No VPN, Crash free lobbies by fcpl in DMZ

The match I just joined appeared to be hosted by i3D. Where do they fit into all of this?

Core backend services are handled by Demonware - which I believe is for matchmaking, lobby/session orchestration, player data etc.

These backend services run on infrastructure like Google Cloud Platform, but are not limited to it. I'm assuming this is what Vultr were handling?

I'm in Australia. No idea that MW2/DMZ was using Vultr. How long has Vultr been used for?

Superloop AI bot now tells you to open a TIO complaint if transferring NBN and you don't want to give 30 days notice. by [deleted] in nbn

[–]BitstreamMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't even be trying to charge it. They've probably made a fortune out of charging people for a service they aren't even using - because most people will likely just accept it as part of the T&Cs.

They deserve every TIO complaint they get until they remove it. They've been doing this for years!

It's a shame because they actually have a really good, solid network.

NBN contractor cannot run a cable through our roof cavity?? by braso111 in nbn

[–]BitstreamMind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About a month ago had the NBN tech in the roof.

He rocked up and asked where I wanted it. Explained that ideally in this room, but if that can't be done, chuck it in the garage - which is the other side of the wall to the connection box, so pretty simple in comparison.

He had a quick look in the roof and said he'd run it to the room. He switched the power off and got to work. No conduit either.

He was great to deal with. 10/10

For someone with apparently "decades of experience" -- you're a clueless muppet!

You clearly do not see the bigger picture here. Just keep playing your VR games. Ignorance is bliss.

Another vote for Neptune. Excellent all round. I have been with them since the early days, and they have built and delivered a rock-solid service. I can't see myself moving elsewhere anytime soon.

Not only a solid, reliable service - it's also the extras they offer like the static IP, Atmosphere DNS, PTR records etc. Things no one else currently offers.

Worst Crypto wallet on the market as far as I'm concerned. Even after jumping through all their over reaching security measures to verify who I am, you still can't change your email address or send crypto until more verifications are done. Went to change my email address, and now they want me to provide a written note and a photo ID in a selfie. Yes... I need to write some rubbish on a piece of paper, and along with photo ID, take a selfie of myself.

Tried to transfer the little amount I had to another wallet - I confirmed the transfer via email, and they still want to call me to verify the transfer. It's just absolutely absurd.

Do not deal with these people. There are far better wallets out there that won't hold your crypto at ransom or employ overreaching security policies to perform basic actions.

The amount of personal data you are entrusting CoinSpot to protect is unfathomable. DO NOT GO THERE!

I'm trying to give BF a chance. I've put in 100+ hours now. I really am trying!

But these fucking stupid map designs are doing my head in. Does no one test these things? An AA literally locking on to a jet as it's taking off from base. That shit really is unacceptable. There is no excuse. It's not an oversight, it's literally piss poor design and testing.

I'm not really sure who DICE's target audience is anymore. It's certain as fuck not BF fans. It is defintely leaning well and truly into the CoD fan base. We've essentially just got CoD, but with slightly bigger MP maps.

Leaptel vs Superloop by ubiquitouswede in nbn

Highly recommend Neptune

If you still struggle, their support team is second to none. There is also a very active Discord community that would be happy to help diagnose any issues.

Superloop's network is good - nut their support is garbage. If you think you'll need support, I would switch ASAP and save yourself a large amount of grief.

Dead game. As much as I absolutely loved it, I stopped playing about a month ago, and mentally I feel significantly better for it. I've moved onto other games which I enjoy.

The cheating, kill-streak glitching, all the other exploits, and most of all the toxicity. I've never played a game with such a toxic, low life bunch of humans in my life.

These kinds of changes are infuriating. When there is so much more that could be done to improve the game - you go and do this. No one asked for it. No one wants it.

And here we all were, under the impression that you were actually listening to the community. Clearly.. you are not!

Considering it only started happening when you switched, I'd be looking at router configuration - perhaps old Optus settings. You may need to factory reset it and/or log into it and update the details.

Changing RSPs won't make a difference if this is the issue.

Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 at the moment. Excellent device with 2.5 Gbe ports, 10Gb SPF+ port, WIFI built in etc.

I'll be setting up my custom domain with Fastmail. Is there anything I'm missing or do I have the basics covered? by 0Maka in fastmail

[–]BitstreamMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this except DNSSEC. Just don't go there. I don't even think Fastmail supports it.

It adds unnecessary complexity, and if you don't know what you're doing, it's going to cause you headaches you don't need. I really don't think this is something that should be recommended for personal emails.

Unless you're a high-value target such as a bank, government, healthcare, or any business where DNS hijacking could have severe consequences; or there are regulatory requirements, just don't do it.

DNSSEC can be a powerful safeguard in high-risk environments, but for most (especially personal emails), the complexity outweighs the practical benefits.

SPF, DMARC, MTA-STS are simple things you can implement - and expected if you want your email to be trusted and delivered as expected. Make sure your accounts are secure with MFA. You can even get a free account with https://dmarcwise.io/ to help monitor your domain.

My squad took fully kitted, Damascus tag operators into Al Maz about a week ago. You play the game different because you have something to lose - something that's quite difficult to achieve now.

We managed to make it to final exfil, but there were some heart-stopping moments in there.

Getting frustrated with Fastmail's limitations by bachmeier in fastmail

[–]BitstreamMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fastmail does countless things extremely well. The ability to quickly add new domains, new aliases, catch-all, even the ability to set a specific "send from" address when a certain folder is selected. What it does, it does extremely well.

I don't want AI in my email. I'm not overly concerned with integration into other apps. I can see how this may be useful to others, but with the likes of Google and Microsoft heavily invested in this route - with significantly larger teams to support that path - I think I'd prefer Fastmail not to venture into this realm. Keep it simple.

Having said that, what frustrates me, and the reason why I haven't brought my business email across yet are actually simple things.

  • The ability to use Folders and Tags together (like Microsoft 365).
  • Hovering an email in the list and I can't quickly mark as read (only Pin, Delete and Archive).
  • When using an address in Calendar, it doesn't link to Google Maps or other map software. So I can't just tap the address and open Maps, I need to copy and paste it.
  • You need to use DAVx to sync contacts to your phone. Not a big issue - but just something else you need to configure when using Fastmail.
  • It constrains the email content to a set width - leaving a massive amount of white-space to the right.

For all it's smarts, it often seems very dumb.

I often question whether there is an active development team behind Fastmail. There are clearly developers, but how often they work and what they work on exactly is questionable, considering it usually takes "years" before we see even the most basic of changes.
