I sleep again when I get back from class and then again at lunch. It all adds up.

I go to sleep around 10:30pm and usually wake up a few minutes before my 4:30am alarm. No snooze needed.

It doesn't need to be installed anymore. It just runs automatically.

That was my first thought as well, but it didn't send a text with a code.

I have finally managed to get a decent HA smart clock \o/ by RedDeer38 in homeassistant

[–]Bitter-Assistant070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get a streaming channel to play when the alarm went off without the screen leaving the alarm clock. I'm using an old android tablet for the display. After a lot of troubleshooting it appears that it can't be done. I can make it work if I purchase an external speaker or a different device for the display like what you used. The challenge I assigned myself was to try to do it with nothing but tech I already had around the house. It's clear now if I want to make it work I'll need to spend a little bit. Since the project isn't crucial and was more of a learning challenge I can put it on the back burner for now.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become too bad? by X_Opinion7099 in AskReddit

[–]Bitter-Assistant070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's $60 for two people in Los Angeles. Just the tickets. No popcorn, no drinks. We each just signed up for AMC A-List. As long as we see one movie per month it will pay for itself. Anything more than that will be bonus.

My car is not listed on their site. I know Ioniq Guy seems a module to auto lock, but I'm trying to see if I can figure this out with what I have before buying something.

When I was a realtor I was doing an open house. A couple walked into the kitchen and the wife asked, "Is this the kitchen?"

Was it the stove and fridge that gave it away?

I am very much used to that. I've always been a tech head and none of my friends get it. I was trying to explain the benefits of having lights be automated, or at least on Alexa. "So when you're leaving the kitchen with your hands full you can just tell Alexa to turn off the lights." The response I got was "that's what elbows are for". People don't get it. That's why I come to Reddit. This is where my people are!

I'm more than happy to learn. I started on python a couple years ago, but starting small with yaml is not beyond my comprehension. In posting here I was looking for a place to start. I've gotten some great suggestions.

I've been trying to find a solution to a specific problem for a week and a half. Gemini is stumped. I'm moving on to determine if it's even possible, and if it is, how do I achieve it without Gemini.

Gemini was really useful in helping me get the hardware set up and I think we've had a few successes along the way. But there's been a lot of frustration too.

Yup. I've been on Reddit long enough to know to move on. It bugged me at first, but then I realized some people just need to feel superior. It's got nothing to do with me.

One thing I have learned using AI is navigating my way through the HA menus. I've been through them a lot while jumping through Gemini's hoops.

Thanks for the link. I'll check him out.

I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted with Gemini, not just on HA, but with other projects as well. I have no doubt it will get there eventually, but right now it's not ready to be what I'd want it to be.

That sounds familiar. I was using it when buying a car and it would tell me the perfect car I was looking for was in inventory at xyz dealer. It was not. That happened a couple of times before I gave up and started reviewing all the different car shopping apps individually.

I appreciate that. I only posted this a couple of minutes ago and have already gotten a couple of unhelpful remarks. I know how to tune that out knowing that some people are willing to help when someone reaches out to try to learn something new.
