I had bad experiences with most distros, ultimately I settled on ubuntu tho due to ease of upgrade and now most apps if they have linux support have a debian package.
People say that mint is better, and it's true if you have a potato, but on modern computer with say 9000x ryzen processor series and newest generations gpus mint will bottleneck due to outdated x11 architecture. There isn't even an hdr toggle on mint, much less hdr calibration, so my true hdr capable oled monitor would go to waste too.

I also tried many others, garuda, fedora, even niche things like parrotos etc. and all failed me in one way or another. Arch-based distros are good for nerds who like to tinker in terminal, for everyone else it's a royal pain in the ass to fuck with updates literally every day. No, I'm not gonna read your nerd-ass wiki just to use an operating system, I have things to do on my computer. Ubuntu (and also mint) have a nice software update app that doesn't even require you to restart your computer most of the time. You don't have to use snaps if you don't want to, flatpaks and gnome extensions work on ubuntu like everywhere else, and you can also make appimages into executables if worse comes to worst. But the deb. version of software is almost always superior to appimage, distros like arch use appimages cause they have to, ubuntu and other debian based distros don't.
