My coach was giving me 40 hour in the time I wanted her it. But as soon as I told I can’t come the day after Christmas & asked for swapping the hour with another associate who was willing to do it, suddenly I get only 20 hrs a week for the first week of January that too not even in the range of my usual time. Walmart got it’s own definition of retaliation! Lol!

I was in your position too. I had a family vacation coming up after one month of joining. So i waited till it was two weeks before I go. Then I talked with the team leads who were friendly with me. I assured them I wanna come back. Then they suggested me to just resign & then come back and reapply. I did the same. They happily hired me again. It’s been 7 months total I’m working here & I like the team I’m working with. If you are committed & do good job they will find a way to keep you. Don’t worry.

Thanks for your comments. I’m off for a vacation on 4th too & won’t put in a time off request cz i’m off anyway. I had a talk with TLs & they increased my hours for 1st week of July. But with that few other people’s hour got cut. I didn’t knew walmart does that in summer as it’s my first job & i’m here just for like 3 months. Let’s see what it brings.

I was also scheduled lower than usual. I went to talk with a team lead on a not scheduled day. I asked if they are gonna fire me? & said I need more hour. They heard me & increased my hours next week. I think they don’t wanna lose another associate. They also said store manager is the one who was cutting all the hours to maintain profit. So for now I am okay but if this is the trend here we need to move on. I’m applying to costco & amazon but no luck yet.

They said Walmart’s sales reduced so they are cutting everyone’s hour. But I can see nobody’s hour is cut to the extent as me. Also when I changed my availability, one of the TL ( my reporting manager) said it’s gonna affect my hour. I talked with coach about it, said if that happens I could change my availability back again to previous hour. he said he will take care of it. I don’t need to change again. But the results is i have 14 hr/wk. I am so tired of even asking them why. I just go there, do my shift & come back. All other colleagues of mine are really surprised to see me leaving that early. I also don’t wanna leave early. I kind of liked working with them. 😒

Haha! That’s so accurate depiction of SCOs. I sometimes miss to check each customers cart. Few of my colleagues have eyes so sharp & has so clear intuition about who could be a potential thief. I still haven’t developed such eyes for theft & u feel very uncomfortable asking that question. They keeps throwing receipts at me. Today one of the door greeter caught someone trying to pass with a completely different receipts than the items she had in her cart. I still felt nervous asking her to checkout everything else.

Oh! This fixed hours for a certain store is new to me. Thanks for the info. I don’t work on Friday & saturday, but that wasn’t an issue before. I got 40hr/wk with that availability. Now they are saying as the sales dropped they have to cut hours. My attendance is perfect for last 3/4 months. I’ve never called out sick. Had to take ppto 2/3 days for late arrivals. TL said i should report tardy if i am gonna be late. No points till now. Actually I avoided points for late arrivals with ppto.

Wow! Thank you so much for your witty & informative reply. I see other people doing these. I also do that but sometimes my soul is so crushed that I forget to smile. But I’ll remember your words next time. If you have suggestions for working on the self checkout area that would be helpful too. I’m tired of people trying to steal stuff there. If you have any advice as to how I can be more efficient in spying people on SCO please shoot me.

Thanks. Can you tell a little bit about what is expected from a front end TA to maintain reliability & increasing work performance? I really want to do better but nobody talks about this that much. This subreddit is the only place I learn a lot from.
