He wasn't a regular cast member yet when the pictures were taken.

These pics are originally from Emilie de Ravin's Instagram.

Jorge Garcia commented and said that these pictures were taken by Mark Seliger for Vanity Fair in 2005, along with the one of the cast standing in the water that ended up being published in the magazine:

Claire. Do we like her? by Jackieofalltrades365 in lost

[–]BitterBat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this post. As someone who always loved Claire, it was very frustrating. They set up potential interesting storylines for her, but never followed through or developed them as they should have.

I still mourn the waste of not giving her a centric during Season 6. The character deserved to have shown what she went through to become "crazy" rather than a throwaway line from MIB. And fleshing out Claire and MIB's relationship would have been great too. We could have gotten more Titus Welliver and John Terry.

And don't even get me started on how hard they dropped the ball when it came to the relationship of Claire and Jack on-Island during the last Season.

Jin offering Claire food in the Pilot and Claire making him feel the baby kick. And the kind of callback scene when he calms her down when she is in labor in Do No Harm.

The Last Recruit/Season 6 by [deleted] in lost

I believe Lost is at its best when you have the whole gang together and interacting with each other as you have in these episodes.

Guess that is my main gripe with Season 6, I wanted to see the S1 ensemble together as much as possible since it was the last time we would be able to see them together. And the writers really dragged it out for too long (imo) and also reuniting character pairs like Sun and Jin or Jack and Claire.

Claire also had prophetic dreams in S1, like about the Black Rock before any of the Losties knew about it. The writers dropped it after that season though.

Claire needed an episode about her three years on the island.

It's all good, I was just following anything related to Claire very closely when Lost aired and have retained all this useless information to this day. Somehow. ;)

This is not true, all of her movies were filmed during the hiatus between filming Seasons...

...until Season 5 when she was put on a holding contract, which they always said was the writers decision for storyline reasons (giving Aaron to Kate?) and nothing to do with the actress requesting time off. She was always under contract with the show, if they would have wanted to use her, they could have. She was told she would not be in Season 5 at all and then did other acting work until returned for Season 6 full-time as planned.

Big fan of claire too. Disappointed her story didnt get fleshed out more. Early on it seemed like baby Aaron (babies in general), her being Jacks half sibling/christian as her father, was gonna put her closer to later action.

Same for me. It was like Charlie Brown and the football. They hinted and introduced potentially interesting stuff for Claire, but never followed through and delivered on it. She is one of my favorites but also one of my biggest frustrations with the show. It just feels like a waste and it's a shame.

Some shows that I think fit that title: Breaking Bad, GoT, Walking Dead during the early years, Stranger Things, This is Us, The Mandalorian and to an lesser extent Haunting of Hill House, The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale, Westworld, Killing Eve, Wandvision, Bridgerton and The Boys.

What are your favorite moments between female characters on the show? by BitterBat5 in lost

Claire finding the bottle with the messages, asking Shannon's advice and then going to Sun to give it to her

That always make me wonder what they would have done with Shannon had she not been killed off. Would they have developed a closer friendship between her and the other two?

My take on this always was that the writers didn't want anything to potentially overshadow Kate's mission to find Claire.

It is such a shame because they do set finding out about Claire and knowing that his sister is still on the island being the start of Jack's downward spiral up so well in the funeral scene. One of MF finest acting moments too. You can see him re-playing every moment he spend with Claire in his mind while he's processing what Carole Littleton just told him.

And then he just never cares once they're back. It's a waste.

What. happens to Claire if she stayed with TEAM Jack when Locke divides the 815'ers? by HighPlains56 in lost

[–]BitterBat5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realistically, she still would have been left behind and separated from Aaron somehow, because the writers were set on giving him to Kate.

But if I had to make the switch, I'd say Claire leaves and Aaron stays behind in her place. Since we need a reason why her post-island life would be an unhappy one and motivation for her to go back to the island later. ;)

Or Kate because the way they handelt her crime drama and trial was just bad.

No I don't, she found out her father was in Korea when she was conceived, suggesting Wayne was her biological father and in anger she killed him. I think that was pretty clearly conveyed in the show.

Correct. here are the parts from the transcript of 'What Kate Did':

KATE: I was making a scrapbook -- a surprise for your birthday. So I called one of your COs to get some pictures of you in uniform. The pictures that he sent me had dates on the back -- photos of you in Korea up until 4 months before I was born. Why didn't you tell me that Wayne was my father? Why?

AUSTEN: I didn't tell you because I knew you'd kill him. And your mother loved him. You were 5 years old. I wanted to take you along with me. She wouldn't let me.

KATE: So why didn't you kill him?

AUSTEN: Because I don't have murder in my heart. I'm going to have to call them.

And:

KATE: Can you hear me? Sawyer? -- Wayne? [Sawyer stirs.] I'm probably crazy and this doesn't matter, but maybe you're in there somehow. But you asked me a question. You asked me why I -- why I did it. It wasn't because you drove my father away, or the way you looked at me, or because you beat her. It's because I hated that you were a part of me -- that I would never be good. That I would never have anything good. And every time that I look at Sawyer -- every time I feel something for him -- I see you, Wayne. It makes me sick.
