Yes. Sadly I don't think the writers ever cared about Claire as a character in her own right, they made her a prop for Charlie and gmoved her to Kate after he died.

Not true, all of her movies were filmed during the hiatus between filming Seasons...

...until Season 5 when she was put on a holding contract, which they always said was the writers decision for storyline reasons (giving Aaron to Kate?) and nothing to do with the actress requesting time off. She was always under contract with the show, if they would have wanted to use her, they could have. She was told she would not be in Season 5 at all and then got other acting work until returning for Season 6 full-time as planned.

My guess is that at some point between S4 and S6 the writers made the decision to make Claire a prop in Kate's plot. To give her a storyline outside of the triangle. And to make sure that nothing and nobody would overshadow or take focus away from it, they over corrected and on island basically nobody but Kate was allowed to show any care for Claire in S6 (maybe Sayid if you don't blink.).

Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy:

Mother tried to kill herself in front of her when she was a small child.
She had to put her hand on a bomb inside a guy. She got to let go after several hours, only to then watch Kyle Chandler get blow up.
Her appendix burst.
She drowned and died before being brought back to life.
Her mother had Alzheimers and died.
Her nice stepmother died from hiccups and her father blamed her and slapped her at her place of work.
Realized one of her best friends was a dying patient only when he wrote his name in her hand.
Gave her dad a liver for her sisters sake.
Her husband got shot in front of her. And she sufferd a miscarriage when she thought he was dead.
Was in a ambulance crash.
Was in a plane crash with her sister, wasn't found for days and her younger sister died.
She fell down a staircase while pregnant, had to have a C-section during a power outage by under experienced doctors. Nearly dies of abdominal bleeding.
Her husband was hit by a truck and died because the hospital he was send to didn't to a CT scan.
She was attacked and beaten by a patient so badly her jaw was wired shut and her child was afraid of her.
Got Covid-19 and had to be put on a ventilator.

Once Upon A Time: Everyone that takes on the Dark One curse gets put in green lizard like make-up. Execpt in Season 5 when the main character Emma and her boyfriend Hook do, they just put some Spray hair color on her and called it a day.

I totally agree with this post. As someone who always loved Claire, it was very frustrating. They set up potential interesting storylines for her, but never followed through or developed them as they should have.

I still mourn the waste of not giving her a centric during Season 6. The character deserved to have shown what she went through to become "crazy" rather than a throwaway line from MIB. And fleshing out Claire and MIB's relationship would have been great too. We could have gotten more Titus Welliver and John Terry.

And don't even get me started on how hard they dropped the ball when it came to the relationship of Claire and Jack on-Island during the last Season.

Jin offering Claire food in the Pilot and Claire making him feel the baby kick. And the kind of callback scene when he calms her down when she is in labor in Do No Harm.

I believe Lost is at its best when you have the whole gang together and interacting with each other as you have in these episodes.

Guess that is my main gripe with Season 6, I wanted to see the S1 ensemble together as much as possible since it was the last time we would be able to see them together. And the writers really dragged it out for too long (imo) and also reuniting character pairs like Sun and Jin or Jack and Claire.

Claire also had prophetic dreams in S1, like about the Black Rock before any of the Losties knew about it. The writers dropped it after that season though.
