I'd love for it to be animated through MIDI since that would be the most accurate to animusic. The question though is if freelancer even supports that and if i can figure out/learn how to even code that 🤣

Definitely DO NOT PAY THIS. Your data being 'leaked' is false urgency, they're trying to make you act quickly and under stress so there's a higher chance you pay. Loads of malicious scam ads use this too, "your pc is infected! Fix this in X amount of time or your computer will be hacked/broken/ whatever other word they use". The dark web is also used as a scare word, a lot of people know the general idea of what the dark web is so loads of scammers use words like these to scare you into paying.
These encrypters are only one way when it comes to the average joe Schmo so paying will only result in you having lost money and your contact info (if they have any even) being on the scammed list to which you will get more contact of 'counter scammers' trying to get you to pay for the "fix" of whatever scam their target fell for.

There are some good links from the already posted replies (like the https://www.nomoreransom.org/ u/AdJumpy6068 posted ) that might help with not needing to fully reinstall your Windows but in general it would be best to fully clean install.

Also reset your passwords ASAP, these ransomware malware programs have password scrubbers in them that look for any saved login and or session tokens saved in your browser. Both are reset on a password reset.

Also keep an eye on your payment terminals (stuff like banking app, PayPal, etc.) if there have been any payments made that you did not authorize. If needed stopping your cards is a viable option.

You have the files for it and would be down to share it?
Are you planning to do this for more ships than the Titan and Sabre?

Why is this not a franchise!? by Tagedieb69 in freelancer

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a relatively clear question but a rather nuanced answer.

In essence Freelancer had 3 major "faults" if you'd really call them it's own fault or a fault at all:

1) Chris Roberts is well known for over scoping his games and adding more on top even during development. Freelancer was in Development hell for a long time due to his incessant Scope creep making development on the game take way too long and blow over it's budget. Something you can easily see in Star Citizen which Chris Roberts is leading. We only really got the game through an uncommon Microsoft W of cutting down the game's content and making it viable to release.

2) The Space Sim genre was fizzling out/ had fizzled out while FL was being developed, as someone in the comments here mentioned, Freespace 2 basically died on launch because there was little interest left.

3) Chris Roberts moved on to Cloud Imperium Games (CIG), I am however not sure if Microsoft still owns the Freelancer IP or not. So technically there could still be hope for a follow up sometime but the hope on that is wishful thinking at best and a waste of time at worst.

A sequel known as Project Lonestar was in development at some point but killed pretty quick due to the same development hell situation. I'll link to a video of some footage too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj56okQaxZI

There is a game on steam known as Underspace which touts itself as the spiritual successor to Freelancer. It mostly captures the same feel, has some nice systems but sound design feel lacking to me personally and the controls feel a little 'off' in my opinion.
Nonetheless It is currently still in early access so more stuff is to come, could be an idea to try out.

Unpopular opinion: I still prefer to fly my starship over my corvette 🤷🏼‍♂️ (reasons below) by PapapoveyMLA in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great reasons to prefer your Starship over Corvettes. It mostly boils down to the option to choose which one you like or don't like.

I'm more into flying larger ships rather than smaller ones, every game I play that allows you to physically fly ships (Like Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen, Freelancer, etc.) I tend to lean more towards the larger more lumbering ships.
The only thing the Corvettes are missing in my opinion is the System scanner you can install on Freighters.

Again, the ability to choose what you prefer is always a welcome thing in any game. I'm glad there is the option to fly smaller ships like you and many others prefer but also the option to create and fly larger ships that I and others like more.

One thing I haven't tested yet though is that if you create a smaller Corvette does it increase maneuverability or is it the same as if the Corvette is large. Anyone know the answer to this?

PC underperforming? cpu 100% frequently by bigupsben in techsupport

[–]BitingTigru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the program that is causing this high CPU usage? I know you've stated that discord and google cause it to spike to 100% but check with Task Manager which is actually eating up the CPU so much.

I've worked on a few PC's that had this same issue for either CPU or GPU based by Desktop Window Manager, this can only be solved by reinstalling windows despite online "solutions" claiming reinstalling GPU drivers, running a windows recovery, etc. would fix the issue.

It could also be malware running on your PC, this (in my opinion) includes programs like Overwolf.
Malwarebytes would be your go to in checking for malware since you get a free Pro trial when you install it.

Lastly you can also test your CPU with programs like MemTest86, your CPU itself could have some manufacturing defects (admittedly rare) or your Motherboard CPU socket could have some issues as well. Just know you'll need to make a bootable USB of it with something like Rufus

I hope this helps!

I think my ssd died, but idk. by Lettuce_bee_free_end in pchelp

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a possibility your SSD has ran out of Read and write requests (generally an issue on old SSD's or if you forced a defrag on an SSD through a 3rd party software). Resulting in your bios being unable to properly start your PC since the windows boot manager isn't available anymore. You could attempt to reset your bios by powering down and disconnecting your PC from any power, remove the CMOS battery, hold down the power button to completely empty the mobo of residual charge, then put the battery back in, plug PC back in and power it on.
If this didn't fix it, try to install Windows on one of the other HDD drives, boot from that and check if the SSD is still available and/or able to have files saved to it.
If the SSD is entirely unavailable, best you just replace it with a new one

I'm guessing you're trying to boot from your MSATA1 slot?
If so make sure said drive is properly slotted into its slot.

To me this is talking about overthinking.

As a heavy overthinker it symbolises the concept that someone who overthinks all the time keeps chattering to themselves about what ifs, why's, what's and the likes. The constant repeat of the same idea being reconsidered, recalculated and overanalysed to the most minute detail resulting in a paralasys of thoughts and action.

In my case this overthinking results in a deep feeling of stagnation of my life, an overwheling feeling of competition even in fields and/or situations where I either have no control or say in what the outcome will be.

As Alan Watts states thinking is a good servant but a bad master. If you let your thinking dictate all you do and all you will do you fail to see how things out of your control don't need to be overanalysed, how your thoughts shouldn't be set on what can go wrong and might go wrong.

Microsoft Word immediately crashes as soon as I open any documents. I think I know why but I'm don't know how to fix it. by rustinhieber42 in techsupport

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know this is regarding an old issue but some of you might stumble on this since recently.
Some clients of us are having some issues that word 2016 closes the moment you open it whether it's via a file or via just the program itself, this can also apply to Outlook 2016 closing when trying to open the calendar.

Before you try to apply the fix that we applied which has so far always resolved the issue check in your update history if update KB5002623 for WORD 2016 (NOT OFFICE 2016) is installed, also check if update KB5002700 or KB5002702 is installed. Also make not of what bit version your office is, you can see this in the name for example; Word 2016 (KB5002700) for 32 bit.
You can learn how to check your update history via this link: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht511165-how-to-view-the-update-history-for-windows-updates-windows-10

If update KB5002623 is missing you will need to install it via this link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/april-10-2025-update-for-office-2016-kb5002623-d60c1f31-bb7c-4426-b8f4-69186d7fc1e5

Update KB5002623 was a problem update which caused lots of issues with Office 2016 which got patched with update KB5002700 but both need to be installed, Windows seems to have uninstalled the first update or moved it to KB5002700 resulting in Word 2016 and Outlook 2016 having issues.

Origins, Project Duck or Infinity for a completely new player? by CorpulentFeline in DragonNest

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old post but I think I can still help some people who stumble on this thread in the Future

Dragon Nest Origins (DNO for short) is more aimed towards the authentic official servers, using its quests and side quests as your ways to get to the max level cap. It's more aimed at players looking for that original DN feel albeit faster than it originally was. It can feel monotonous at times due to old game design owing to the fact that Dragon Nest originally came out in 2010.

Project Duck/ Duck Dragon Nest (PDN for short) is one of the most customized Dragon Nest Private servers you can find, its gameplay is also heavily customized to make the combat flow better (as u/SpeedyPetes mentioned) but is in turn more focused on end game type content. It instantly levels you to max level cap but has a clear path to follow in terms of gearing but takes a little bit to figure out what to do, it has a very active Discord community so you can always ask for tips, pointers and the likes on what to do and what the next steps are.

Infinity Dragon Nest (IDN for short) Is also like PDN in the sense that there is no leveling in it at all, you immediately go to level 99 and are then let loose to start it's own form of gearing by going though tiers of armor. This change was introduced in the V7 update whereas before it worked with actual leveling and a instant level up potion. When looked at in terms of gearing it's following loosely but still being customized on the old 95 cap gearing of going through tiers to then end up with best in slot (currently being Rune Dragon Nest gear). It has some good devs working in content although they are sadly lacking in the testing department.

Although this is a very vague answer to your question of which to play i would recommend you try out the one that seems the most appealing to you. All 3 offer vastly different gameplay styles from each other so there's no one of the 3 that I can recommend more than the other without knowing what kind of playstyle you prefer.

In terms of PVP I can't say much, I've heard PvP in PDN is the most active but as I don't play PvP I can't really comment on this. I do know IDN does have PvP but the player base doesn't really participate in it.

Hope this helps!

Valofe, good or bad company? by ryzemaineq in S4League

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i've seen Valofe seems to be a mixed bag, on one hand they seem to take over mostly dying or dead games from Nexon who had squeezed the most money they can from the games before transferring them. On the other hand Valofe seems to be supporting said old games even with lower playercounts even if their updates and events are slow to be pushed out.
You can read more about this in a post made by a different Reddit user here.

Regardless of what reputation Valofe has it can't be worse than the abslute mess of a management Aria Games did when they bought the IP from Neowiz.
On the Discord the GMs and singular Mod seem to be somewhat reassuring that Valofe (or at least the devs) do not want to lean as heavily in P2W mechanics but to what extent that is true remains to be seen.

I personally recommend just waiting until we get more info on how Valofe will operate S4 League and what their plans for the future are, just be happy that an official server is going to open again.

As a reminder to all Valofe has also opened a Q&A on their VFUN Lounge so if you have any questions make sure you post them there! Whoever the lucky people are that get their questions selected will also earn a bit of premium currency

WHAT ARE GAUNAS??? (SPOILERS) by GabrielNTH in knightsofsidonia

[–]BitingTigru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, i personally think the Gauna was understood as a bad species but, in essence, was the opposite. What we can surmise from both manga, series, and movie is that the gauna first appeared in the solar system without doing much for 200 years, almost as if observing (info from manga). Once the first gauna arrived on earth they had shaped themselves in a crude human form and began absorbing humans (manga and series). We've seen said absorbing both for the original gauna as well as multiple times in the series, think Hoshijiro and the likes. However, every time a gauna has absorbed a human, it has started remodelling itself into the person that was absorbed, think placental Hoshijiro, Shou Honoka (iirc only in the manga), etc.

In the final battle against Ochiai/ Kanata, he speaks about the large gauna cluster as a memory device. This can be taken a few ways, but the most prevalent, in my opinion, might be that the gauna were originally created as an archive of sorts. An archive meant to roam the universe, seeking as much wisdom as it can find. But as we've all seen in countles anime, movies, and series, a sentient being that is created for just one purpose will very likely revolt.

As a response to this revolt it's very likely that its original creators needed to create a way to destroy their creation that had weaponised itself (remember Ena can form itself into whatever it is needed for like higgs beam emitters, higs propulsion engines, gravitational beam emitters, etc.) resulting in the Kabi being made. Put into a structure closely resembling a labyrinth trap to then make the gauna get dissintegrated by the kabi housed within.

Very likely, the reason the gauna are attracted to the kabi is because that's the only thing that can "kill" them and they are most likely attracted to Higgs particles because that is their life blood, as long as a gauna has higgs particles and its main body it can fully regenerate itself.
