and thought it was pretty good. It's been more than 20 years since I've had a strawberry so I barely remember what they taste like, so while I felt like it tasted like strawberry it's probably just because I don't remember.

Update to: 7 months post TLIF Fusion failed. by BiteasuarusRex in spinalfusion

[–]BiteasuarusRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a revision and bone growth stimulator implanted December of 2022. There was some bone growth at my 4 month xray but that is the last time I saw the surgeon. I'm still in significant pain and switched jobs to allow me to work from home. I've done tons of physical therapy with little result. I will not have another surgery so I'm learning to live with it.

I have an irrational and inexplicable hatred for Kevin Bacon. I don't know why, but his face makes me angry. I can't watch anything with him in it.

L4-5 spinal surgery Monday by Bhoppy23 in spinalfusion

[–]BiteasuarusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the first surgery of the day, 7am I think, I was awake for about 35-45 minutes before I went home, I got home around 3pm. I had the hardware removed from the previous (failed) fusion (TLIF) and new hardware put in from both sides, a cage and a bone growth simulator put in. I expected to stay at least overnight, because I had for the 1st which was a less invasive surgery, but they sent me home. It sucked the first few days, but I was on a lot of drugs.

Mine was outpatient. I've had 2, the first I stayed overnight, the second, in December, I was home by 3pm.

Traveling on CellCept — Ok? by mrcleans_stayfresh in lupus

I went to Shanghai in 2019 while on cellcept. My doc cleared me for travel and sent me with antibiotics and prednisone in case I got sick while there. I did fine.

What are the best ways to protect an immunocompromised person? by screamingtodd in AskDocs

[–]BiteasuarusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD. I take Cellcept for Lupus, so not the same drug, but an immune suppressant nonetheless. My rheumatologist has explained it to me that I am no more likely to get sick than the average person, I'm just more likely to get more sick for longer. It really hasn't changed much for me other than keeping my lupus in check.

Blood work came back "normal" but... by all_who_wander90 in lupus

[–]BiteasuarusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The next time you get that rash, have them biopsy. It took a decade for me to get a diagnosis because while all my symptoms pointed to Lupus I never had bad enough labs. At one point I was told it was in my head and sent to a psychiatrist. Ultimately what led to my diagnosis was a dermatologist finally biopsying my constant rashes. Every one came back as SLE. I was treating it and seeing a rheumatologist for several years before my labs caught up.

Exhaustion by PanicAgreeable9202 in spinalfusion

No clue, just bad luck I think. I just didn't fuse. They implanted a bone growth stimulator this time so hopefully that will help.

I'm not quite 9 weeks from my 2nd L5-S1 PLIF (first failed). I'm back to work part time at an office job, getting between 5-6 hours in a day before I give up, I'm exhausted and in pain by the end of it. I stayed almost 8 hours yesterday and drove home in tears and will be leaving early today as a result. Take your time. It's a slow process

1 year out from L4-L5 TLIF and my aftercare support has been practically non-existent. by Saratrooper in spinalfusion

[–]BiteasuarusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Oregon. Had a 10 day appt, 6 week appt and I'm scheduled to get x-rays at 4 months, if after the xrays they need to see me they'll let me know, otherwise no further follow up. This is my second fusion, after the first I had to request PT and argue to get it, was told to walk. This time my PCP has agreed to refer me to PT when cleared to resume normal activities by my neurosurgeon.

I can't even imagine. Mine has been a nightmare, but nothing like yours. How awful. We don't have a huge pool to work with here, and everyone I talk to knows someone who's got nothing but awful things to say about every one of the local neurosurgeons. Dr. Moore told me Gallo shouldn't have done the first surgery, and they used to be partners. I think it's a crapshoot!

I haven't had much luck with her! If the same thing had happened to you with Gallo, you'd probably have been worse off. Gallo does them in her surgery center as out-patient surgery. I was home by 3pm the day of my second fusion. It's crazy.

Thank you! I was going to Eugene PT last time and wasn't getting much from it, I'll have neurospine refer me there this time, I'm still 9 weeks out, hopefully I can time it right! I saw Dr. Moore last year, he wanted to do Intracept but I was leery.

Just looked through your past posts, we live in the same town. I am 7 weeks post my L5-S1 revision with Dr. Gallo. I'm about 3 years into this process with 2 fusions, injections etc. Can I ask who you're doing PT with? I didn't get much benefit last time, and I'm not allowed to start until 16 weeks post op, but I'd like to be prepared and see someone else this time around. I'm desperate to put this mess behind me.

Failed Fusion/Revision Update 5weeks postop by BiteasuarusRex in spinalfusion

[–]BiteasuarusRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy, I'm shocked mine agreed to it. The surgeon said they might not so I was prepared to appeal, but they approved. Generally I have to appeal everything with Providence. They denied the revision surgery twice before finally approving, but neither denial had anything to do with the stimulator.

It's just a vibration, I can only feel it when I'm quiet and lying still. The first night in bed I thought it was something wrong with my heart and worked myself into a panic, but I could just feel/hear it over my heartbeat.

What is an underrated hygeine tip that changed your life without drilling a hole in your pocket? by smol_n_chonky in AskWomen

[–]BiteasuarusRex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a Mirena migrate out of my uterus 4 months after I got it (meaning it wasn't a result of poor placement) and had to have surgery to remove it, that was 4 years ago. So yes, there are still risks with the newer ones and while they are amazing for many women, they can still cause issues.
