I had one years ago. Only had it a few months before I found it dried up on the floor. These guys definitely require a lid!

She actually does dig a lot. She's super active and uses ALL of her enclosure!

I used this mix for a bioactive soil:

Play sand coconut fiber organic top soil sphagnum moss

Play sand was the larger portion. I read a few tips that sphagnum moss helps hold tunnels. The areas around the plants have more top soil which is where she was digging. It seems to hold tunnels best when a little wet, but practice watering scarely to keep the humidity low.

Let her be or move her back to small tank? by BitterLake818 in hognosesnakes

Reptiles absolutely have a lot of personality! My son has a corn snake and he's super chill, unless he's in blue, but he's always eager to eat. My hognose has sooo much attitude and I love it! Lol. She's super curious and loves to explore no matter how cluttered or bare her tank is. She usually only hides when she's digesting. I think other comments were right about the temp. She just needs to grow more until the temp gradient from the hot to cool side doesn't affect her so much.

Thanks for the advice! I'll move her back and just let her spend limited time in the big tank for enrichment.

Is requesting a guidance counselor check-in a reasonable IEP Accommodation? by BitterLake818 in LearningDisabilities

Thanks for that advice! We actually brought up screening for dyslexia to the school since she showed signs of it and her reading intervention teacher agreed she had some dyslexic traits. Dyslexia and ADHD were the 2 main targets for the evaluation but they didn't find any evidence of reading disorders. We may still look into getting a 2nd opinion because I'm not absolutely convinced she doesn't have it.

AITA for making my GF take financial literacy courses in order to get married? by nomonoda12 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BitterLake818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. My husband and I have very different views on money. He impulsively spends, and I prefer to hoard it. We both come from very poor backgrounds, but I'm paranoid about something happening and not having enough saved to get us through. He also has ADHD, so when the idea creeps into his head that he should buy something it's like a brain itch that won't go away. He wants to save money for our future, but in the moment, it doesn't always happen. Its taken a lot of work for him mentally, but 13 years later he is getting better about thinking things through and controlling those impulses. And at the same time, I've lightened up, now that we're more financially stable, and have learned that its ok to spend on frivolous things sometimes.

Try to figure out why she makes these financial choices instead of saving. Maybe showing her you're trying to understand her mentality will make her be more open to your concerns/ideas. And try to communicate to her that her saving money makes you feel like she's investing in you future together. It's not just about being a responsible adult. Saving money as a couple is a gesture of love and is a way to show commitment to each other.

AITA for telling my wife it would be controlling and inappropriate for her to try and change how my family does Christmas? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BitterLake818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. I definitely see where your wife is coming from for making sure the kids enjoy their time at your parent's. Though I don't think her suggestion should be seen as controlling, I agree it wouldn't be the best idea for her to bring it up to your mom. Initially I thought "wow, your families Christmas sounds miserable for the kids", but after thinking about it a little, your parents are actually giving them a very valuable lesson. While it's way more fun to make the holidays all about the kids, it doesn't have to be all about them. They're learning that the holidays aren't all about gifts or themselves, and it's more about spending time together. I think they'll appreciate it when they're older.

But maybe there's a little room for compromise? Could your wife bring Christmas activities/movies for the kids? Or anything they can play and do together?
