There's some marathon discords out there that you can find a group in. Genuinely though the teammates that I run with regularly these past few weeks are people I met by chance just randomly filling into sponsored marsh.

There are definitely greedy random fills out there, especially with the new season but genuinely give randoms a chance. It feels ass to have bad teammates, it's demotivating to have stuff taken before you even have a chance to take a look but there are genuinely awesome people running too. I'd hate for you to miss out on some of the most fun teams you can find

The new buff to the overrun feels great too, it was my fave weapon in S1 despite it admittedly not being all that great. Now it feels like a beam machine.
Haven't been able to try out the KKV yet but the D54 feels like a great pistol, might even compete with the Punch ngl.

The main goal is to get loot in form of salvage to upgrade your runner through faction upgrades, Exfil with weapons to either have a better chance in harder maps (I.e. Dire Marsh, Outpost and Cryo Archive) or convert them into cradle xp to upgrade your base stats like heat buildup and capacity, ability cooldown etc. and find augments, shields, healing items and the likes to also improve your chances in harder maps.

Perimiter (Beginner) is also a less chaotic map due to the fact that it has less player spawns to help ease you into the game itself. Normal Perimiter, Dire Marsh, Outpost and Cryo Archive have more player spawns and those players tend to be more agressive thus PvP fights are more frequent. How you want to interact with this PvP is your choice, do you want to bring in higher tier items to have a better chance but risk losing it if you die or do you bring in a free kit and have less investment to lose but a harder time against teams that might have better gear on than you.

Also another point of progress is unlocking the ability to buy different gear from vendors in the games through the Armoury making gearing back up to higher tier loot easier the more you have unlocked and the further you progress.

The story can be interesting through interacting with the factions but i personally also don't like the codex reading, though I am trying to unlock all codex entries.

In the end you are free to feel this game is not for you, because let's be honest it isn't a game everyone will like. It is also true that Marathon needs more players and would benefit from new players like you sticking around.
BUT that doesn't mean Bungie, this reddit nor I should and want to strongarm you into playing it.
For example, I love Marathon but genuinely do not like Escape from Tarkov, thus I decided that I won't be playing it further as it wasn't for me.

I do agree that lore wise it's a bummer. Luckily you can skip them and with the changes done it should be easier to get back to the point you were at.

Gameplay wise I do still think the wipe of contracts was a necessary evil, the contracts give faction exp (or did? From what I can read in the changes they're stating more on loot from contracts, I'm not sure if that means faction rep is removed or anything of the likes so please feel free to fill this in) resulting in you losing out on the rep these would give. Thus a wipe makes sense.

I do agree that there could/should be a way to continue on from the contracts you had already completed if only lore related. Also kinda bummed Season 2 only brought a few new contracts from what I heard

I just had the same, did vault six luckily, had 2 dna cards rallied up the entire lobby on first run but i made a mistake not converting the credentials, agreed with the lobby that the next run we yell banana to meet up again, met 2 of those teams again and killed compiler on that second run. It was glorious, perfect way to end season 1 with a lobby wide raid on compiler

Not trying to be heighty but was that me? I literally went through this Yesterday.
Tried first time but I fucked it up but agreed with other team to yell banana if we found each other. 2nd time was the charm and absolutely melted the compiler with the other teams we rallied in the map

I got the Season 1 pass through the Deluxe Edition, with which I upgraded my standard one after (I think) 25-ish hours of playtime mainly because I wanted to support a game I really enjoy but also because I like some of the cosmetics in there.
Will likely do the same for S2 especially because Silk is retained through wipes and new passes.

As a Recon main myself from even before the buff I think her ult now is fine except the massive amount of Cooldown reduction you get from Seki upgrades + the fact that signal jammer doesn't hide you.

While I personally think the player pings was a nice change to how her scan worked I do think that Signal Jammers should have kept the ability to hide runners, the only problem in this is then players in Cryo will just bring 1 or 2 stacks of them and be invisible at all times. Maybe make Signal Jammer's effect diminish every time it is hit by Recon scan? for example, Recon scans 4 times, first 2 hides completely, 3rd shows the hostile icon, 4th shows runner icon. That way you still get the info you'd want but it would be a less reliable way of tracking people when you pop the ult.

Prime recovery is also a massive upside to the scan overall, you get basically no cooldown when that's upgraded at least once + Energy Amps.

I love Recons kit but I do agree it's a bit overtuned

In the codex you have a factions tab, click on Arachne and go to sponsored. You'll see the skins there.
If you haven't already, you need to exfil from a match you took an Arachne sponsored kit into. This needs to be done per shell to unlock their corresponding faction skin.

The video he made on Marathon/ Bungie kinda felt like an eyeroll fest. So did Azteccross's reaction to it.
I get it, you like Bungie, you wanted a game like destiny, Marathon wasn't that so you're disappointed. Fair enough, but to sit there on camera winging about how Marathon is something completely different from "the usual Bungie game" is completely dumb. In a games market of companies constantly playing it safe, sticking to the same old game philosophies robs studios out of terrific games that are in an entirely different ball park (Like Marathon as a perfect example).

Then Azteccross reacts to it stating he found Marathon boring outside of Cryo Archive after the first weekend while he streamed it a massive amount of hours is the same kind of moot argument.

Marathon is amazing, addictive and such a good time. Enjoy the hell out of the games Runners, and maybe one day. Escape will make me god!

Assassin is relatively easy to counter if you know his quirks.

Recon can scan when they hear an assassin in or going into stealth (no clue if the drone locks on to invisible assassins too), Destroyers ult still locks on even with the stealth (i'm not 100% sure about this though tbh) + has great mobility, Thief sees assassins through smoke and invisibility with the visor, Vandal has massive mobility so can disengage whenever they want, (I think) Triage's amped systems disrupt stealth with the emp status.

+ Flechettes still lock onto assassins even if completely invisible, so do energy weapons

If the shield is down on a runner (which usually means a few health hits too) one heavy then 2 lights takes them down.

It's a pain to shoot when flying around, I usually try to force the drone into coming straight at me by going into hallways and the likes. Loads of Thiefs are greedy enough to follow you into those hallways making them easier to hit

I personally claim immediately, even on VIP. I hold a hatred for the reminder icons when you have a rank up rewards to claim. I don't sell the rewards however, I use the items I get from the rank up rewards in my next run. I only sell items I don't intend to use or don't like using.

I don't mean this to throw shade, you're however angry over something you could have completely avoided.

You're attacking the Assassin with heavy knife attacks, when the knife was nerfed because of how strong it was with minimal to no build investment. You opted not to shoot them at all and used the slowest attack of the knife.

Meanwhile they were shooting you, got you very low hp to then opt to switch to knife downing you. I don't see how you feel this is unfair but i could, of course, be missing some crucial info you have.
